Santos Tile / Just Baths

I had a great experience with Santos Tile installing our 3 x 3 tumbled marble tile on a diagonal. They were responsive, punctual, honest, professional, and detail-oriented! John Santos responded quickly to all contacts, via phone and email. When he came to our house to give an estimate, he patiently explained all of the details, answered any questions I had, and offered tips when asked. Our estimate included repairing the wall damage from when we took down our old tile - saving us from having to hire a separate contractor to do that. John ordered and picked up the tile himself, and work started on time and was completed in 1-1/2 days as scheduled. Russ, the installer, was great - carefully chose individual tiles to use, laid them perfectly, and left my kitchen clean. He even cut the tiles where two walls meet so that it looks like the tiles just fold onto the adjoining wall - Great attention to detail! John stopped in a couple of times during the installation too. My backsplash looks beautiful! I plan to use Santos Tile the next time we need tile installed - they're good people with great experience and high standards.

Excellent experience from start to finish with Santos Tile. John came out and gave me a quote within two days of calling him, gave me a very reasonable quote very quickly, and his crew was able to perform the job less than two weeks later after we confirmed the deal. The actual job was done in 1 1/2 days, and the work was exceptional . I strongly recommend Santos Tile to others..

John has a TON of experience and is very easy to talk to and communicate with. His team always were also great to work with, I felt very comfortable with them in my home, knew that they were working hard AND did a phenomenal job. Whenever anyone visits our home, they always say our bathroom feels like a spa and John and his team helped create that! I've also had questions for John well after the reinovation and he always gets back to me quickly regardless of the fact that our bathroom was finished almost 5 years ago... he has also stopped by on a few occassions when I had some questions for him. Highly recommend him!

In the end I was very pleased with the results obtained from John and his crew. One of his guys (George) deserves special kudos as a highly methodical MASTER craftsman and gave me exquisite tile work in a large master shower with multiple designs and tile integration. When another contractor came in to install some bathroom vanities and saw George working, he remembered him from some seminar years before and said "He's the MAN" and was impressed that I had him doing my work. That speaks volumes. I highly commend John for keeping the job on budget and working with me on a crazy schedule that was impacted by weather and a variety of other factors in getting things finished. He stood by his quote to the end and went out of his way, sometimes coming in himself to cut tile and help his crew finish up on time. I'd HIGHLY recommend this team and would gladly use them again in the future.

John Santos from Santos Tile/ Just Baths Company did the ceramic tile work in our bathroom. His crew also installed the plumbing and did the electric work. John subcontracted the cabinet work and the counter top installation work to another company. I just had to deal with John and he dealt with the rest of them. His crew did a very good job. They did what they said they would do and when they said they would do it. John personally did the shower installation and we were very pleased with the result. There were a couple of issues that we wanted them to rework on, so we called him up. He showed up the next day and took care of it. There were no arguments about the quality of the final product. John was willing to work until we were happy and that's the best thing one can ask for in a contractor. I would definitely hire him again in the future if I need another bathroom remodeled. One of the best things about the experience with John was that we didn't have any pending issues. He fixed whatever we wanted him to fix until we were satisfied. He was easy to deal with. He worked with our schedule; we appreciate that. We were pleased with the price; it was a fair price. We had a couple of estimates and John's was the best. We did not have any issues with the final price.

The only slight negative of working with Santos Tile was at the beginning. It took a bit longer than expected to get an initial visit to get a quote, but I suppose it was not unreasonable for a small operation like this. I was pleased with the quote. It was very fair with no need to negotiate. Santos gave a detailed description of the work to be done and set clear expectations for how existing tile would be impacted and how shower would look afterwards. Once I had the plumbing hardware and plumber's schedule set, Santos was able to quickly schedule my job. They met their schedule to the day. They were always on time. They were professional, courteous, and very conscientious about cleaning up. I was able to inspect each step of the job and the quality of the work was obvious. The end product was top-notch tile work with no discernable flaws. I would most definitely use this contractor again.

John was easy to work with. He is experienced but not arrogant. He is willing to listen to ideas. His tile guys were excellent - timely, considerate, beautiful craftsmen. John is clearly a tile guy first which when you consider the ramifications of poor tile installation in a master bath project, this is what I wanted. I was less pleased with the plumber. He used a white terry cloth towel out of my other bathroom as a construction rag and left it on the floor. I could understand having to catch a spill in an emergency, but you communicate when something like this happens. Neither John nor I were present when this happened. We wanted to put a second water heater in the attic to supply just the master bath. It was difficult to get answers and pricing on this, and my husband who has some construction background ended up doing a large portion of this himself for a variety of reasons. We bought a contemporary toilet and the handle pulls up rather than pushes down. We had some issues with this and we called the manufacturer and they sent a replacement, and my husband re-installed. So I am not sure if the first was defective or improperly installed. The finish work on the wood trim was adequate but the end cuts were not consistent and final caulking didn't occur. I give John an A for tile work but a B on these other areas. He had one of his tile guys do this part. I little training would fix this right up. There were a few times when subs came in (painter for example), and I was the primary contact person when I would have preferred it would have been John. I wasn't 100% sure if he was to paint the doors, linen closet, trim, etc. John relied on me for design and purchasing. There were times when I would have liked a little guidance in this area around plumbing fixtures, etc., but that was not necessarily his job. John wasn't the fastest on supplying quotes, but being an independent consultant myself, I understand that this issue is generally totally unrelated to what you are actually hiring the person to do so I didn't hold it against him. There were also I few things missing from the original quote that we had discussed. When I reminded him, he added them, but it added cost. I would have been upset if I had not checked that clearly, assumed everything we discussed was in there, and the items were added later, adding unforeseen cost. I don't believe John was being intentionally misleading, I simply think some things slipped his mind so check your quote. John quoted 2 weeks for the job (so then I planned on 3). Nearly everything was done in 2 weeks except the custom shower glass couldn't be ordered until the tile was done to ensure proper measurement and the glass then took a over a week to come in. By the time it was installed, it added 2 weeks. I think John has enough experience to recognize this and should have managed expectations better on this. We started March 8 and the glass was installed April 8. Having built my house in 1993, I have experience with construction, and in the grand scheme, I am very pleased with how things went. Having someone easy to work with makes a huge difference in your feelings about the project in general, and John gets an A on this. I trusted John. Believed he was honest and felt like his price fair. I am very pleased with the quality of the work and the final result. I would use John again, but I might ask if I could use my plumber.

They were extremely professional and clean. They cleaned up after themselves without leaving a spot. They were very hardworking and very efficient.

He's excellent. He is very attentive to detail and he treats his employees well. He responds in a very timely fashion. He leaves things very clean. He stands behind his work. I would absolutely use him again.
