This is a disappointment all the way around. First the installers from Kenny's Appliance showed up without a drill and drill bits, so they had to use my tools. I was not at home so they had to go into my tool room to get what they needed. Then they drilled a hole in our cabinet to install the new microwave. They put a screw through the cabinet into the side of the new Kenmore microwave. This was done in order to avoid drilling holes in the ceramic tile backsplash which already had several holes drilled in it to install the old microwave. More holes didn't matter because they are covered by the appliance. Drilling a hole in our cabinet and into a brand new microwave was totally unnecessary. My wife came home and saw that she didn't like the larger size of the new microwave. Then she noticed the gap between the left side of the microwave and the cabinet, through which she could see a bolt. She was upset about this and said that she wanted the old microwave back. However, the old microwave was gone. It still worked, It just needed a handle. We had decided to replace it because GE wanted $102.00 for a handle. I called the installers from Kenny's. They had taken my old microwave with them to dispose of it. I had not asked them to do this. I told them to hold onto it because it was going back into the cabinet over the range. The installer suggested that I search for a new handle for the old microwave on Ebay. That was a good suggestion because I found one at Seneca River Trading for $48.00. The same installers came back with my microwave. It was dirty and damaged. Paint was scraped on the outer case and there were small dents in it. The microwave had been in the bed of their pickup on a dirt road and it was covered in dust. They did a fair job of cleaning it up. Then they reinstalled the GE microwave and in the process stripped out a nut on the case that was needed to tighten the front of the microwave up to the cabinet. It won't fall, but the microwave doesn't fit the opening like it did before. I need a whole new outer case to fix that now, but the part may not be available anywhere. There are dents in a metal piece of on the front of the appliance that were not there before it was removed. I managed to find a new one at Sears Parts Direct for $72.00. I like the installers at Kenny's and the office staff does a good job of scheduling appointments. However, the installers were sloppy in this case. They showed up without the necessary tools to do the job. They took my old appliance without asking if they should. They drilled a hole in my cabinet without telling me they planned to do this. I would never have allowed that had they told me they planned to do it. I returned the new Kenmore microwave to Sears and they were not happy with the hole drilled into the side of the brand new appliance or the dent that formed when the bolt was tightened up. The installers were careless with the microwave after they were asked to reinstall it, letting it get dirty instead of putting it in a box or wrapping it up to keep it clean. One of the installers tried to put the wrong type of screw into the case of the microwave to secure it to the cabinet and stripped out the nut. Now the microwave doesn't fit the cabinet tightly like it did before. I am looking for a new or used case that might not be available anywhere and certainly will be expensive if I find one. I might use Kenny's again. They can do better than this. If I do call them again, I will give them a written protocol for what I expect them to do and not do.
Description of Work: Reinstalled an over-the-range microwave oven after we decided that we did not like a new one that was installed by the same company.
