It is with great sadness that I write this review of Bozeman Pest Control. We recently hired this company who we thought to be experts in the field of pest control, to assist us in our problem with mice and pack rats at our newly constructed home. Rachel Holt, the manager was fully aware that we had three dogs at the time she came to our home to assess the situation. Rachel advised that there were two options; traps or self contained bait stations . She further advised the bait stations were the better option to fully rid us of these pests. I repeatedly asked her if these bait stations were safe from our dogs. She assured me the only possible way this may be problemic is if they were to ingest a rodent who had eaten some of the bait. She replied we would know if that happened because the dog would "spit up some blood, at which time you have plenty of time to take them to a veterinarian and get a remedy and they wound be fine". I assure you this is not the case. Our one year old French Brittany Ethel apparently ingested this bait. My husband came home the evening of May 15th, 2017 to find her non stop profusely vomiting blood . He rushed her to the Pet Emergency Services in Bozeman who gave her little hope of survival. After consistently draining blood from her lungs, transfusing her with fluids, plasma and massive doses of vitamin K, they said she had a chance of survival. She has survived thanks to their quick action and ability to recognize that this bait was an anticoagulant. We were very lucky with Ethel. The veterinarians there as well as at the Gallatin Valley Hospital advised that this bait , Contrac Super Size Bloc is extremely dangerous to pets and must be directly consumed by the pet at which time it travels through the small vessels of the body. We were lucky with Ethel because it invaded her lungs, causing us to see the sign that something was wrong internally. We did not get so lucky on April 7th, 2017, with our 5 year old Jack Russell Ricky. It is our opinion that what we thought to be an aneurism with resulting seizures and immediate death was really a direct result of him ingesting this bait. The veterinarians further advised this chemical can also manifest itself within the other internal organs such as the kidneys, liver and brain at which time there would be no outward sign but that nerologic damage, seizures and death could result. Our goal here is to make sure no other family suffers the way we have because of our trust in Bozeman Pest Control. We share the blame for this situation because we trusted Rachel Holt to be an expert in residential Pest Control for people with domestic pets. It is additinally troubling to us that when we explained this to her , Rachel's consistent comment was " I followed the directions per my training ". The owner Jeff said he couldn't help the fact the dogs chewed up the traps but again that is not what happened. The traps are completely intact but blue powder was found on the ground outside of them. The dogs could not have done this. This apparently is what Ricky and Ethel ingested. It is beside the fact that we have suffered with our pets, but to have fallen prey to a slick marketing maneuver which is not only dangerous and life threatening to our pets but also expensive makes the situation especially worse. Bozeman Pest Control will not take any responsibility for this situation, instead advising us they will take legal action if we tell our story. Please feel free to contact me, Lori Strzelec, directly at (716) 397-3496 if you require any further opinions in regard to Bozeman Pest Control and our unfortunate experience with this company, their manager and owner in regard to residential pest control for families with pets.
