DAYON'S TREE SVC

Servicemen ground down several large stumps in my yard.

That guy is fantastic. He is not the cheapest guy around, but he is insured and he is bonded and he has got professional guys. One of his tree cutters has been with him for over 20 years. The guy is phenomenal. And he told me before he did the job that they will do this for this much money, and when we're done we will clean up everything and you won't even know we were here. And he was true to his word. They even dug up my plants and moved them, so that when they chop the trees down it won't break my plants. They grounded the stumps, they put everything back in the holes, they replanted my plants, it was fantastic. You don't get that kind of service anymore. He is a retired city fire fighter. He has been doing the tree thing for years and when he retired he got into it full-time.

Tom Dayon called me back immediately and came same day to give an estimate. Estimate was fair compared to two others. We waited about a month, then called- seems like they had me on the schedule within a week of calling back. Called the night before to confirm. They were prompt- showed up at 8:00 a.m. with professional looking trucks and equipment, and 4-5 workers who all wore company t-shirts and work pants, and were very polite and focused. Tom was there, and we quickly walked though the plan, and he pointed out the man who would be in charge if he stepped away or wasn't there then they finished. He asked if they needed to preserve any plants/flowers around tree (I said no, I had assumed would have to go.) Then, they got started. They removed two fence panels and a post, and brought in a big bucket truck, a grinder, a small front end loader and 3-4 other pieces of riding equipment. They tied each piece of the tree, cut and lowered it to the ground, and removed debris before they moved down the trunk. When they got to the ground, another man tapped on my back door. He was very polite- apologized for disturbing me- and asked again if they needed to be careful of the rosebush or the herb plants I had at the base. I said no, just to do whatever they needed to do to get the job done. He thank me, apologized again for bothering me. After they got the second stump ground, they were done and gone by 10 or so. They would not put my fence back up, which he told me when he gave me the estimate. I appreciated his honesty in saying that they were not fence building or repairing experts. He had some help winning my bid- the other two companies I called were unprofessional during their estimates and did not build my confidence.
