After storm damage to my roof, I hired GBS to completely replace the roof and repair ceiling damage in multiple areas of the house. GBS was great at helping me to get my insurance company to accept the claim, but then had to adjust their estimates twice because the insurance company said they where way to high for the amount of damage. It then took nearly two months, after my check was cashed to get them to the house to start work. All the work was completed by sub-contractors and was completed in a timely manner and done well. However, the work that was supposed to happen did not occur. The contractors showed me list of what they where supposed to do and it did not match up to what was written on the estimate. Drywall and insulation was supposed to be replaced, none of that occurred. They just covered the damage in drywall mud and painted the room. When I questioned the contractor, he showed me what he was getting paid for. It was not the subs fault, it was GBS trying to cut corners. After getting all of this corrected, I settled up with GBS and paid them the part of the repairs that I owed them. Here we are 4 months later, I have never heard from them since I paid, received everything stating I am paid up, and I get a letter in the mail stating that they plan to put a lien on the house because I did not pay my bill. They even went as far as to send a fake document naming me as a defendant in a law suit. I never was billed for any additional work, and I have a document stating that we are square. I contacted the original salesperson from the company and she has long since quit, along with everyone else that I ever had contact with. Only the owner seems to still exist and he is attempting to bully me into paying additional monies. Stay away from this company! There current BBB score is F, down from A when I hired them 6 months ago. I'm not sure what the issue is, but this company is in extreme disarray. To make things more fun, I got a phone call, the day after I got the letter, inviting me to join a class action lawsuit against GBS for insurance fraud. I just wanted to get my roof fixed. This is way more than I bargained for.
Description of Work: They removed and replaced the shingles on my roof They cleaned and painted the ceiling in 3 of my upstairs rooms that had water damage. They where supposed to replace the damaged drywall. Replace the damaged insulation in the attic. The work that was actually performed was done by sub contractors and was done well. The roof does not leak and looks good. GBS was cutting corners by hiring the subs to do less work than GBS had promised.

GBS roofers came to my house to do my roof 12/14/11. I checked them on the BBB and agreed to it. For the initial inspection I was told they would send someone to chalk my roof prior to the insurance inspector coming. Instead they sent a worker that looked up at my roof. /The second time, he came with someone else and they both looked up at my roof. The insurance and GBS came they weren't/ able to get on my roof. They said they would need to send a full crew the next day to anchor themselves to do it. They never showed. When they finally did come, they ended up bracing a ladder on my roof with another ladder on the ground. The insurance inspector was the one that got up on the roof to chalk it. Another guy stood on the ladder and another guy on his cell complaining how another insurance inspector was such a b* she would do anything it is her job.. I really don't know who is responsible to do it but thought it was very unprofessional talk in front of me. 1/4/12 My insurance approved a full roof replacement 1/7/12 They sent me an email requesting my shingle choices, which I sent 1/24/12 They sent someone to pick up the check for 1/2 the amount. I told them I would not be home until after 6, they said that wasn't a problem. They showed before 6. I was able to get them a check. 1/25/12 The check was cashed. After that when I called or emailed, if he answered or responded to my voicemail/email I was told it would be about 2 weeks. 3/19/12 I started calling the office, I left a voicemail requesting they call me at work with when the work would be done. I received a voicemail at home that it would be a week and a half to 2 weeks. Heard NOTHING. I continued to call the office. It was either voicemail, a hang up, told that the scheduler had just left, they had just changed distributors or being told it would be done in two weeks. 8/20/12 I emailed the people listed as the owners. "This has just come to my attention. I will get you finished by Monday of next week. We have been extremely busy and I sincerely apologize for your delay" Through other emails they were going to show on Monday. Monday came and went. 8/28/12 Owner sent an email "The weather just has us a few days out. I am working my hardest to get your shingles dropped Thursday. I am very sorry for your delay" I also received a voicemail at home that they would be dropped Wednesday. On Friday some supplies were dropped. The back and forth continued. 10/15/12 I called the office again to try to get my money back. They were going to start that day but couldn't because of the rain. She assured me they would be there on Thursday, if not I should call her and she will get my money back. I let them know that I would be taking the day(s) off work. She called back to see if I wanted them to start on Friday instead since it normally takes 2 days. I said no Thursday would be fine. Thursday- No show no calls. Friday no show no calls. Friday when I called they said that they will refund my money, but the owner will have to sign so she will let me know when I can pick it up. We will see if that happens.

Company rep came to my house in December to solicit a new roof. I also mentioned I would like a roof over my patio also. After several months of saying they would start my job, they finally showed up on April 16th without a permit. They never finished the job and I had to contract out for the gutters they were suppose to install and the electrical they did not install. They left my siding full of tar from the old roof and mud caked on the patio and the walkways. They also have not painted the posts and have torm screens and damaged soffit. Now they are harrassing me for more money they say I owe them. They have emailed me at work and left threatening messages on my cell phone. They have 6 complaints listed with the BBB at this time for the same problems. The company will not accept any responsibility. I have turned them in to the State Attorney General's Office and the BBB.
Description of Work: New roof and patio cover installed.
