I design, build and install custom cabinetry for the kitchen, bath, study and many other locations in the home. I have a lifetime of experience. Over the years I've designed, built and installed dozens of kitchens, entertainment centers, fireplace shelving units, libraries,…etc. I design my cabinetry in CAD and fabricate everything in my cabinet shop. My focus is unique, quality cabinetry. I use select hardwoods and apply a natural clear finish allowing the wood’s beauty to shine through. My wood of choice is cherry but I have built cabinets in maple, walnut, oak, ash, and hickory as well. I build my painted cabinets in hard maple for durability and have an unlimited selection of colors to choose from. My background and degree is in Mechanical Engineering (UW-Madison 1988) and I worked for corporate for a number of years in addition to the cabinetry which has now become my primary focus. Each bkcustom cabinet is design using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and is designed to fit your unique space providing the functionality you desire. I pay close attention to detail. My goal is to obtain the highest quality and functionally possible. I fabricate all my cabinetry using "face frames" and “rail and stile” construction. All doors, drawer and cabinet carcases are fabricated in my shop by me (my hand is in your project every step of the way). Internals are ¾” American made maple plywood. I also design and build furniture – beds, chest of drawers, tables, buffets, book cases. As an example of the quality, many of my drawer box bottoms are split aromatic cedar and I build rail and style back panels rather than use ¼” plywood backs on all furniture. My overall goal is to design the perfect piece to fit your space. If you are looking for a unique personalized piece then bkcustom is the right choice for your project. I'm always happy to meet with you and do provide free estimates.
