My wife and I have lived in 6 Midwestern states, and have had lots of projects done to our homes over the years, and this experience was by far the best. Chuck and his team were on it from day one. Chuck was on time and kept all of his appointments when we were looking at options for the exterior remodeling project. We had other contractors quote the job, but they didn't seem as interested in the project because it wasn't a new build, or they didn't want to take the time to do a remodel. The core of our remodeling project was to get the water away from the house and repair/replace exterior areas where water might be penetrating. Additionally, the home was originally constructed in 1978, so it was due for an update. This included removing old red brick around a bay window, add new siding, 23 new windows, 2 doors, shutters, gutters, and a porch remodel trimmed in cedar with cedar beams and posts. Chuck had real solutions to the questions we had, and he was responsive in providing a quote. Additionally, Chuck was very flexible on the timing and the scope as we had other contractors to work around. As things came up throughout the project, we found workable solutions and we never once felt like we were being taken advantage of. I've seen a lot of contractors that will 'change order' you to death. Chuck never did that to us once, despite numerous opportunities. The crew foreman Jeff was amazing. He was so meticulous with the detail and his carpentry skills are top notch. Everything he built was tight and secure and looked great. Jeff worked on our home as if it was his own. He shared ideas to make the house look better and add curb appeal with some of the exterior wall locations and trim work around our doors and bay windows. The job was a big one, as they basically replaced the exterior of the home, and they were at our house for about 3 weeks. They showed up every day when they said they would, and not once did they leave a mess. The work area was picked up and looked tidy every day. The crew was always very respectful to my wife and didn't do anything that interfered with her schedule in the morning getting the kids to school, etc. To say we are pleased with the results would be an understatement. The place looks great and we have not had any water issues since project completion and we had two heavy rains immediately after it was done.

His approach is more about educating the consumer (no high pressure sales), including providing us with plenty of product information and references to help us research. He was patient with our many questions, and took the time to make sure we were informed and happy every step of the way. Chuck and his employees were professional in their interactions, easy to communicate with in person or via email/text, and kept the work area tidy at the close of each work day. The project was done with great care and precision, on time, and with no surprises. A few items that were discovered needing attention were quickly and professionally dealt with, even after the final payment was made. Chuck explained to us that he has built his business upon his recommendation and prides himself on gaining new work through positive referrals versus advertising. When tackling any house project these days, the choice of products and contractors can make it very stressful. It really helps to have a partner you trust to help guide you through the marketing and hype to settle on solutions that work within your budget and meet your expectations in the end. Chuck Koehler and Gateway Exteriors exceeded our expectations on all fronts.

They were competitive, but they also were willing to work with me. There wasn?t much trouble with what I wanted to do. Their craftsmanship was excellent, and they were really nice.
