V & C CARPENTRY

Very poorly , we had this house done new about 6 year's ago , at the time a upscale finish was not in our budget so we opted for a solid built house that we could up grade later on. We got bids on the project from 3 contractors the lowest and the guy we wanted opted out and went to the oil field , he had previously built us a custom home that was built like he was building his own dream home . Vince was the highest bidder and when we accepted him he was told what we we're expecting and he would be held to it. A very irritating part of this is when he tries to convince us of what we want and not what we asked for , like the color of the floor it turned out way darker and it doesn't look bad but not what we wanted or want in our home at all , and believe me this is a miner issue in the list of things on the project.(deck looks nice) watch his roofing very close. The job was to be done by his own words maybe 45 days at the most went on for approximately 100 days when he made the decision to pull off the uncopleated job because he wasn't getting paid of course he wasn't the money left in the bid was not enough to cover the floor and windows and complete the project (of course the time delay was our fault because of the " changes" that were nothing more than the way it was supposed to be in the first place) , one day it is to hot the next it is to rainy the next he can't find his keys you get the idea do yourself a favor if you do hire him and hold 25 percent or so for your closing it will be tough because he has more excuses than a 4 year old with a pants full. I spoke to only one fellow who actually used him to clean up a mess made by a very incompetent fellow so to this guy Vince seamed alright. I should have checked him out further so I accept some blame. I have been in positions where I have had to keep present and projected labor analysis I'm not stupid and I do have a vast knowledge of concrete and construction I'm not a carpenter but I do know no what is right and this guy is not . Due to shoddy workmanship I am now having to replace the entire roof along with insulation, roof decking, soffit, propane pipe vent , gutters and snow gaurd. Mr. Brummer and his workers failed to seal the roof ridge material on the addition section of the roof leaving a 2 foot gap without screening. NEGLIGENCE. This was recently recorded by another roofer who came to check out the problem due to the horrific smell I've been experienceing in the house. This lack of preventative screen materials allowed a bat colony to take up residence in the soffit area, and entire underlament of the roof. He also failed to seal the chiminey area where bats have also taken up residence in the older part of the house attic. I recall well that Vince and his crew arrived several days at dusk and worked into the dark to fit the job into their schedule. I was not at all pleased with how he conducted his scheduling and I told him so at the time when the work was being done. He had to return weeks later to properly seal a leaking pipe vent that vents a propane stove. The older part of the roof that had been replaced with new metal roofing is completely void any metal screening that elliminates access for critters to enter. Consequently I have a huge mess on my hands that is leading to enormous expense. This should have been at least a 35 year roof (in the least) . I am now looking at replacing the entire structure of the roofing material plus insulation. When I spoke to Mr. Brummer about this problem he missed his appointment time to look at the roof and then suggested that I attack the problem by tearing into my tung and groove ceiling inn the interior of the house. CONSUMER BEWARE - this contractor is BADDDDD NEWS.
