Description of Work: I contacted this contractor about a small job. He said he did small jobs, so I e-mailed a copy of the items I wanted built. He never responded.

 + 0 moreHe does the jobs very well, is very professional and his prices are fair. On short notice He came to fix my garage door and the only thing wrong with it was that my light was unbalanced and he was able to quickly fix it and he did not charge me anything- even though he could have, but because it was so quick and he is so nice, he did not. He always does a great job.
Description of Work: He has done several small jobs for me.

 + -1 moreHe came out and gave me a price and I agreed. He indicated that he would get to it in a week or two. I went on vacation for a couple of weeks and when I returned I noted the sloppy work and called another contractor to complete the work. About a month later he called to let me know that he would be dropping by his bill. I told him about the issues, but he still wanted his $225. Fortunately it only cost me $225.00 to identify his poor habits.
Description of Work: The contractor was asks to replace three shingles. He replaced one with a non matching shingle. He used roofing tar to cover a torn shingle and glue it down. He forgot to replace the other one. But he didn't forget to bill for the $225.00. I confronted him with the deficiencies but he didn't seem to care.

 + -1 moreThursday evening I looked up in my master bathroom and noticed a brown spot and damp looking circle. On Friday, I checked Angle's List for roofers. I saw Mr. Parham's listing and decided to give him a call. He answered the call promptly and to my surprise, said he could come out that afternoon to look at the roof. He came out within a few hours and made the repair. He was very personable and hopefully efficient. I guess we'll find out that part the next time we get a good rain. Assuming the leak is well-repaired (and I have no reason to think otherwise), I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

 + -1 moreAfter the initial consultation and estimate, Van and/or his crew showed up every day and worked until the job was finished. there was minimal dust in the rest of the house; all cutting was done outdoors, and the work site was carefully taped off with plastic sheeting. The job was completed in 3 or 4 days, I believe.
Description of Work: The staircase of my 40+-year-old house required carpet, which I hated. I joined Angies List to find a carpenter who could realistically give me options. 'Handyman Van' was easy to contact through e-mail and by phone, and he stayed in contact with me throughout the process. Van & his crew replaced the old stairs with new oak treads, stained and finished the treads to match my existing hardwood floors, and painted the risers to match my existing woodwork. I am a perfectionist, and he did all this to my satisfaction. In fact, I have to say that Van does EXCELLENT finishing work--very unusual. I had a couple of concerns about finishing the edges/corners of the bottom tread and the transition into the upstairs hall, but Van made everything look the way it was supposed to look--as if it had always been that way. Almost a year later, my stairs still don't squeak or make any other noises, and they look amazing!
