We received an unsolicited advertisement (post card) from this business, Bent Oak Lan Management... Free estimate requested and provided... Job Quoted... Quote accepted and agreed upon... First job started and NEVER completed- with an explantion of: "I would rather quite(quit) and you would just get someone else"... -AND- "A lot it had do with I just feel uncomfortable being on the property. I respect you'll (you all) I just have never been faced with this ( "this" ) that's why I tried to help you'll (you all) out." ALL OTHER JOBS QUOTED INCLUDING FIRST JOB WERE TERMINATED by this business owner, apparently based upon this persons personal beliefs... This is a "best guess," as the actual reasoning was not directly provided or explained!- "I just have never been faced with this". Requests for further explanation of what "this" is continue to go unanswered. We were invoiced for $30/hour for the INCOMPLETE JOB (trimming of our Ornamental Grasses), resulting in an ABSOLUTE MESS that WE are left to clean up and REDO! Bent Oak's Owner even shared that he was not happy with the results of his own work... "I didn't like how it looks as far as cleaning up." The jobs we requested quotes for were mowing, weeding, power washing, relocation of trees, mulching, etc... All of which were projects this company advertised that it could do in its mailing and website. However, NONE that it was able to fulfill and provide, as agreed upon, (verbally and in writing), based upon the apparent personal and religious "convictions" and "beliefs" of the Owner of Bent Oak. This "fact" WAS NOT included, nor shared, on any business advertisements or coorespondence. However, it was verbally hinted at through the mention of a "church" the owner is a member of. If this businesses actual day to day decisions are going to be based on "feelings" and "religiously based convictions", it should be posted as such, (or move back to Mississippi, or on to Indiana where this discrimination and bigotry is protected)... Otherwise, this attitude results in "false and deceptive advertising," which is most likely going to be experienced by those of us who are in any way "different" than how this business owner feels, based upon his own personal opinions, as was in our case. Bigotry should NEVER be a "typical or accepted business practice," as was our experience with this company! This especially stings, as it is coming from a company with the word, "Bent", in its name... The word, "Bent" implies, "open minded" and "accepting"... Definitely, that is the exact opposite of our experience with BENT OAK!!! "Bigotry is a state of mind, where a person obstinately, irrationally, unfairly or intolerantly dislikes other people, ideas, etc." Bottom line: The Invoiced Job was NOT completed as was agreed upon, both verbally and in writing; the actual work done was NOT carried out to an acceptable quality, resulting in extremely poor work, which was billed at $30/hour. However, we are people who keep our word, so we HAVE PAID the Invoice in FULL, even with the given POOR RESULTS & BIGOTED ATTITUDES! Advertised offers of "first job" discounts were not applied (or honored) to these costs as were advertised by the owner per his invoice. As we see it: Initial advertising Postcard and E-mail contact was well handled; nice looking website; nice billing system; job quoting and first meeting was smoothly handled; mowing equipment for use looked to be very nice; actual job and follow up to agreed upon work has been FAR below acceptable and/or reasonable ethical standards; the resulting experience with this company has been absolutely beyond comprehension, without any rational words to explain Bent Oak's business practices for a company operating in this day and age, most especially, in the State of Virginia! We would have posted this issue to the Better Business Bureau, however, this company and listing could not be found, as this Business is NEW to our Area. Don't be fooled! This business HAS NOT been OPERATING in the State of Virginia since 2003, AS IS ADVERTISED in the Bent Oak Mailings, and on its Business Website! Point of Fact... Bent Oak originally hails from the State of Mississippi, where the Civil Rights Movement still yet remains a struggle, even in the Year of our Lord 2015! Our Advice to the Consumer... ASK FIRST, "What are your personal and religious beliefs?" Then, if you happen to agree with them, you will possibly have a reasonable experience with this company. ANYONE ELSE who DOES NOT fit in with the above business owners beliefs, will most likely NOT have a good experience with Bent Oak Lawn Management. BUYER BEWARE!!! Our Yelp Review... with pictures of work done. http://www.yelp.com/biz/bent-oak-lawn-management-elkton
Description of Work: Kevin, owner of Bent Oak Lawn Services, after quoting job, and agreeing (verbally and in writing) to work for given price, started only one portion of a job (trimming of ornamental grasses)... only to quit before the job was finished based on religious/personal beliefs. Bigotry is the only answer we have for this. See details below.

Response from Bent Oak Lawn Managment
Customer bought 5 yards of rock and then called us to deliver it and put it down. We did this and found out to make a good covering we would have really needed 6 yards. I talked to the customer and she had said it was fine she would talk to her husband and see if he wanted us to bring more. She had called back and said she was fine with it. As far as putting stuff back we left it as we found it.
