I obtained an estimate which i thought was within reason. I would have used his services but it took too long for him to get back with me.. I actually had to contact him to get the estimate.

Description of Work: On this occasion they installed hardwood floors; beautiful results with minimal disruption to the family. |On a prior occasion they built a screened porch (actually more of a sun room)and removed a very ugly unvented gas fireplace/mantel and replaced it with an incredibly beautiful vented unit (marble facing and apron with a wood mantel) . Jeremy made some excellent suggestions which we were happy to accept. He is very professional, makes a concerted effort to stay in budget, and does exceptional work.

The roof itself is fine but they caused damage to our Air conditioning unit as well as causing a lot of destruction to our aggregate driveway. If you can believe this they sent a nail into our air conditioning freon copper line. Instead of telling us and coming inside to fix it properly they cut a hole into the decking and did a patch up job on the line. Closed it up and then informed us. We called in the original qualified air conditioning people and $850 dollars later it was fixed properly. They had not even bothered to replace all of the lost freon and they did not "repair the line in a permeate acceptable manner." At the least they should have told us at the time of the damage and given us a choice. After much hassle and pressure from Lowes (we bought the roof through them) they did finally return the $850. We were paid in ,cash so I am not certain who paid Lowes or Barry Construction. While on this project they drove a over weight overloaded trailor onto our aggregate driveway, it was so overweight that the tires on one size looked flat and could not be inflated any further due to fear of blowing out the tire as a result they cracked the drive in several places and caved it in in an area 1 ft by about 2 1/2 feet. They repaired the large one acceptably but when he started on the cracks he used a light grey compound that did not matchat which point my husband told Lowes we would cover it and that he never wanted him back on the property. This all took weeks. Now you can add to this many cancellations of appointment after the time had come and gone. He. not dependable or in my opinion capable. This has been a very disappointing experience even if the roof seems to be ok. Lowes followe through all their commitments. They stand behind the product. Just make sure Barry construction has nothing to do with the instillation. They are a general contractor so they might be involved in any aspect of home improvement. Beware

Project went really well. Mr. Berry did the entire project from tear-out/demo to finish. The project included refinish kitchen cabinets, running a gas down to new oven, and Mr. Berry had the idea that since we would have a plumber running the gas line down the wall for oven anyway, we could go ahead and run a water line also and install a pot filler over the new oven. It was a great idea, and we love it. Also, upgraded lighting which included under the cabinets and overhead. Ms. Berry helped select lighting fixtures and is a pleasure to work with also. We also installed granite counter tops and tile on the walls. Ms. Berry installed the tile, and oversaw the granite installation. Is perfect. In summary, Berry construction is highly recommended by me.

Contacted Jeremy based on reviews in Angie's List. He quickly visited property, inspected, listened to my requests and offered suggestions, some of which were accepted. He prepared and presented a specific and detailed contract. Even though all contractors were busy following the hail storm, he or his subs began repairs as quickly as possible. On at least one occasion, I determined that the level of work performed by a sub was inferior. Jeremy agreed and he and his wife completed the work themselves. No work is perfect, but the quality produced by him and his subs was superb. Honesty is another one of his traits. When the need arises in the future, I will definitely use him and his wife.

Details as stated above. We'll keep you posted as the project comes to conclusion.
Description of Work: Adding a screened porch and removing existing gas fireplace, remodeled that portion of our family room and added a new gas fireplace and mantel. This is a job still in progress. At this point we are very happy with what has been fabricated. Not only has Jeremy (the 'J' in J. Berry Construction) supplied a high quality product, he has been responsive to questions, generous with suggestions, and made every effort to stay within budget. We are extremely happy with his work so far.

I contacted Jeremy Berry after reading positive reviews on Angie's List. When we made contact in November 2013, I was told, and understood, that there would be a wait of a few months before the work I needed could be done. Jeremy came to meet me and discuss what I wanted and needed done. He was very patient, and listened to me, and then offered suggestions. I felt very comfortable, and after some really bad experiences with contractors in the past, I did feel that I would be able to trust him to keep his word. I was pleased when I was told the work could begin ahead of schedule. Jeremy and Kimberly Berry presented me with a contract, which listed everything that was planned to be done, outlined, and complete with very close estimates of actual cost. The quality of work done by J. Berry Construction is phenomenal. Jeremy and Kimberly are of the highest integrity, and truly treat others as they would treat family members. They are kind and always have a pleasant attitude. As he worked on the project here, Jeremy even corrected several flaws done by the original builder of the house, which he did not have to do, and it make everything look even nicer than it would have without the corrections. I am attaching photos, but they do not do justice to the work done. Their work is just simply beautiful, and as close to perfect as you can get. I am proud to recommend J. Berry Construction to anyone.
Description of Work: Contractor and sub-contractors completely remodeled 2 bathrooms, replaced toilet in a separate bathroom, installed new double wall oven, modified and rebuilt an existing built-in bookcase, and replaced an exterior door knob and deadbolt. The approximate cost of service does not include items I purchased separate from the contractor, such as toilets, bathtub, and oven.

