Grand Openings Garage Door

They did a lot I didn't even ask them to do aside from the work I needed without charging me for it as a courtesy. Very nice and professional. They were very clean and got the work done quick.

My garage door structure was failing and I needed a replacement. After getting quotes from two other companies I decided to call Grand Openings based on reviews on Angie's list. Michael answered the phone personally and gave me a quote and answered all my questions over the phone. His price was the best of all the companies and I got a good impression when talking to him. I decided to have Grand Openings install a new door for me. He said he could come out the following week. When I said I really needed it installed sooner, he found time in his schedule to come out that Thursday (I called him Tuesday afternoon). I later decided I wanted to replace my garage door opener as well with a quieter model. I called Michael and he said no problem and gave me a competitive quote to install a new opener. He arrived exactly when he said he would on Thursday and removed the old door, installed the new one and opener. I was in the garage most of the time during the installation and could see he was very knowledgeable and was doing a great job. I am very happy with the new door and opener. I'm amazed at how much quieter and smoother it is than my previous one. The process with Michael was very positive from start to finish and I would not hesitate to recommend his services.

Mike arrived within 35 minutes and took one look and said it was the tension wire and it would have to be replaced. Gave me two options in terms of the parts I could purchase, one coming with a 90 day warranty and one with a 10 year warranty. I went with the 10 year warranty. I also asked him to do an inspection and service on the door, since nobody had come to look at it since the house was built in 2001. He performed a full tune up and was done in about an hour. I cannot believe how quiet the door is now. I honestly did not realize how loud the door was prior to his service. I just assumed all garage doors should operate that loudly!! I immediately recommended him to two of my friends and I wouldn't hesitate to give his number to anyone that asked me about their garage doors.

Contacted the company by email to set up an appointment time; received a phone response two day later. (Guess they don't check email that often.) No problem choosing a date/time for service, which we needed to schedule on a Thursday or Friday. Service rep showed up on time, performed as advertised, left the door squeak-free and in good working order. He was pleasant and friendly on the job, and seemed quite knowledgeable about the work. One remark suggested that the "Angie's Big Deal" price we paid was his regular rate, rather than a higher regular rate quoted in the solicitation. This special price was offered in the "Raleigh area" market, but that's a broad brush. Grand Openings is located in Garner, more than an hour from our address in Durham. We'd be glad to use this vendor again, but ordinarily we'd use someone located near to our home.

When I called Grand Openings, I was immediately impressed that Mike himself answered the phone and I didn't have to leave a message. We set up a time that worked for both of us, a Saturday about 2 days out. Mike arrived right on time and thoroughly explained all of our options to us. The door could have been repaired, but based on the age of the door, the cost of repairs, and the fact that the door was a basic builder grade door, we opted to replace it. Grand Openings was the third estimate we had gotten, and they all gave us the same description of repairs needed. They all differed in brand of garage doors that they offered, and in price. While Grand Openings was the most reasonable, Mike also seemed very knowledgeable about what needed to be done to make our new garage door fit correctly and work the way it should. None of the other companies had given us as detailed a description of what fine tuning they would do, and what had been done incorrectly in the first place. We chose a better insulated steel backed door by doorLink, and it took one week to schedule the work. Our garage door was still working so we were in no major rush, and we had been told 2 weeks by another company. We had also decided to replace the opener since ours was so old. Again, Mike arrived on time and worked about 5 hours installing the door and motor, and then went over its operation with me. There was one noise he was concerned about and he explained to me why it was happening. He called 2 days later to follow up and see if the noise had disappeared, which it had. He still came out the following Saturday to make sure he was happy with how it was working and to do some additional fine tuning. The garage door is beautiful and extremely quiet, and our garage was left clean and neat. My husband was impressed that Mike was so particular about getting the fit of the door just right, making it fit an opening that was slightly out of plumb with a good seal, while still meeting the manufacturer's spec for the door. We have already recommended Mike and Grand Openings to a neighbor that had a broken spring on their garage door, and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to replace their garage door as well. I wanted to add as well, that the final Saturday that Mike came out, his truck ended up getting blocked into our driveway by a family buying our old refrigerator from us. It took much longer to load than we expected, and Mike was probably stuck here an extra 30-45 minutes. Even though he had another job after ours, he was very easy going about it, offered to help, and just chatted with us while we waited. We definitely appreciated his patience!

