Baker Transfer & Storage- Allied Van Lines

The rep came to my home and did an extensive walk through and catalogining of items to be moved. He was very helpful and answered all questions and has been available for further questions and advice for packing. The office is very organized and all the staff friendly and helpful. The move is scheduled for June 2013.

We ended up using Baker Moving & Storage in Billings, MT., based on the estimate provided by their estimator who came to our house. The move ended up costing us almost 2 1/2 times as much as was estimated. He estimated 6000 lbs and the movers said it was more like 12,000lbs. The packers had expected to be there 1/2 day and it ended up taking all day. I called the office on the Monday after our move and complained about the high charges. The manager I spoke to said it was up to the owner and took my phone number. I never did get a call back, but did receive a check in the mail yesterday with at 10% refund. A far cry from what was originally estimated, but at least it was something. The movers did a fair job. But left a lot of the heavy boxes upstairs that should have gone down. It would have been nice if the notes on the boxes had all been left facing out so you could read them, instead of a lot of the notes facing backward so the boxes had to been turned around to read. Also, the pegs holding the shelves in the bookcases were removed. We haven't found them yet. It would have been nice to know where they are. I would recommend to any one contemplating using a mover, that cheapest isn't always the best. Do some more research and you will be happier with the end result.