My husband and I were impressed from our first meeting with Mr Berry. He was on time returned an estimate in a timely fashion and was professional in every way. We had ideas but no concrete plans. Mr Berry was able to institute and/or improve on our ideas. Once the bid was accepted the work began on time and was finished within 3 weeks of the original end date. The delays were unavoidable and Mr Berry kept in touch with us at all times. The employees and contractors were very respectful and did not leave a mess behind at any time. The work was beyond our expectations and we could not be happier with the results. We will definitely use Mr Berry again. We had had our family bath done by bath fitters previous to the master bath remodel and have regretted it since having the work done by Mr Berry. That bath cost us around $6000 and we most definitely feel we got a better value and are much happier the work done by Mr Berry.
Description of Work: Remodeled our master bath, took in down to the studs and did a complete remodel. Fixed, refinished and painted the ceiling in the great room. Repaired wood siding on the sunroom.

The process was much easier than I expected, and Jeremy and his subs even cleaned up after themselves every day! There were a few small glitches that needed addressing, but he always tended to them, entirely to my satisfaction. I must say, after talking to multiple remodelers and not being happy with their ideas and commitments (or the lack thereof more often), Jeremy and his crew did a most excellent job. If you are in a hurry, forget about it! They were very busy doing other jobs during the same period, and often they did not get to me until after lunch. But quality work takes time, and I am more than satisfied with the overall quality of the job. I LOVE MY BATHROOM! As a note, the amount paid to Jeremy did not include the costs of materials, and in a couple of cases, installers I used independently. So if estimating an amount for a remodel, additional costs will be incurred.
Description of Work: Jeremy managed the entire bathroom remodel, as well as doing all the tile work himself (as well as his cute wife, Kimberly).

Jeremy took over the entire project for me. After dealing with so many incompetant contractors and plumbers - it was a relief. He oversaw every phase of the remodel and brought in his own people for plumbing etc. He and his wife picked up all materials, kept the area clean at all times and was very professional throughout. The bathrooms look great. I wish I had found him first.
Description of Work: I needed tile installation and some remodel in 2 bathrooms. The previous contractor did not use wall board that was water proof. Also did a very bad job of tile placement and the new tub was not level. I tried to piece the project together myself - hiring each individual as needed and running myself ragged picking up materials for them. I had to have Jeremy come in to demolish all the first guys had done and start over from scratch.

Mr. Berry was a little difficult to reach at first, but he always called or showed up when he said he would. It turns out I had just reached him at a time when he was very busy professionally and personally, but he still came and did the work and did a fantastic job. The wall looks great. I would not hesitate to call him again for a bigger job.

Wow. I really can't say enough good about their work. Jeremy is a caring professional who really does want the best for his clients. He was incredibly easy to work with, was very respondent to all of our requests, and came up with so many great ideas that we would have never thought about. The first thing that they did was to come and rebuild our privacy fence, so that the dogs could still use the back yard without bothering the workers, and closed off the effected room so that we were never bothered by the workers (other than noise, obviously), so that we felt safe having the room open to the world. Demolition took a few days, and then the rebuild began. As for the rest, it was done with great care at all times. Jeremy does use a lot of subcontractors, but he knows them and trusts them all. During our job, one of his subcontractors let him down, and he was quick to let him go and get someone else that would do a better job. And the work that Jeremy did himself, which included lots of assundry stuff (constantly), painting, and flooring, was all done to the highest quality. He blew us away by finding tile to exactly match the tile that was there, saving us thousands of dollars. He could only find 12 inch tile, however, so he put it in a diamond formation and made it look like a perfectly matched walkway between the family room and the back door. What a great job. The only knock that I could come up with (and I tried to think of anything) was that the job took considerably longer than expected. This was due to several factors, not least of those that it was around the holidays. Also, Jeremy decided (after he got into it) that he should rip out more than originally expected (the entire ceiling, for example), and the matching of the exterior brick was more difficult than anyone had anticipated (some of the contractors that we talked to didn't have a clue how to even start with the matching). Even with all of the changes and additions, though, Berry Construction still did it for exactly the original bidded price, which was lower than most of the estimates that we received. I could not have been happier with the work. Sometimes Jeremy took a couple more days to respond to emails than I would have liked, but he always had a good reason and was very responsive when he did. Also, the last time I saw him, his wife told me that she was now in charge of communication for that very reason, so it would probably be even better now. As a side note, I found a few minor problems a couple months after they were finished ("a door didn't latch right" kind of stuff), and Jeremy came out promptly and fixed it with no question. A real pro. And he (and his wife Kimberly) love to talk. Like a great doctor, he never gives you the feeling that he doesn't have time for you, which is great. If anything, he will explain things more than you may even need (or want), but it is always good information. He's also a really nice guy, to top it all.
Description of Work: We had a truck run through a room in our house, and Berry Construction took the room down to the studs (including tearing off all outside brick), and redid the room to our specifications. Everything, including framing, drywall, ceiling, plumbing, electrical (including 220 for a laundry room), heating/cooling vents, cabinets (from scratch), total bathroom, built-in entertainment center, bricking, cement walkway, windows, and fencing. In addition, they had to match the ceramic floor that was there in order to continue it into the laundry room.

