Unless you are willing to litigate to have Rusty Otts Construction finalize project I would strongly suggest using a more reputable company

I had a bathroom renovation and expansion planned with expectation of my elderly mother moving in. I needed it with enough room and ease of access for her, although she is still mobile. Handrails, wider doors, etc. Rusty Otts Construction was referred to me through the friend of a friend. He indicated experience and had a few pictures to show of recent work. I indicated to all contractors I was bidding with that it was complete renovation, wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling, a complete gut of existing bath, widening of bath to adjacent room, plumbing, electric, tile, fixtures, etc. An initial design was provided. Original estimate from Rusty Otss was for bathroom renovation of approximately $24,000, including materials and demolition. Estimate included bath, fixtures, plumbing, cabinetry, paint and exterior window replacement. Time for project was 60 days. Demolition went well and was completed rather quickly. Preparation work went well. Sheetrock & mud work was installed, and primed. Add-ons for heated subfloor and skylights was added, for cost of materials & installation as agreed, adding $3,200. Add-on for new electrical subpanel & attic stairs was done, adding $1,400. Subcontractor plumber installed new plumbing to prepare for the fixtures, but within 2 weeks, Rusty Otts did not pay plumber, so plumber came to me seeking payment. Add-ons were completed. Other side projects became predominant, however. Heating/AC unit was defective, and Rusty Otts found a provider and installed, for cost of unit & installation, adding $10,000. Exterior tree removal was proposed & agreed upon with subcontractor, for additional $2,500. Home plumbing sewer line had issue at the city connect, which city indicated was not their problem at the tap. Subcontractor plumber came to dig up drive to attempt repair of sewer line, only to determine it was city connect that backed-up. City blew out the line and all sewer issues were resolved. Finish work began and ended just as quickly. Rooms were primed & painted Tile installation, cabinet installation just discontinued. Workers stopped coming to job site. Final payment was withheld until work was completed. Contractor assured me work would complete by end of March, 2012. Partial payment was provided, and then contractor AND workers never returned. Calls to contractor then went unanswered. Window was never purchased as paid for and requested. Finish work was never completed. Let this review serve to warn those seeking significant work: Get it in writing. Contractor should show proof of license per state law. Contractor should show proof of Bonding, per state law.
