 + -1 moreReplacing the electrical wires for my irrigation system went well and was within the estimate of 650 dollars. An additional 1000 dollars was then charged for looking at the system and fixing nothing additional. 1000 dollars for workers to observe a broken system without anything getting fixed is far more than I would have been willing to spend had I known the result would have been that my system was exactly the same as it was before I spent 1000 additional dollars. In the end, Love Irrigation took 200 dollars off the bill, which is still far more than I think is fair.
Description of Work: Replacing the electrical wires for my irrigation system. Looked at the system with leaking pipes and non functioning sprinklers and fixing nothing additional.

 + 0 moreThe provider arrived on the job on the date promised but failed to give advance notice of the estimated time of arrival and therefore there was a delay in services actually beginning for at least 20 minutes or so until I could arrive. After that a couple of hours or so were spent attempting to locate the electrical wires and boxes. Apparently, the locating device that they were using was not functioning properly. After, the area of concern was finally located in the area where a leak repair and tree cut had been done by another vendor. It appeared that wires had been accidentally cut in that area. The location of the cut was found and repaired. Additionally, two other sprinkler heads were replaced. We protested the bill because of the inordinate length of time spent finding the wires and the owner made a modest adjustment. Approximately a week or so later, in the same area of the wire repair, a pipe came apart in the late evening or early morning causing a gushing of untold gallons of water. The vendor was called and a fews days later came and repaired that leak. The cause of the leak is undetermined. Both the gentlemen who repaired the earlier leak from tree roots and this vendor, worked in that precise area. The pipe appeared to be intact when it was uncovered by this vendor and it did not malfunction, apparently, until several days later. As I, indicated above, I would use the vendor again.
Description of Work: The provider was originally called to determine why certain stations in our lawn irrigation system were not functioning.

Description of Work: technicians repaired a broken sprinkler head and adjusted the positioning of all sprinkler heads so that water landed on the grass rather than in the street or on the driveway. They also helped me reprogram the system for automatic use. The two technicians were very professional and knowledgable. the cost was reasonable and was explained to me on the phone when I made my request for service. I will definitely call them again in the fall to "winterize" my lawn irrigation system.

Description of Work: I contacted Love's Irrigation to install a french drain and scheduled an appointment.From the very first appointment they stood me up!When i called Paul Love he was very rude and arrogant.I had mentioned to them that i was on vacation that week.The appointment was scheduled first thing Monday morning but no one called or showed up.I called about 11:20am and asked were they still coming because i have a 9:00 appt.Paul stated that"They were on a job in the Delta and that they could get me the next day because i said that i was on vacation"as if my time was not important!After they showed up i asked Paul what was the purpose of having an appt if they were not going to honor it because i was sitting around waiting for them.Paul's response was "We are here now so what's the big deal you said you are on vacation"This is very unproffessional and he was mean,rude,arrogant,and inconsiderate.To add insult to injury the french drain didn't work;the rain washed the pebbles onto the patio and water was still flooding my patio.After i notified them of the problem they showed up while i was at work and put up a cheap barrier around my patio and it still failed.Then he mailed me another bill for $45.00 This whole project was not done proper because the drain was not deep enough to have the proper slope and i overheard the workers saying thats good enough! throughout this entire ordeal Paul Love never apologized or showed any concern for inconveniencing me and botching up the job HE WAS SO MEAN AND HATEFUL THIS WORK WAS DONE IN APPX 2003 I WILL NEVER HIRE THEM OR REFER THEM TO ANYONE BECAUSE THEY FAILED IN EVERY CATEGORY I WAS NEVER MEAN OR IRATE WITH THEM I WAS ALWAYS PATIENT AND PROFESSIONAL BUT I SHOULD HAVE REPORTED THIS YEARS AGO BUT JUST RECENTLY GOT A COMPUTER AND JUST RECENTLY JOINED ANGIE'S LIST

 + 0 moreDrainage in back yard has been a huge problem. Love was very upfront and mentioned that the drain might not fix all of the problems but will help. That is exactly what happened. There was a problem with the drain to the street and Love made it right without any additional cost.