They were extremely professional and brought several subcontractors to my home to bid each phase of the project. All subcontractors were knowledgeable and professional about their field. All contacts with this company and their subcontractors were very courteous and displayed much knowledge in their field. The only reason they were not selected was because one phase of the project they were only able to bid time and materials and I had no way of working that into my budget. Other sections of the bid were comparable to the company that I chose. I would certainly entertain using this company on another occasion if I had firm bids from them.

Overall, the job went absolutely splendidly. Jeremy started exactly on time and was very much on schedule. Everything was finished on time. The cool thing was, even though we had not exactly budgeted to replace the kitchen faucet, because the white faucet that had been there for so long looked terrible, Jeremy replaced it using a brushed nickel faucet without having to increase cost. Some items, such as the granite countertop, actually came in under cost and we were refunded the difference. Also, as the project was evolving, we decided we would like to extend the tile floor through a small hallway adjacent a pantry. This was quickly accommodated at minimal cost. The house was clean after the workers had finished each of the jobs. Particularly, very little sheet rock dust was noticeable after everything was cleaned up. Every time in the past but I have had some idea sheet rock work, a fine layer of dust persisted. The quality of the workmanship seems to be excellent. The tile floor in the kitchen is flat with no elevation of tile surfaces at the seams. Grout is absolutely uniform. The fit and finish of the new island as well as granite countertop is perfect. The best thing about working with Jeremy is that he has a good sense of how to best spend your money. We were getting carried away with some things that we might try to do, and he was quick to point out that we should save the money and do things a different way that would ultimately be cheaper, but just as cosmetically pleasing. Now I am not sure that I could tell that we needed to do any of those extra things that we were initially considering.
Description of Work: Our house had been on the market for approximately 1.5 years. Because every negative comment involved appearance of the kitchen, we contacted Jeremy to get an idea of what it would take to make things better. Jeremy came up with a plan to completely redo the flooring with new tile, antique the center island, and replace outdated white tile topping the island. This was replaced with dark granite. While working on the island, two additional cabinets were placed along the back to add some storage space within the island. Also, two outlets were relocated to provide working locations for appliances. In addition, we had two pendant lights placed as well as three can lights and a shorter light fixture by a window in the breakfast nook so that no one would bump their heads. Many heads had been bumped previously.

Jeremy discussed all of the remodel plans in detail before the work started, purchased all of the materials, provided accurate estimates and cleaned up after his work. He was very easy to work with -- he is honest, cordial, thorough, professional and a perfectionist. When talking through the remodelling plans, Jeremy provided good ideas, and his revisions were always an improvement over our original concept; his adjustments were both well thought out and courteously explained. He fit us into his busy schedule, and showed up to work with the appropriate personnel when he said he would. When the formica was delivered with a scratch, Jeremy sent it back; and though the return delayed the work, the end result was more important. We were so happy with Jeremy's work that what started out a one project grew into two, and we are now scheduling the third -- the bathroom remodel.
Description of Work: First Jeremy enclosed the double carport, added an attic step down entry ladder, blew insulation into the attic and insulated the walls. He also replaced shingles with hardy board, and in framing the carport walls, he squared and replumbed the carport area on this 50+ year old house. The carport enclosure had 2 french doors, a side door and a window installed. Additionally, two storage room doors and the front door were replaced with new metal doors. The next project was the kitchen remodel: replacing the old counter tops and bar with new formica tops, installing a new sink and fixtures, tiling around the kitchen cabinets (including backsplash and stove wall), and installing a new window frame over the sink.

Jeremy first started working in my home last year. We had him take out walls in our den, and dining room. When we realized that we had found an honest, dependable and knowledgeable person in Jeremy we didn't let him go until he and his crew gutted and updated our entire home. I cannot say enough good things about Jeremy and his crew. They are courteous and professional. Jeremy is a perfectionist and if he doesn't personally do the work he will inspect it and not consider it finished until he is satisfied. When I first interviewed Jeremy he told me that he would not leave a job until the customer was satisfied. He was true to his word.
