He arrived each day when he said he would, worked all day in Mississippi heat and humidity and brought the job in at the price he originally quoted although I had him do a couple of extra things. He did more than he acdtually contracted for at what I considered to be an extremely reasonable price. He is also very polite and a true gentleman. I think Steve Mooney is the best.
Description of Work: I had a large wooden deck approx. 12 years old which had termites and was rotting and cracking in many places. Steve performed the following services: 1. Moved all the deck furniture 2. Removed all top boards (which were nailed down with an extreme number of long nails) and replaced with a better grade of treated lumber. This also included adding another 42 square feet to the deck. 3. Removed all the railings 4. Removed the understructure boards and replaced them, lowering the deck about 3" to allow for rain run-off. 5. Rain had splashed off the deck onto the bottom of metal doors for years, causing rust to form. He removed all the rusty areas and had some bottom plates custom made by a metal fabricator. He drilled these metal plates onto the rusty areas protecting the bottom of the doors and painted the entire 3 door panel. 6. Hauled away all waste lumber. 7. Caulked and re-painted the entire rear soffitt where the boards had separated from soil shifting 8. Replaced all items on the deck and cleaned up the back yard perfectly.

+ -1 moreMr. Mooney, from initial contact to completion, was a pleasure to contract with. He and his crew were professional, timely, reasonable, fair, skilled, and courteous. When there was bad weather, he made a point to let me know when he would return. He was very specific as to when he could begin the job and held true to his word. I would, without pause, recommend Mr. Mooney's services.
Description of Work: Mr. Mooney and his crew (one other person) painted the exterior of my house which is entirely composed of cedar clapboards and trim. Not only did he paint, but he repaired trim that was rotted or beginning to rot, as well as caulked in specific areas that needed attention.

+ -1 moreGreat! I called Mr. Mooney and told him I would like to have our home painted, on the outside, and would he come give us an estimate. When he came to give us the estimate, he told me he was working another job and after that one he would call and schedule to come to my home. I knew if he was working for Jackson Prep School system, he had to be good! When he called, I had to extend the time another 2 weeks because of other commitments I had, we rescheduled the appointment and just like clockwork, he came at the agreed upon date. Steve did an outstanding job, cleaned up behind himself, andhe checked behind his employees to make sure everything was done to his and my satisfaction.

+ 0 moreResponded quickly when called for a quoted and followed up with a detailed quote in writing. Was very cooperative in scheduling the work with my schedule, (but it was 3-4 weeks from date of quote). Steve and his helper arrived each day on time, and worked throughout the day. They took care not to make a mess, and cleaned up after themselves each day. THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. The paint looks fantastic, and the repairs are undetectable. They were professional and friendly, and i could not be happier with the work.
Description of Work: Repaired water damage to ceiling and painted kitchen, dining, and living area.

+ 1 moreI was very impressed with Steve Mooney's professionalism and diligence in perfoming his job. He and his helper were very respectful. I was especially impressed of how well the smoothing of the walls were, being basically restored. The office was transformed in just a couple of days. Steve's monetary charge was reasonable. I consider Steve to be on top of his game in construction and remodeling. I would not hesitate to call on his services again.
Description of Work: Our church needed some paneling replaced on the exterior. Steve matched it, removed the old panels and repainted to expectations. The office space walls, ceiling, attaching a wall bookshelf after taking down the old one, was performed to expectations. Three windows were insulated, covered, and sheet rocked. Steve tore off the chair rail and wallpaper. All the walls, which were very rough and unsmooth, were totally refinished. A ceiling hole was repaired, repainted, and a new light fixture replaced. Baseboards were refinished, trimwork done. Clean-up was performed and old material hauled off.

+ -1 moreVery good........in our opinion, Steve went right by the book in addressing our concerns. He met with us one afternoon to look over the concerns. He was very detailed in explaining to us what he thoughts the problems were, what he could do, could not do, etc. in addressing them. He advised us how long he thought he would be working in our home, stated what he thought the cost would be, told us what his coming and going schedule would be when working in our home, explained to us what he had done as work was being completed and what he would be doing next, when his final day in our home would be, etc.
Description of Work: Shortly after moving into our new home in 2007, we started experiencing 'sheetrock issues' (sheetrock tape pulling from wall corners, angled joints, tray ceiling, etc). I contacted my builder on two separate occasions and we understood that these 'sheetrock issues' would be fixed. Bottom line: they weren't on either occasion and I contacted Steve Mooney (Steve had been referrred to me by several of my friends who mentioned to me that Steve was one of the best sheetrock men in Jackson area). Steve spent a good amount of time in our home repairing and fixing the 'sheetrock issues'. In our opinion, Steve did very high quality work and it does not appear we will be dealing with any ongoing 'sheetrock issues'. I should note Steve also performed several other general household maintaince jobs for us and we noticed the same high quality work.

Description of Work: Steve not only paints, he repairs, he builds, he is Mr. Fixer Upper and his great. I have had bad experiences before and it's hard to find someone that you trust, but believe me you can trust Steve.
