If you want an honest, reliable, attentive, and communicative contractor to build your forever dream home, do NOT choose Hinton Homes! We invested 70% of our budget with them and had a home that wasn’t completely roughed in. Our front porch was left uncovered to rot at our expense later on. They left our home without working on it for 2 months during hurricane season. They underbid our job, “forgot” to include materials on the bid that we asked to be checked and revised multiple times, then demanded that we deposit $90k more into the bank account, or they would not move forward with our job. Because we are a hardworking middle class family, we had to be conscientious of our own budget because they were not. They very seldomly visited our job site, and it was a big deal for us to ask questions, especially about money. We were told if we were not “difficult to work with,” then they would “take care of us!” Shouldn’t you take care of people because it’s the right thing to do and someone’s paying you for your service? Their subs drank on the job and had their children on the job site unattended to. One of the sub’s kids vandalized our home, where they spray painted our windows, mahogany doors, fireplace, and cypress posts. Not once were we apologized to. Save your money and your sanity, and find another contractor other than Hinton Homes! We only want people to be made aware of what you are in for and not be put through what we were.
