"On August 5, 2014, I posted a glowing review for Ben Hansen and Claymark Homes. I thought they had done a good job on our window project. In March this year I contracted them to repair damage done to the ceiling in my family room and to my half bath when I had the plumbing replaced in my house. The work was a disaster from the beginning. I removed everything from the room with the exception of an Oriental rug, a leather sofa and chair and a TV cabinet. I asked if those things needed to be removed and was assured they did not and that they would cover everything with plastic. I left the house to run an errand; and when I returned, I discovered wet plaster on my UNCOVERED furniture and rug and dust everywhere. While I knew there would be dust, they made no attempt to reduce the mess. Ben and his crew supervisor promised to be present for the project, but they were nowhere to be found for most of it. After the project was done, I began to see examples of shoddy workmanship. They chipped a corner off the crown molding, and there was a half-inch gap between the wall and the molding. They had HAMMERED the molding back up, denting it. Paint was slopped on the molding. They did not adequately sand the walls before repainting, and the surface was very noticeably uneven. After complaining, I was assured that it would all be taken care of. I was also told he wasn’t so sure that the damage to the molding wasn’t pre-existing (so I was basically accused of lying—I have photo evidence the damage was done by his crew). Ben came once to “fix” the crown molding (which was to slap on filler and stain) for the dents and to reposition the molding. Then I discovered there was a giant half-inch blob of filler at one end of the molding which looks awful (see attached). Ben was to come back to complete the work. Months later and more excuses than I can count, I gave up and did the work myself, knowing full well his work would not be satisfactory. He threatened to share my “comments” with his staff as if I care. I have never encountered such a home improvement disaster and highly suggest you find other options if you’re considering Claymark Homes for your project. This guy has a big chip on his shoulder and is his own worst enemy."

If you have a problem with your window, such as broken glass, minor leaks, or a problem with your window being stuck, repairing the broken part might be a cheaper option than replacing the entire window. However, if you have a deteriorating window frame or major leaks, buying a new window will be the better long-term solution.
Window replacement can become costly, especially if you’re replacing your whole home. There are a few steps you can take to help save money on the bottom cost while still giving your windows a facelift.
Replace multiple windows at once to bundle your purchase
Inquire about discounts, coupons, or special offers
Consider window repair as soon as you see damage to help prevent the need for replacement
Maintain your windows often by inspecting your windows for drafts, leaks, and cracks
There are certain window repairs that are cost-effective to DIY and relatively simple for homeowners to tackle themselves. Tasks like replacing a screen, replacing a lock, or sealing a window are typically under $30 and take minimal time to do yourself. However, if you need to replace your window or repair a broken double pane, it’s best to call in a professional window replacement installer to lend a hand. Replacing the majority or all of the windows in your home is a time consuming job and best left to a professional.
Window replacement costs between $180 and $410 per window, or an average of $280 per window. However, your specific replacement job could cost as little as $100 or as much as $750. Factors such as frame material, the number of windows you need, and the type of glass you order all impact the overall cost. For example, simple double-glazed windows will cost $3 to $6 per square foot, but the stronger tempered glass ranges from $12 to $14 per square foot.
The time it takes to replace a window is a total of four to 15 weeks. This time includes your initial consultation, appointments for measuring, as well as ordering and manufacturing your windows. For a smaller job, you can expect the total timeline to be on the shorter end, but for a whole house window replacement, it might take longer (or be split into multiple install appointments). Once your windows are created and ready to be installed, your window installer will take 30 to 60 minutes per window to install.
