Once the renovations started, the owner tried to solicit information from our finance company to find out exactly how much we had available. The people he had working on the site did a poor job. They did not keep the area clean as they worked and we received several complaints from neighbors. The owner would come on occasion to make the workers clean up. He originally stuck to the contract and time frame. But as time passed, he would stray from our job, go and work another job and leave us for some time. We had a portion of a sewer drain that busted and had to be replaced. He convinced us to turn that into our insurance company so he could pocket the money. He claims to have repaired the issue, but we are still having issues with it. We kept track of every dollar that we paid to him in case something like this would happen. The quality of work that he did was very poor. There are portions of the floor that are not even and he made to attempt to make even. There were cabinets that were not completely installed. There are lighting issues due to him using old parts and not new. All of the shudders he installed are installed improperly and some do not even match. He had surgery in the later part of '06 and said he would be back to fix issues after he was well, sometime in January of '07. That time came and went and we never heard from him. We eventually tried contacting him and he said he would not be back because he states we were harassing him. We obtained a lawyer, but he informed us that we would not have enough of a case to take to court. There are several portions of their work that needs to be replaced or fixed because they rushed through the job. There are places where they did not mud the drywall and you can see the seams. They did not caulk the tub in the master bath or the sink in the kitchen. The sink has not stopped leaking since he "finished". The list goes on and on and never stops. Also during the construction, we had several items that disappeared from our home from jewelery, electronics, and even copper that came out of the house.
