I called Benjamin Franklin to come and replace a facet on the back of my house on April 13, 2016. They replaced everything including the interior and exterior valve. This cost me a staggering $525! Last week I went to turn on the facet and heard something inside the house. When I inspected it I found that the interior valve was leaking a lot all over the basement where the handle stem enters the valve housing. Naturally I call them and they say it is out of warranty (2 months) and I would need to pay for another service call of $89 and replace and parts and labor so most likely another $525. Plumbing repairs should last decades and not months. I am seriously upset with Benjamin Franklin in New Hope, Minnesota.

Joe G. came and took off toilet, said it had to be snaked and called someone else from company to com out. Paid $89 for service call. Joe B came out and snaked the drain and said he couldn't see anything but that one of the pipes looked a little bent. He recommended buying a new toilet for $1199. (How does that make sense if it is the pipe?) He was going to put the toilet back on but since the insurance company was coming later that week, I told him to leave it off but that IF I didn't buy a new toilet, I would need it reinstalled. He said to give him a call if that happened. Paid him $211. Insurance came out and said toilet was fine, no cracks, etc, so I called Ben Franklin back to set up appt for them to reinstall toilet. Spoke with Molly the manager yesterday morning at 9:30 am, and she confirmed there was no charge for this service as it was already paid for. Matt comes out and tells me it is going to be $317 to reinstall the toilet. WHAT??? I just called that morning and was told it was free as it had already been paid and was part of the service. I refused to pay and he called Molly. She said she did say that, but that she didn't say that there could be extra charges, only that there was no service fee?!! I tried to call Molly but her secretary said she was "in a meeting, leave a message", sent to voice mail where it rang 25 times, and she never answered. When I insisted that Molly, the manager, said there was no charge, he showed me a text message on his phone that read "Charge her what you can get need out of her". I guess he thought that would that would help me understand there was suppose to be a charge. All it did was show me that they were scammers. Matt was at the house for an hour calling different people saying that I wasn't charged what I should of been charged and he was not going to install the toilet for free. He finally made a bottom offer of $100 which I refused because I had already paid $300 to this company, and they were behaving extremely shady and unprofessional and dishonest. So, he finally left, and I, a 52 year old woman, reinstalled my toilet. It took for several hours, and calls to my husband for help (I was in another state), but I installed it. WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. MOLLY, MATT, JOE G, AND JOE B were only interested in selling me a toilet I didn't need and uncharging everything. I am a single mom, elementary school teacher on a tight budget. I was very nervous to use anyone but a mom/pop type of company, but Angie''s List gave them good reviews and so did 2 other people I know. SADLY, in this case, they were wrong!!!