Mike did a great job - he came out to our house on a Sunday, which was so convenient to us, as my husband and I both work during the week. After looking at the garage door for about 2 minutes, he knew the issue, and got right to work on it. In about 20 minutes, our garage door was fixed! Mike fixed the sensors on our door and adhered all the wiring to our garage door wall so that they would stay in place. I will definitely use Mike again if we have any other problems in the future!

Mike responded quickly to my request for an estimate. He arrived on schedule for both the estimate appointment and his project appointment. He patiently took his time assessing our needs and gave us several options to choose from. When the project started, Mike worked diligently from start to finish (in terrible weather conditions) and we were delighted with the outcome. The doors Mike put in ran smoother and made less noise than we expected. He even called the next day to check-in. We will absolutely call Mike again for our garage door needs.

When our garage door opener ceased working I called Grand Openings based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Angie's List. I was not disappointed. Mike (the owner) answered my call and scheduled a time the next day to check out our problem. He arrived promptly at the appointed time and quickly determined that the gear on the opener was broken. He immediately gave me a quote for the work and said he would also include greasing that door and a second door so they would operate more quietly. I then asked why one of the doors was making so much noise and wobbling on the way down. Mike noticed that two brackets to hold the side rails were missing. He installed two brackets (drilling into the side brick) and the door now operates smoothly and quietly with no wobble. Overall it was a very positive experience at a very reasonable cost.

Mike actually made two trips to my house - first to do a temporary fix on the old motor and assess the overall problem in order to give me an estimate. He gave me a good price and was very fast. He is super nice and my dog Pricey is in love with him. I would never use any one else for this type of service.

Mike was great to work with. He replied to my email quickly, and called me shortly after I provided additional details to set-up an appointment. Mike talked me through what repairs were needed and was on-time and thorough. I would highly recommend Mike and Grand Openings.

garage door stopped working one day - no experience with doors so called this company, who drove all the way out to durham to take a look - turned out the sensor was misaligned. Mike realigned it, and just charged for gas. Was a pleasant experience from begninning to end - he returned my calls, came as scheduled, called before he came, was polite during all encounters. Would definitely use his company again for any repairs!

Mike came within a day to give an estimate as well as some options in terms of garage door brands and styles. He was exteremely courteous and patient with a 73 year old retired software programmer/ analyst. I. E. know-it-all tendencies. He came to do the work even earlier than expected and cleaned up afterwards. I enjoyed watching him work and note the efficiency that results from his prior years of garage door installations.

They came and had it all taken care of. They were here when they said they would be and took care of it. They are friendly and punctual.

Excellent. We dismantled our garage door tracks and electronic unit so that we could put a basketball goal in the garage. This was 5 years ago. Michael came out a week or so earlier and wasn't phased by the project. I really didn't know if the old unit could be used again and put back in place. Michael didn't seem to have any doubts. He came back on a Saturday (which works great for me) and put it all together. We had a working door within 2 hours. He even threw in a remote as I no longer had mine. Michael was thorough, fast and efficient. I would highly recommend him.

Fantastic service. Very Professional and knowledge. I was given a number of options and selected the one I could afford. My goal was to quiet the opening/closing of my door and I got that in droves. The only way to get it any quieter, he said, was to go from a chain to belt drive and possibly couple that with some sound dampening material mounted to my garage ceiling. He did mention that there were other even more pricey solutions that would eliminate nearly 100% of the vibration and sound but I wasn't prepared to pay such a high-end solution. Great business....great guy. I wish I could remember who I worked with but I think it may have been Mike.

The garage door spring broke last night and we couldn't even open it manually. I called this morning, and Mike was very professional, pleasant and knowledgeable. He was busy at a job, but offered to come by as soon as possible to at least get it open if we needed to get a car out. Fortunately, that wasn't an issue. He said he would come between 2 and 3, and at 2:18 he called to say he was on his way. He had the parts needed on his truck, and got right to work. He did not try to sell me services that weren't necessary, and explained exactly what was necessary and why. He was very cost conscious and tried to save me money where he could. I would highly recommend Mike's company to anyone needed garage door servicing.
