Workmanship was superior. Everyone was cooperative and courteous. They had done other work for me two years ago and I chose them to do this work because I had been so pleased. They definitely did not let me down. The quote for the work they did was in line with what I expected for dependable work. I am quite sure that value has been added to my home.
Description of Work: Deck needed replacing. Also the stairs to my front porch. In addition, my house needed pressure washing and the exterior woodwork needed painting.

It went great. I had no problems and was impressed. They always cleaned up after themselves when they left and everyone was always kind, friendly and professional. They did an all around great job especially with the amount of obstacles they faced to complete all the work.

Did you use this provider for services, but I would call them again in the future.
Description of Work: I called this provider for a quote for a small job. They were booked out for several months, and I was unable to wait for them to be available. But they were professional and courteous on the phone, and they returned my call promptly. I would call them again for a larger job in the future.

I had several pictures of what I wanted and David Miller patiently drew out plans of what we had in mind, even down to the fireplace mantle, which was hand built and not a separate purchase. We had to wait approximately 8 weeks for the construction to begin but they were well worth the wait. Once they started, it was fast, thorough, pleasant and everything we asked for. We could not be happier. The Miller team called with status updates along the way and called for follow-up to see if we had any concerns after completion of the project. We will definitely use Miller for our next project!

Sorry in advance for a lengthy review, but it was a large job that involved a lot of elements. We contacted Miller Building & Remodeling to submit a bid on replacing a door/window unit leading onto our deck that had become water damaged and was showing rot on the frame. They were one of 3 contractors we had out to examine and bid the job - but they were the only one who spotted the source of what caused the damage in the first place. After spending just a few minutes with David Miller, his knowledge and experience became evident and far surpassed that of the other 2 contractors. David warned us that the damage may be worse once they removed the door unit and could see the full extent of what was happening, and that they may have to revise the estimate based on that. We had a small upper deck that was over the door unit that had been improperly flashed and was causing water to leak down into the walls. When they removed the unit the damage was far worse than we imagined. Alan Miller, who supervised the repairs, assured us that they could not only fix the problem, but also make sure it didn't happen again. They had to tear out a large section of the wall surrounding the door unit and replace the studs, joists and drywall. They also made sure the water damage hadn't reached into the finished basement below. Amazingly, even though we had a very large hole in the side of house during the process, they had sealed the interior of the room with plastic sheeting from floor to ceiling protecting it from dust and debris so that our kitchen area remained unaffected by the process. Once they finished the exterior repair, they moved inside to replace the trim and repaint the wall and ceiling. The crown moulding we had in the room was no longer available so they had to recreate it, and they did so with fantastic results. Afterwards, we discussed the options to prevent the damage from happening again with Alan. We decided to have them remove the small upper deck that hadn't been flashed properly. In addition, the deck had a double door that led onto it from our master bedroom that we had them replace with a picture window. We cannot say enough about how pleased we are with the results and the quality of the work that was done. Every member of their crew was professional, polite and courteous. They took great pains to work cleanly and with as little disruption to us as possible. As we both work from our home, that was greatly appreciated. The cost was very reasonable and overall a great value. When I complemented Alan on his crew and the work they had done he said, "We try to treat every job like we're working on our own home", and I can tell you that's not empty talk - they live up to it. From our standpoint, the 3 words that sum up Miller Building are: Quality, integrity and professionalism. If you need work done, these are the guys to hire.

Over seven years, the weight and vibration of a front-load washing machine in upstairs laundry room, with heart pine flooring, resulted in a spongy and unstable floor. Miller's workmen, led by Darrell, removed the heart pine boards, determined the problem, shored up and strengthened the subflooring, and replaced the undamaged flooring with no evidence of it having been removed, much to my delight. That floor is now the most solid one in this 130-year-old house. I couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience, highly recommend Miller Building, and will definitely call upon them again in the future.

