Specialty Construction & Restoration LLC

As with virtually all construction projects, we made several changes during the construction process. Specialty Construction and Restoration, their crew, and sub-contractors worked with us, adjusting the cost and material list as the project progressed. They were always professional and the quality of their work was very good and the price was fair. Several of the changes we made during the construction were suggested by Specialty Construction and Restoration, and significantly improved the final product. Since the completion of this project, we have engaged the services of Specialty Construction and Restoration for a couple of additional projects. One was a residential roof and repairs following the early 2017 tornado in Petal. The other was pouring a concrete dumpster pad and fencing it in. Both projects were satisfactorily completed. We plan to utilize Specialty Construction and Restoration, again, for some upcoming projects. We found Specialty Construction and Restoration to operate with integrity and would definitely recommend them. As mentioned above, we plan to use them again.

The work crews were unprofessional and unskilled. There were cigarette butts and trash thrown in the yard and left on the porch. The paint crew did a horrible job. They took such frequent breaks that they allowed the paint to dry and then restarted causing the paint to be splotchy and uneven. The contractor finally sent experienced painters to re-do some of what was messed up. One of the paint crew etched the wood on my porch floor and spindles by using the pinpoint spray of a pressure washer. This was repaired by using a patch filler. Some of the damage is still present. The exterior job was started the last week of April. It is now the middle of Oct. and I'm still waiting for the job to be completed. The upstairs (2 bedrooms and 1 bath) took over 3 months to complete. That was over 3 months to paint and install new flooring. Each crew that came in messed up something when they came. The carpenters messed up the paint. The painters messed up the floor. The flooring installers messed up the paint. If it hadn't been so bad it would have been comical. I would NEVER hire them to work here again. The contractor, Chip Hill, has submitted an updated invoice. He is charging excessive costs for painting. He is also charging me for installation of siding that would not have been necessary had his carpenters not messed up the original siding. The updated invoice is over $3000 more than the original contract.

They did sub-out a lot of the work, but it was done well. We had a problem with the stain that was used on the ceiling and Chip Hill made them replace the tongue and groove boards due to the stain. He has a great attention to detail. The quality of work is good. They started when they said they would and were done when they said they would be. The price was a little high, but I was willing to trade of the for the higher quality of work. They use high-quality materials as well.