Description of Work: I hired Love Irrigation to install a nine inch catch basin, replacing a smaller one. I was told that the smaller catch basin was not adequate. | |My back yard was flooding when there was a very heavy rain. The French drains were not working adequately for one reason or the other. That is why I called Love Irrigation. | |Love Irrigation charged $53.50 to assess the problem and the solution. They quoted me a price of $314.26 which included the $53.50 and $95.00 per hour. Not realizing how much time, labor, and equipment were involved in the installation of a catch basin, I agreed on the price, assuming my problem would be solved since they said it would be. It was not! | |It took one worker 45 minutes to install the catch basin. When I asked why it cost so much, I was told that three workers were present. I was not told that I would be paying $95.00 per hour per worker! Does that mean that I paid $95.00 per hour for each of the other two workers to sit in the truck doing nothing?!! By the way, I never laid eyes on the third man. | |When I have hired companies in the past to do work for me, their per hourly rate was not per person! I, personally, keep up with the time spent from the time they start the job until they finish. | |I will not hire Love Irrigation again! | | | |

 + -1 moreMy irrigation system has four zones of which only one was working and that partially; due to changes in my landscape I no longer need the use of two of the zones and only need partial use of the other two. The vendor repaired some leaking pipes and fixed some broken wiring; capped off several sprinkler heads that are no longer needed; also added two faucets connected to the main meter which bypasses all of the zones.
Description of Work: Restored functionality to my residential irrigation system and added a few enhancements.

 + 0 moreWe called Love Irrigation on Monday June 3rd. We set up an appointment for Tuesday morning June 4th at 8:30am. I believe they arrived at approximately 8:50am and completed the work within one hour. (their hourly rate is $90/hr.). Both gentlemen were courteous and well groomed. My husband showed them the system and what needed to be done, and they did everything he asked as well as adjust a few sprinklers that we were unaware needed repair. (they cleared these repairs with us before doing the work of course.). They promptly sent us a bill a few days later and we have paid it and will definitely call Love Irrigation if we need more work done on our sprinkler system.
Description of Work: Repaired heads on our in-ground sprinkler system. Replaced seven broken sprinkler heads, adjusted 3 heads and straightened 6 heads that were bent or crooked.

 + -1 moreThe work was done in several phases - the creek bed and irrigation were done first, the landscaping and planting later in the winter and the sod in the spring. Everything went pretty well, we asked the workers to minimize the damage to the front yard (where the lawn was already well established), and for the most part, the damage was minimal. Obviously, trenches had to be dug to lay the pipes, but they carefully peeled back and replaced the existing sod. The gardeners and installers were very competent and provided good advice when needed. Jerry was personally present most of the time the work was performed, and for the most part returned calls and came out promptly whenever we had concerns. There were several occasions when they didn't have the shrubs we planned and had to wait for a couple of weeks, but they were all eventually provided. A couple of them turned out to be the wrong color once they bloomed and Jerry had them replaced. After the irrigation was installed, Jerry spent a lot of time explaining how to program the system and I think we have a really first class system. After the first season, we had a few spots that didn't get sufficient water coverage, and in late 2011 we added a couple of sprinkler heads and moved some of the installed sprinklers, and for the 2012 season it worked out very well. If I had to do it over again, I would not skimp on the sprinkler heads, best to have too many than too few, you can always reduce the watering time, but it's important to get good coverage. I would also spend more time laying out the system using a CAD modeling tool to make sure the heads are optimally placed.
Description of Work: We worked with Jerry on some substantial landscaping in our back yard and installation of a sprinkler system in the front and back. We received detailed plans, conducted numerous discussions and made several changes before getting started. The work included: - installing a dry rock creek bed in a water drainage ditch - installing flower/shrub beds in shaded areas of the back yard and behind the house, lined with liriope grass - planting shrubs in back yard - installing irrigation in front and back with total of 4 zones - installing sod in back yard - supervising the installation (by the city) of a second water meter for the irrigation

 + -1 moreMade the initial call to Love Irrigation on 10/4/10 and left a message with Carol who told me someone would call me back that day to set up a time to come to my house and look at the work to be done. No one returned my call that day, or the next day. On 10/6, I called back and spoke to Carol, who transferred me to Jerry. I spoke to Jerry with whom I discussed at length the work to be done. After our discussion, I was comfortable with having the work done on the first visit, without an estimate. He told me the crews would be there on Thursday 10/7 and he would call first thing to let me know when they'd be there. No crews showed up at my house on Thursday, so I called late in the day to follow up. Jerry said that the crews had run behind and he would call me first thing Friday 10/8 to let me know when they'd be there. He did, and the crew finally did come on Friday to complete the work. Overall, not a terrible experience but returning calls and punctuality could have been much better. Also, Jerry sometimes sounded on the phone as if it was an inconvenience for me to call and find out why they didn't come or call when they said they would.