The quality of the work was excellent. We went 4 weeks over deadline. Again, the finished product was great. The owners, superintendent, workers, etc., were perfectly amiable, when they were here. I need to add that this was my 1st experience with remodeling. Miller Building did fine work, I just wanted it to go faster. Lots of things were my mistakes and we also ran into some unforeseen issues that probably added to my "over deadline" issues. David and crew were as kind as they could be.

Overall experience could not have been better from beginning to end. All handled very professionally and quality was top notch. We even got a refund because the job came in below the estimate...what contractor comes in below estimate! Mr. Miller was very professional, and always eager to please us. We did find that he was very busy, and had difficulty scheduling work on the house. But he was always responsive to my reminder calls. He said that several storms in the area had done significant damage to other homes and he was trying to fix them quickly to avoid further damage. He did give me his personal cell phone number so that I could talk directly to him. I really appreciated that! Overall the work quality was good, and met our expectations. He also kept to the budget we gave him; that was very important to us.
Description of Work: Mr. Miller met with us to give us an estimate on many types of repairs to a home to be put on the market, and oversaw the repair work done from gutter replacement, to plumbing, to electrical, and carpentry work.

I called Miller Construction to see if they'd bid a small remodel. I wanted to do most of the work but needed a plumber/concrete guy. They didn't feel that their services were needed and that I'd be better served with one of their sub contractors. Terri Miller made the contact with their sub and relayed all the information regarding my job and the plumber called me to schedule an appointment within an hour. Terri actually emailed me a week or so later to see if I had been contacted and if the company had come out to bid the job. Wanted to make sure I was happy with their referral. So, no, they didn't do the job, which is in full swing right now... but they went above and beyond in customer service and if I ever found myself in need of their services, I wouldn't hesitate to use them.

They wouldn't give me a quote.
Description of Work: I called Miller to have them come and give me an estimate both on a kitchen and laundry closet renovation. Both projects required removal of existing walls to enlarge the spaces, and then the finishing of the enlarged areas, including the installation of new cabinets. I have family contacts at a name-brand cabinet manufacturer, and was able to get my cabinets for less than a third of the retail price. I worked with a professional kitchen design firm to plan the layout of the new kitchen, complete with all design schematics. Despite this, Miller would not give me a quote on the job because they do not do jobs for people unless they buy their cabinets through them. That's unfortunate, because frankly, with all that needed to be done, the cabinet installation was a small part of the job.

This is the type of project we have a great deal of experience in and we do well. Declining this project was not something we really wanted to do. It was a decision we made based on past experiences with other clients who have purchased their own materials. During those experiences we almost invariably encounter quality issues, quantity shortages, scheduling delays, misunderstandings, or unexpected costs. We have put in kitchen cabinets (even name brands) before that “look good” but had quality issues like warped styles or doors, poor box construction, etc. that made it difficult for even our professional craftsmen to install to their detail standards. And then we were concerned about how the cabinets would hold up and look a few years down the road and how that might affect our reputation. There are many more scenarios we could share about the consequences of homeowner-purchased materials. We certainly do not fault homeowners for trying to save money. We are well aware that everyone in every budget range is cost-conscious these days. This homeowner had purchasing connections and used a design professional. Had we been the contractor for this project perhaps it would have turned out beautifully, and we hope it does! That may be our loss, but we made the best decision we could. We wish the homeowner all the best and hope they have a successful project! It is disappointing to receive such a low rating when we were honest about our concerns from our first conversation with this homeowner. Please keep in mind that most contractors still give “free” estimates, and that homeowners should not consider those estimates to be an obligation of any business when the contractor feels that the project is not in their company’s best interest. We appreciate this homeowner's call and again wish them the best of luck.

Miller Building responded quickly, and repaired it quickly. I wrote a previous review criticizing their lack of responsiveness, but I really hadn't given them enough time to respond. I called one day, had a return call the next afternoon, and the repair was done the next day. I was frustrated by another company's lack of responsiveness, and didn't give Miller Building a fair chance. Couldn't be more satisfied, and sorrier that I was too quick to criticize.

