Good Roofing

They were very kind. They were nice people. They were punctual. They did the work quickly. We didn't even know they have been here. There were no unexpected issues.

Malarky also did NOT stand behind the defective shingle. I upgraded the replacement shingle at a cost of $1000.00. Then I had to pay another $1000.00 to have the second layer of shingles tore off (and not just the defective layer). I could not believe they charged for this, as ripping off the first layer would have made the original layer a mess. I asked for a brown drip edge; they said fine there is no cost difference, then they installed a white drip edge. Roofer used a different color shingle on part of the ridgelines. The caulking they applied was not uniform and had holes in it. They also did not leave me any of my left over shingles. I asked for the left over shingles several times. I got a different story each time. Once the answer was "didn't have any". The next time it was "we never leave the leftover shingles". I have had seven roofs shingled; there is always leftover shingles. They also were not responsive to my phone calls about the sloppy installation of the metal drip edge. After numerous calls they came out and fixed some of it. I would NOT recommend this roofer to anyone.

Roof is leaking again after only two years. Company refused to respond to call for help to inspect or make good on its work (warranty only 2 years they say), and was very rude and abusive on the phone. I would never use this company again.

Overall was not a pretty picture. A day late when giving the estimate, okay life happens, but a phone call cancelling would be nice. The roof started leaking first good rain later in the spring. I called the company and they assured me they would be out to fix it. I work long hours and took him at his word. That fall again my walls were covered in water stains. He came out, I was home this time. He walked around on the roof and told me when he came down he would return later with materials to fix the bubble of material. He did not come back for a few days and a few phone calls. The roof was guarranteed for five years. The overall average of the his return to fix his work was once a year (actually total times was six times). My next call will be to another company.

I was referred to this roofing company by a neighbor because they said Good Roofing had done a good job for them. The quality of and reliability of the personal service is important in this kind of work. The bidding and contract formation went okay. When it came to perform, however, without my permission or even notifying me, they sent over a completely unknown crew from a company neither I nor anyone I could find had ever heard of. The company they sent is not registered with the Montana Secretary of State and I was unable to check them out before they started. They had taken twice as long as any other roofer on the street, then left in the middle of the day on a Friday, when the reasons for their delay had been rain. When I called them, the man I talked to accused me of racism and both he and the owner's primary contact used very abusive and fowl language on the phone. I demanded the company that I did contract with send a different crew to finish the job, which they complied with. Time will tell whether the roof they put on is any good or not, but my experience getting the job done was a nightmare.
