+ -1 moreI called April's Cleaning Service today to see if someone could clean for me this week. I was told that there had been a cancellation and someone could come this afternoon, and the cost would be $155, or $145 if I omitted the kitchen. I was also told that I would have to pay cash - no checks or credit card. A red flag went up in my mind and I said that $145 was too much for me. I hung up and tried to call the owner or manager to confirm that they would only accept cash. I was quite shocked when, instead, I received an email from Angie's Cleaning stating that I had been offered cleaning for $115 and that I had said I would only pay $65, neither of which is the truth. Their statement was a total fabrication. It looks like someone planned to pocket the extra cash if they had come today. I'm now waiting for the owner or someone to call me and clear up this matter, as well as answer my question regarding cash payment. Right now, however, April's Cleaning Service is looking very dishonest.

+ -1 morethey were hired to do a first time cleaning for 1800 sq ft. My issues were they did a lot of hit and miss. the toilets were not disinfected, only wiped out. the shower glass surround was very clean but the tub was not scrubbed. the floors were very sticky from what they used to clean them with, there was debris left on the tile floors, the dusting was hit and miss, the kitchen cabinets were not cleaned like they said they would, and they made excuses when I told them about it. but they are polite.

Description of Work: I was extremely disappointed with April's Cleaning. The cleaning itself was thorough, like the reviews said, however the customer service component of April's business was absolutely abysmal. I had my apartment cleaned on the weekend, and because I was in Chapel Hill, I was charged a $25 premium on top of the $100 for the first-time clean. I was willing to pay this premium even with a $60 competitor down the street, because the reviews were so good. I was told that the cleaners would arrive between 11am and 1pm, and that the cleaning would take about 2 hours, so naturally I assumed they would arrive close to 11am; however, they did not arrive until close to 12pm, making me miss my 12pm appointment. When I returned to my apartment halfway through the cleaning to grab something, I noticed that one of my earrings was missing from the bathroom counter where they had been left. Now, admittedly I shouldn't have left them there in the first place. When I asked the cleaners if they had seen the earring, they said it probably got vacuumed up, with very little concern for the issue. I emailed April about the earring, which was a one of a kind antique from Cape Cod, and she told me she would neither give me a refund nor a credit for the lost earring. Her attitude was extremely snobby, and she absolutely refused to budge from her strict policies. As an MBA going into services marketing, this is one of the worst cases of customer service that I have experienced. The ability to respond during a service recovery period with empathy and respect is a key indicator of a good service business, and April completely lacks that. It is all business, with no hint of a human component. If that type of service works for you (I would have expected this in New York) then by all means, use April's cleaning. But make sure to keep your valuables hidden, or they'll be gone forever.

+ -1 moreThe quality of the work depends on the crew leader. There is a crew leader who leads a group of 3-4 people. We have had them do a fantastic job with one particular person and then just an average job when it is the other person who is in charge. Their pricing is fair.

I was very pleased and just haven't had the time to call them back. My house is trash because I've had 7 people living in the house and I have to get it cleaned up so I can have April come and do a good clean. She was very responsive and the price was good.

+ -1 moreGood, but expensive company. Used them for the first time today, and were pretty satisfied. April personally scheduled and gave the estimate. She was very professional and courteous. As seems standard, the initial cleaning is about 50% higher than a recurring twice a month arrangement. They asked for $5 extra to make each bed, which seems a bit nickle-and-dime. Work performed was good -- very good in kitchen, family room, and bathrooms. Mirrors and glass were spotless. Might use again if we can't find a conscientious independent cleaner (at half the cost). Their system of two worker bees+1 on site manger seems to work pretty well. There were no surprises on price or schedule, which was appreciated.
Description of Work: First time cleaning (fairly typical 2 story new home). Vacuum carpets, clean bathrooms, kitchen, family room, microwave, hardwoods, etc. They sent 3 people, who spent about 2 hours to do both floors.

+ -1 moreIn the beginning they did a great job. However, you never know which crew you were going to get, some were better than others. Some crews were not very careful and broke several picture frames. Then we had things come up missing. They never admitted that someone on their crew would do anything like this. And they never replaced the items missing. The company continually increased the price. We would not hire this company again.
