Terrible, worst experience with a contractor that we have ever had.
Description of Work: It was suppose to be a siding job with all new windows around the house, what it was a a two month long process of some days showing up and others not and after phone calls learn that they would try to get there in a couple of days. Vintage Roofing and Construction LLC is not a Construction company at all, they do roofs and that is it and people should know that. The siding that is on our house done by Vintage all ready has loose boards and the lines are very noticeable, some of the trim has not even been painted. The brand new windows that were put in, were done so with no sealant of any sort. We realized just how poor of a job they did when we could feel wind coming in through our daughters CLOSED windows. The job requested was for new siding and new windows. We left for a weekend trip just as they were starting. We came 3 days later with the old siding stripped, some windows out and excitement that the job was starting and would have a "new to us" house! It only went down hill from there. Most days we could expect someone to be there. In the beginning the foreman for this job let us know when he would be there in the morning, his progress during the day and when he was leaving at night. A conflict in the company led to this man leaving our job and going to another (eventually he left Vintage for reasons unknown). Vintage then put Kyle Conn (last name spelling may be wrong) in charge of our house and finishing it. Nothing could have been worse. Some days the crew was here at 8a.m some days 10a.m and some days they did not show up at all. I spent the days they were here in the basement with our two small children to be away from the noise and had ask that they keep me posted if they were coming. They never did. The work Kyle and his crew did was slow. Slow as molasses. On days that it was only Kyle working here, we were lucky to see one piece of siding go on. The painter that followed behind to make the seams look better left white caulk marks on our new GREEN siding. This went on for over two months. We kept thinking they would check their work and clean up the marks or that maybe they were waiting to finish before they did the finishing touches. We should have spoke up the second that we felt this job going wrong. Very very wrong. On the inside of the house we were dealing with the same situation with the new windows. Part of the sheet rock in our sons room was torn when one of the workers pulled out the old windows. Instead of telling us, they never said anything and when we saw it, again we assumed they would fix it before they left. That did not happen. The trim went up on the windows, unstained (we did tell them we would stain it ourselves, I was under the impression they would let us stain it BEFORE they put it up) and very quickly. My husband and I were looking out our new front bay window and leaning on the bottom trim. It moved. Not just a little, ALOT. In the dining area we have large windows with 8 foot trim. We asked for the trim to be rounded since the area is almost like a pentagon. Kyle put up 1x4's, nailed them together, some with the stamp from where they came from still showing, did not sand at all and told his boss, Robert Robertson that he was done on our site. Done?! We had loose siding, caulk marks and finger prints where the painter/caulker had not wiped it down, loose trim on the interior, leaking windows, torn sheet rock, and later we would discover NO INSULATION around any of the windows. We called Robert and complained. He brought back the original foreman to fix the large window trim. We thought this would mean the rest would be fixed as well. Some of it we had no idea was an issue. This has taken over a year to realize just how bad Vintage Roofing is at windows and siding. With the trim around one group of windows semi-fixed we just wanted to move on. Honestly we were sick of being under construction. This job never ever should have taken this long, nor should it have come with so many headaches. We even had one day that one of the workers laid sprawled in our front lawn for the better part of the morning. They loaded up their things, called the job good and didn't fix anything. They left.We started calling Robert with complaints of what was going on. A leaky window, he sent someone to put an overlap of roofing on and spray foam into the crack. It was terrible to look at from the yard. We called to say that in January we could feel wind coming into our daughters room from the window. The window was closed. We called all winter and even the following spring giving him a chance to fix all the wrongs Vintage Roofing has done. He never once answered our calls, returned our messages or tried to contact us. When we realized that our daughters room was an icebox because of the new windows we had to call someone else to check it out since Robert would not respond. That is when we were told that our windows did not have any insulation. Not one of the new windows had been properly installed. This spring we had new concrete laid. While one of the men looked at our siding he asked if we had paid for it and pointed out to us multiple loose boards, a vent not properly installed, MORE unpainted trim, caulk marks and nails showing. Again we tried to call Robert with out any response. The work that Vintage did should not even be called work. It should be called the disappointment that was paid for. Now we are just tired of even trying to get a response from this irresponsible contractor. We have accepted that the work they left behind will have to be done by someone that actually knows what they are doing and Vintage does not. The only thing they got right on this job site is the color we picked out. We would not recommend Vintage to anyone. They are a terrible company to deal with, while they work and after they leave. Shame on you Robert Robertson.
