Description of Work: New customer set up of internet, TV and phone. The installer arrived on time and was patient in his instruction of the new equipment. He wore protective shoe covers while working inside which impressed us. The only complaint is that he did not speak loudly enough for my husband who has a hearing deficit. I had to repeat everything so that my husband could follow what was said. We are very impressed with the speed of the internet and happy that we chose Charter. Also, our initial contact with Charter's customer service was both pleasant and helpful.

The first guy could not get our email working. We spent 2 separate 2 hour phone calls and the provider could not restore our email. We have had to create a gmail account to use now. We also lost the ability to use our voicemail. Nobody can leave a message. We have bundled services so this is really frustrating. The rep on the voicemail problem put us on hold and finally hung up on us when he could not help us. His supervisor called back. During this 'help' we also lost the ability to use our phone. The rep said it was probably because it was a new number. We have had this same number for over 20 years. Supervisor calls back on the cell phone and proceeds to not be able to fix it either. We go for over 24 hours without our landline for no reason whatsoever. The mortgage company we were dealing with at that point could not reach us as they were calling our landline and did not know our cell phone number. We are looking for other services now. The voicemail does not work. We have no Charter email and cannot get any help with it. The reps cannot solve the problems. We still don't know why our phone number would not work for over 24 hours. REALLY bad service and by the way, the digital cable keeps freezing up now. Nice work Charter.
Description of Work: Charter took over Bresnan's accounts from Optimum. We lost our ability to use our voicemail services and needed badly to have this service working properly as we were expecting very important phone calls Thursday, Friday and Saturday of last week. We could not receive voicemail messages so called to have them fix it. It just stopped working beginning of the month and we still don't have email from them since May 1st.

They now go by charter communications. The tech who installed it was here fairly close to the start time but he rushed through our install and didn't stay long enough to verify everything worked properly. I spent the next day figuring out the mess he left and fixing our phone myself. When we contacted customer service they gave us the option to have them call back later but they never called back.

Good information. I was looking for internet providers and was told basically they are the only game in town. They are now Charter. Others such as Comcast do not have the rights to provide internet via cable to the state of Montana. The service prices were reasonable in light of the fact that they have no competition. Internet was $39.95 on it's own and installation was $29.95. Internet dropped to $29.95 if it was part of the "Value Package" at $96.84 per month (includes one cable box) but right now there was a promotion for only $76.84 for the first 12 months. There are no contracts. Basically you pay the installer when service is hooked up and you can cancel at any time. The only thing I did not care for was the persistence of the phone center representative to "hook up today" (and I am a commissioned salesman!). I did end up scheduling and install but told them they need to call me sat least 24 hours prior to arrival in case I decided to use the mobile hotspot feature on my phone instead. I was told I need to call them if I don't want it. I made myself clear that their technician showing up at our door with no need to be there if they didn't check with me first was not going to be my responsibility. He then said they would call me 1-2 hours prior to arrival. Overall these experience was positive and informative although a bit pushy. Considering they have no competition they could back off a little on the aggressive sales retorhic.

The first technician that came on Monday didn't make sure the Internet was fully working before he left. When I tried to use the new service I had to waste a couple of days on the phone trying to trouble shoot the problem. The phone and Internet didn't work. My telephone lines number was unable to be transferred back to my old provider because the number was In limbo. After a long amount of waiting on the telephone and trouble shooting with automated services. I got a real technician who scheduled a Internet technician to come out to the house to try to fix the problem. This was a success and I won't be switching again until I forget about this whole nightmare somehow. Maybe it will take amnesia.
Description of Work: Troubleshoot Internet connection, got my modem working with the router. Put up all new cable line from the alley to the house. Sent out technicians when my Internet didn't work. It did take from Monday til the weekend but it works great now.

The tech was ahead of schedule and asked if he could come early. It was good so that I did not have to wait around. He got here and there was a problem with the connection. He worked through it and solved the problem before leaving so that I would have Internet service. It worked out very well.

Recently Bresnan was sold to Cablevision or as they now call it here Optimum. I can say there is nothing optimum about my new service provider. The rates are higher, the service is less reliable and the customer service is the worst I have encountered. I have called twice in the last 3 months to make a payment arrangement, the first time I was a week or 2 over due and had an emergency that sucked up some cash and I had always been able to let them know what day I would be in and pay then with no problem well not anymore. I was shut off for 3 days and even after paying it took me more then an hour on the phone to get my cable back on. The second time this happened we were getting our check the next day and they would not wait 18 hours for payment and again another hour on the phone to get service restored. To make matters worse they have cut me back 4 channels and are charging me $20 more a month for the same service. I always thought you should reward loyalty but it seems this company only offers new customers deals because for the same service I am paying $170 while the new people pay $90. Not to mention they do not even have an office in my town and I have to drive 30 miles to even pay and get a real receipt of payment. Optimum should be renamed inconvenient, it would be more accurate. I implore anyone new to the area to seek out another set of services what seems like a good deal today will be your headache tomorrow. After 5 years as a loyal customer this new company is not getting my business!

it did not go so great. explanation in above paragraph.
Description of Work: i had a complete install of the triple play package, cable internet, and landline telephone. first the representative no showed on my initial appointment date and had the nerve to lie about coming to my house. then when the representative finally did show up for the second appointment he did not make sure all of my phone outlets were operational and left a mess inside and out side my house with drywall remnants, discarded, wires, and insulation. he also left a hole in one of the bed rooms where he installed th cable where nothing was going through it as if it were a mistake he hoped i would not discover.
