He was willing to do what was asked, pleasant to deal with. The downside was that I think he did not clean areas before painting and painted over dirty areas around window seals, kitchen cabinets, ceiling vents etc. He did not cover, or remove, fan blades so there was paint spray on them. Windows were not adequately covered so there is a very difficult to remove film on window panes. The paint job itself was a good even well-done job. It was just the little stuff that bothered me. I would us the company again, but only under closer supervision.

They are extremely overpriced. They were quite outrageous. It was a free estimate. It was both an issue of price and they had about a three week turnaround time that they could come and see me. I was trying get the paint before that. I got a couple bids, they were the highest. It just sounded like they were busy. Anybody that gave me a three to four week lead time just didn't go with my schedule. They were very professional.
Description of Work: Shedd's Painting & Remodeling gave me a quote on the outside painting and rooms in the house.

Mr. Shedd has been a delight to work with. He is a master with a paint brush. He is very attentive to details, provides suggestions that enhance the project and saves money at the same time. I highly recommend him for any renovation project.work is incomplete...still in progress
Description of Work: I am beginning my project with Mr. Shedd. Initially he has been polite and pleasant, followed up with quotes, dates and terms of our agreement. That speaks to reliability for me. He continues to exceed my expectations. I am very pleased The project was basically renovating a 1980s house that had been inhabited by an elderly couple who had passed away. There were pull-bars everywhere, years of grease and grim buildup, dirty urine soaked carpets and LOTS of wallpaper. All the vents were molded and dirty. He removed all vents, repaired ceilings, cleaned surfaces, raised vent hood, changed light fixtures and hardware. His preparation was impressive.

Ray and his one to two workers were in the house for seven weeks. That's a long time to have someone in your house every day. They were more punctual than any other contractor I've ever used, in that they were here by eight most every morning and worked a full 8 hours most days. Some days they worked even longer and some days were short days. All in all things went very well. There were a few days they couldn't make it (maybe 5-6) but he was very attentive to the details. We could tell he took great pride in his work. Initally it was just going to be a paint job. After seeing Ray's work, we gave him all the other work we were planning on having performed-such as the floors, electrical, doors and such. Even though I got a quote on every aspect of the home 'renovation' before he started the additional work, there was not a thing he wouldn't do. He even re-caulked the kitchen sink when he heard me fussing to my husband about how there was a spot that wasn't sealed and a small section of the formica was starting to swell. In order to be completely honest, there was one area I had a problem with and my husband told me not to worry about it because 'that's just how contractors are'. I think that's just how some men are! But I did have to pick up behind them some. They'd leave their drink cups from where they'd gotten lunch in the house or in the garage. I also had to deal with 'spit bottles'. I didn't mind that they 'spit', my husband and I smoke. I just wish they'd have picked everything up each afternoon when they finished for the day. Since they've been here my husband has gone back to 'spitting' and is cutting back on smoking. So I'm still dealing with it to an extent. It may just be the woman in me. My daughter says I'm a neat freak, but I kinda felt like I was picking up after them a bit. I'm just telling you this information so that if you have a problem with anything I've just spoken of you can set your ground rules ahead of time. By the time I'd gotten a little frustrated with the trash and the bottles they were well into the project and Ray did such a good job, I just didn't bother saying anything. For what we had done and for the quality of work he did, it was worth that little issue I had. All I know is that the ten dollars I spent for an Angie's List membership was well worth every penny of it. I went with the one review I saw for Ray (Shedd) and had him come and give me a quote. My husband told me after he left that "that man knows his work". We'd gotten one other quote and my husband told me that we didn't need a third one. He said Ray was the way to go. I only wish I'd known about Angie's list before I had my landscaping done last year. I won't call any names right now because I haven't submitted a report, but I had to spend and additional 2,100.00 with a different landscaper to correct what my initial landscaper did wrong. It was a nightmare. I even took the original landscaper to court and won a settlement. It was just a matter of principle to me.
Description of Work: Ray painted every inch of the interior of our home-except for the mantle above the fireplace. All the cabinets were brushed and not sprayed. Everything was primed/sanded/caulked very well prior to painting. This included all cabinets in both baths, laundry room, pantry area as well as all the kitchen cabinets. Our home is a three bedroom/two bath with approx. 1600 sq. ft. living area. We did away with all the stained trim/doors/cabinets and went with paint. He removed the carpet/flooring and we had him install laminate flooring as well as vinyl in the bathrooms. New ceiling fans were installed in three rooms. New light fixtures were installed in 7-8 other spots. He installed new spot lights over the fireplace which included attic work. He also had to patch a pretty large spot by the fireplace with a piece of drywall due to water damage. A new heat/vent/light unit was installed in the master bath which included attic work. A new vent hood was installed. A new storm door was installed. New toilets were installed in both bathrooms. He re-caulked around the vanity/tub with new caulk. New hinges and handles were installed in laundry room and both baths as well as cabinets in office. He installed new curved curtain rods in both bathrooms. He installed a chimney cap. He installed all door hardware on new interior doors as well as new door hardware and deadbolts on exterior doors. A screen door was painted and installed in the garage. We are going to have him come back this fall and put a new roof on our 20 x 20 shop and pressure wash the house.

I was so pleased with Mr. Shedd and his team, the showed up on-time and ready to work from the first day forward, and they did an amazing job! You can tell they take such pride in their work, everything was done to perfection. They went above and beyond our expectations. The job took the exact amount of time they said it would. After our last contractor who would take 3 hour lunches or just not come back at all, Mr. Shed and his team were great. I had been gun shy about home improvement after that, but now we are planning to have them back again. I know this may be a silly point, but it meant a lot to me, they were also kind to my daughter and our dog (He wanted to leave with Mr. Shedd by day 1!) and never made us feel like we got in their way. I would recommend them to anyone!
Description of Work: We had our sun room, living room, bedroom and hallway painted.
