Trouble started almost immediately. I think John intends to build a decent house, but his inexperience and greed get in his way. Used mostly workers of questionable immigration status Did not properly supervise sub contractors, most days he would drop off supplies in the morning and disappear. This left me to deal with subs that spoke very little English. Allowed (or forced) concrete finishers to finish slab in the dark using only the light from one truck headlight.. This left me with a slab that is far from perfect, huge issue as we planned to do stained concrete. Ended up using alternate flooring a our cost. Installed used deadbolt locks on house, tried to say his worker used an abrasive clear that damaged the finish. Nope they were used, scratched and all. Not sure of a cleaner that leaves brass tarnished. Used wood beams that protrude 4 inches through the attic floor. We had hoped to one day make the attic a family room for the grandkids. The majority of the interior doors do not close correctly. I can see from my bedroom into the kitchen with the door closed. Most do not latch when closed. One toilet flange was placed 8 inches from the wall, he had to bust out concrete and use an of set flange and still had to use a 10 inch set back toilet. Bath tub faucet is (was) held in place with silicone caulk. The plumbing in the wall has come loose and this was his fix. Few if any corners meet at 90 degrees, some are so far off that my 16 year old daughter noticed. Most walls are very wavy. Insisted he had to use wood lumber to trim porch (even though our contract clearly states he would use Hardie Trim), now the wood is warping and looks awful. Bid a very specific window in our contract and then substituted a much cheaper window. Refused to show an invoice to credit us the difference. Called and left hateful voicemails and emails threating court action if we did not pay him full price, ultimately we settled through my attorney. I could list items for days that went wrong on this project. I realize that all homebuilding projects have issues, but we had WAY more than standard and John refused to address most of them correctly (i.e, silicone holding on the faucet). I will be posting pictures videos and emails so the you can be the judge for yourself.
