Over all, the only good points about the apartment was that they were an okay size, and they were very close to the college campus that I was attending, so I could walk to class. I lived their two years and would recommend to anyone else that decides to live there to suck up to the landlord and landlady, because that's the only way you're going to enjoy your stay there.
Description of Work: Living in this apartment was not the most horrible experience of my life, and definitely isn't the worse place in Starkville that one may live. However, for the price one pays for these tiny, older, and out-dated apartments, I was not impressed with the way I was treated as a tenant. The landlady and landlord (who are in an apartment that has been made as their office in the front of the complex) pick favorites among their tenants. The landlord (whom is also the maintenance man of the complex) is very rude and has a rather frightening and is reminiscent of Billy Bob Thornton's character from "Sling Blade". He, nor the landlady, have any qualms with walking into the apartment without any warning. There were several times that I would awake and walk out into my living room, still in my pajamas, to find the maintenance guy standing in the hall changing the a/c filter. The appliances in the kitchen are very out-dated. Our stove was insanely tiny considering the actual size of the kitchen, and was also off balance so anything put into the oven would half half of it burn, and the other half not get cooked at all. The washer and dryer are put in an inconvenient closet space in the kitchen, of which the doorway to is so small that you can't open the dryer door more then about five inches. Also, despite three "maintenance requests", a duct was never put from the dryer to the outside wall, so all the heat and lint from the dryer was just blown out into the apartment. The living room also did not have a single ceiling light in it, and the wiring for the three lights in the kitchen were done so badly that every other week they would blow the bulbs in them. This also went for the ceiling fans in both the bedrooms, of which I eventually just gave up on having a ceiling light in my room. The cheap paint and plaster they used on the walls would often chip and peel off without warning. Also, the insulation in the apartment was so bad that you'll end up paying double on electricity for running the a/c or the heat because everything escapes through the unsealed windows, or around the front door and back sliding glass door. The door to my apartment was installed so badly that, when fully closed and locked, you could see a crack all the way around the door where sun-light filtered through. The foundation of the apartments is cracking, which can easily be seen by walking out onto the back cement deck of the apartment that is breaking off the apartment building and trying to slide down the hill in the backyard. Also, if you have bad neighbors you might as well give up on having a nice, peaceful remainder of your lease. I was constantly getting blamed by the landlord and landlady for the loud parties the fraternity guys and sorority girls in the apartments above and next to me were having. At one point, I was accused of being on drugs and throwing fire-crackers at the girls that lived above my apartment. Then I was threatened, upon my denial and claim that I didn't even know where to buy fireworks around there, to have my apartment searched for drugs. This all caused because the girls upstairs did not approve of my quiet, make-up-less lifestyle and the guys living next to me didn't want to take responsibility. On another occasion, I was threatened to have my dog taken away from me from lacking of "cleaning up behind her" in the backyard. However, my neighbors and tenants in the building next to mine constantly walked their dogs (around five dogs in total) around my apartment and didn't clean up after them. So I was made to constantly clean up after other people's animals.