We had an excellent experience from start to finish. Dave worked with us on the planning and advised us on materials. His estimate was at first over our budget, but he reworked the plans and came very close to our budget. He was prompt providing us an estimate, and work began within only a few weeks.dave's brother Adam oversaw the construction. Workers demolished our old large wooden porch and left not a trace behind. The two workers were extremely neat, punctual, and friendly. They were very detail oriented and I trusted them. Each day the cleanup was perfect- not a nail or screw left behind! Great experience and we are thrilled with our new Aztec/Trex no-maintenance porch. Do remember to Request any eft over materials- you may need them for later touch ups or repairs

Miller Building was amazing! They arrived promptly each day, kept a very tidy work area, and were extremely professional throughout the entire project. At the end of each day they cleaned the entire work area and even went as far as using a leaf blower to clean our driveway! When the project was finished I was blown away by the results! It looked better then I could have imagined! I will absolutely be using Miller Building again in the near future.

I had the exact same experience as the review from 10/6/2011. Called to setup a consulation which took place over a week later. Was told they are busy and not the least expensive contractor. No written nor verbal quote was provided. I followed up two weeks later to the office and was told the message was passed on. I have not heard back regarding my project. I consider the matter closed. While someone may provide great work, I hate being ignored by folks expecting to collect a large sum of money from you.

The project went smoothly at all times. Sub contractors were scheduled with a minimum of lost time. The project was finished exactly on time. The projected time schedule was five to six weeks and it was finished in five and a half weeks. No way it could have been smoother. But remodeling a kitchen does mean moving out lots of dishes and equipment. There will be a few days when the kitchen is not accessible, but they were kept to a minimum. The lead carpenter was always very concerned that I was comfortable and had access to the refrigerator and microwave. The painters had the kitchen sealed off for three days while spray painting. It was available at all other times.
Description of Work: The house is 56 years old. Areas remodeled are kitchen, family room, sunporch, laundry room and powder room. Workers arrived promptly on the start day and my project began on time. A cabinet and bar were removed from kitchen and family room with no damage to surrounding structure. An island replaced the bar in the kitchen. The original cabinet doors had molding added. Original cabinet tops were replaced with granite. The highly skilled carpenter added a corner cabinet that perfectly matched the original corner cabinet. All of the added carpentry work (molding, island, and corner cabinet) were flawless in their construction. All drawers had new sliding mechanisms added that made them roll smoothly. New lighting was installed in the appropriate areas. New carpet was added to the family room and sunporch and Duraceramic tile replaced old linoleum floor in the kitchen, laundry and powder room. Major renovations were in the kitchen and laundry room. All members of the Miller work crew were skilled, courteous and efficient. Subcontractors (painters, plumbers, electricians, and tile and granite installers) were chosen from companies that maintain the Miller standards for skill, efficiency and courtesy. The areas of the house not involved in the remodeling project were sealed off to reduce paint odors and dust from penetrating the remainder of the living space. Carpet and floors where workmen needed to walk were protected with plastic floor covering that remained in place until the job was finished. At all times every effort was made to disrupt as little as possible my continuing to live in my home. When I am ready for my next project I would not consider a builder other than Miller Building and Reconstruction, LLC

As i said we will continue to use Miller Building for all of our needs. From the beginning till now they have earned our trust. We appreciatethe outstanding work they did and will do in the future.
Description of Work: After we bought our house in 2009 we knew that there would be extensive work done on the outside. We hired Miller Building to do the work. We were impressed with the knowledge expertise and professional manner in which we were treated. We were always informed if something came up during the work for instance, we had rot under the old siding that needed to be removed and redone. No work was preformed until we had given consent to move forward. They were fast and kept at the job at hand but nothing was done in a shoddy manner and all areas after the work was completed were cleaned up and policed to make sure nothing was left. We would use them again and will be. In June after a bad wind storm our house was hit by a tree. We immediately called Millers to come out and assess the damage. David his son Alan and wife Terri truly make this business family owned.
