+ -1 moreCaution: Proceed with Tools! Well, buckle up, folks, because my recent encounter with Mitchell Appliance turned out to be a DIY adventure I didn't sign up for! So there I was, facing a Maytag washing machine dilemma, and after hours of YouTube tutorials, I finally admitted defeat and decided to call in the pros at Mitchell Appliance. The tech arrived on time, seemed friendly, but that's where the smooth ride took an unexpected detour. Within the first 10 minutes, it became apparent that I wasn't just paying for a technician; I was unwittingly signing up for a collaborative handyman project. The tech started raiding my toolbox, asking for tools I didn't even know existed. I became a tool sherpa as he borrowed my hammer, pry-bar, and who knows what else. But wait, it gets better (or worse). When the tech hit a roadblock, he casually mentioned the need for penetrating oil, a magical elixir apparently not included in my tool arsenal. Cue the unsolicited advice on purchasing a new washer. Oh, and let's not forget the "service fee" and the discounted "time fee" he gladly charged for this interactive session. Later that evening, armed with a $10 bottle of penetrating oil from Ace Hardware, I tackled the supposedly insurmountable challenge myself. Lo and behold, the wash plate surrendered without a fight! Lesson learned, folks: If your appliance repair resembles a team-building workshop where you're the assistant, it might be time to slam on the brakes. Skip the service fee, keep your tools to yourself, and perhaps invest in a bottle of penetrating oil instead. #MitchellMysteryTools #DIYOverService

Description of Work: Called to have an evaluation of a troubled refrigerator. He diagnosed over the phone and then recommended another business to contact who'd be able to get to our project sooner. I did, they did...all is well.

+ -1 moreMitchell showed up right on time and looked at what we thought was the problem. Seemed like the timer was the problem, so they replaced it. Fair price for parts and labor. BUT the problem continued after they finished. They came back in the afternoon and rechecked everything. Turns out that one of the coils in the heating unit was touching a metal bracket and was actually causing the problem. They replaced that, and dropped the price 80 bucks because the parts weren't as expensive. Tested and works like a charm. Did some great troubleshooting, found the problem, and handled it. We definitely will keep their number for any future appliance issues.

Description of Work: Our refrigerator-freezer stopped cooling. My troubleshooting techniques included referring to an appliance repair book, researching the internet for possible solutions and paying a specific site for expert assistance. The web site advice was marginal, but confirmed my suspicion that the compressor needed to be replaced. I contacted another appliance repairman in my community to see if he was licensed to capture refrigerant and if he knew where I could purchase a replacement compressor. The gentleman explained he was not licensed for such work and referred me to Mitchell Appliance Repair. Mr. Mitchell discussed possible causes with me over the phone and suggested I shake the compressor solenoid to see if it rattled - which it did loudly. I took the solenoid to Mr. Mitchell's house and he located an exact replacement in the stock in his service vehicle. The part was $30 (but I paid him $50 because his advice saved me a repair fee). Back home, the part went in easily and the appliance began running normally. Previously, my wife suggested we replace the defective appliance with a new one - which would have cost over $2500. Because of Mr. Mitchell's troubleshooting assistance and for having the part available, I saved a significant chunk of money that day. I was very pleased about his willingness to work with a 'do-it-yourselfer' like me.

Description of Work: Had difficulty completing the repair of my oven (know now that he should have replaced an additional part so what he was trying to repair would be successful). Was without my oven for a month and finally had someone else repair it. First part didn't work - next part was given to someone else by company he orders parts from - next part didn't work (because he needed to replace 2 parts). He did not keep me in the loop on progress, he did not show up when he told me he would. He is a kind person - however I will not use his services in the future.

Description of Work: Mitch came right over to the house when I called him, and discovreed the issue with my washer within a few minutes. He was able to get it working despite a bad pump motor, ordered the pump, and replaced it in 15 minutes after it arrived.

Description of Work: Probelm: Refrigerator ice make malfunction. Called Mr. Mitchell early in a.m.; he was at another job -- explained my problem; he stated he'd call when finished. Called within hour; I told him that ice-maker had been problematic for some time and wanted it replaced. He also suggested replacing the control valve -- I agreed. He obtained the parts and within another hour was at the house. Job was satisfactorily completed before noon. Total Satisfaction. Recommend!!!
