Jim's Heating & Cooling

It was during the heat wave when our old system died, and it was just awful. He was overwhelmed with service requests and couldn't get to us, and then he had to order a certain part so he actually brought a room air conditioner out and installed it for the living room so that we had some cool air. He didn't charge us for the use of that air conditioner. He came out that same day and put that air conditioner in. We were absolutely very impressed by this guy. We had gotten estimates from other companies as well and his was the most cost effective for us. He completed all the paperwork for us to get the Ameren rebate also. There were some Angie's List companies that didn't return my phone call. There were a couple who did return the phone call and said they were too busy, that it would be a month to 6 weeks before they could get to us, but there were even a couple who didn't bother to call me back. I was really perturbed with that. The quality is great. The system is a wonderful system. It's a heat pump air conditioner and heating system and it has a built in humidifier with it. He recommended that. He came out and looked at the house and measured, and gave us what our options were with it, and explained the advantages and disadvantages of each particular system. Their punctuality was very good. Because of how busy the company was with service calls, he knew it will be a couple of weeks and so he brought a loaner air conditioner with no charge to us. In reading his reviews on Angie's List, I read that he has done that for other people and so that was one of the reasons why I picked him. I picked the companies that had A-ratings, and I picked him, and I was very impressed because other people have reported the same thing, that he gave them loaner air conditioners while they had to wait because the other systems were completely down. I thought he knew them personally or maybe they were employees' friends but he offered that right away, that he could bring out an air conditioner for us.

I don't know the cost of the service, I have a annual package. The pricing is very good. One person came out for the service. It took 2 hours for the work to be completed. They left the area impeccable. They cleaned and maintained the unit.

From the initial phone call to schedule, until completed, excellent service. I was treated with respect both via phone and in person. Very courteous staff. Service tech, Tim, arrived promptly. He identified himself. He was very thorough and professional. He took the time to answer my questions. I highly recommend this company and will definitely use them again.

Very early Sunday morning, my 20-year old air conditioner stopped working. I called Jim's and left a message for their emergency service about 8AM, and they called back within 30 minutes. I told the tech what I knew about the problem, and he came out within a couple of hours (he said there was one call ahead of me). After examining the problem, he had bad news. The outdoor unit was shot. That wasn't a huge surprise as it was 20 years old, and knew from a service call last year that it was in rough shape. Back then, I had asked Jim's for a quote so I would know what to expect when it broke. I also got a couple of competitive quotes... and all were roughly the same though Jim's had a couple of extra services they were going to do as part of it. Fast forward nearly a year, and now it was broken for good. The tech told me they could replace the outdoor unit itself, or also the furnace/blower on the inside (it was also 20 years old), and would have a sales person call me in the morning with options. Being a Sunday, there was nothing else the tech could do (he was sympathetic though). Monday morning, and the house has warmed up considerably. The sales person at Jim's called and pulled up my old quote. He said the unit they quoted last year was no longer available, but that the replacement unit had a higher efficiency rating. We're right in the middle of a heat wave, and I'm desperate. He said the new unit had a higher cost ("here we go" I thought), but after he ran through everything the cost difference was negligible (maybe $50... it was really insignificant on a $6000 quote to replace everything and do some other work). At any rate, I was very happy they didn't take advantage of the situation, and he promised to do everything he could to get the unit replaced as soon as possible. Not two hours later, a guy was at my door to remove the old unit. He was super nice, communicative and professional. He ripped out the old unit, and then told me he brought a window air conditioner along so we could at least keep a room cool. He installed in in the master bedroom which kept it a cool 71 degrees through the rest of the day and the night. It was a SUPER thoughtful gesture and I can't even begin to say how much we appreciated that. By some miracle, they managed to get all of the parts and have everything installed on Tuesday. We replaced everything (furnace included) with a 14 SEER system. Overall, I ended up working with four people at Jim's between sales, service techs and installers, and all of them were wonderful. I would not hesitate to refer them to anyone.

Ordered incorrect part for unit. Said they would put a rush on correct part but it took longer than the original order. Two weeks without air conditioning in St Louus in the summertime was brutal

They were fantastic. Fixed our problem timely and simply, explained things thoroughly and charged exactly what they said he would despite needing to revise the plan a bit.

Diagnosed the problem with my heat pump, explained how the heat pump heats, cools and what my options were. The process went fine no problems, issues, or concerns.

Outstanding experience from the first call. I located Jim's Heating & Cooling on Angie's List. They initially came out to diagnose that my compressor was bad (kept popping the circuit breaker). After quoting the cost of replacing the compressor, I asked for a quote to replace the A/C, furnace and Heat Pump. The unit was the original unit to the house and a little over 20 years old. The quote was not as bad as I thought it might be and I elected to go with the full replacement. The installation was done in one day by two techs. They hauled away the old components, ran a larger coolant line (I got a slightly larger tonnage unit based on the square footage) and got everything installed. A couple days later, I noticed that there was moisture on the corner of my filter. I called Jim's who had someone there in 2 hours and permanently corrected the issue at no cost at all. After a few months now, my electric bill has been cut in half each month. Granted, it has been a little cooler this summer/fall over last, but I also have a much higher efficiency unit. Overall, I have been extremely pleased with Jim's Heating & Cooling. Everyone I had contact with was very professional and courteous, the workmanship is top shelf and the price was more than fair. I would highly recommend Jim's Heating and Cooling!

Worked their fannies off and did a stupendous job! Showed up on time, no dilly-dallying, cleaned up after themselves and we have AC like nobody's business. The unit outside was installed outside a basement window and they moved it to a solid wall. It was so loud you could not hear over the sound. There was no overflow pipe, which they installed so there is no water standing in basement.

I paid $145 for twice yearly clean-n-check program and so far it has been worth it. Not only do they give the system a good going over, but you get priority on repairs and a discount on parts. My a/c had a problem this summer and they were right on it. Not only that, but the servicemen were both excellent, skilled, professionals.

I woke up in the morning and the ac was not blowing cool air. I called them and they sent someone in a half hour. He was very polite, efficient, and easy to work with. They are very highly regarded in the area and I will us them again. The price was also reasonable. I was satisfied with the service.

I can't say enough about this team. Dan (the owner) is highly professional and listened attentively to our questions and made sure to address our concerns (such as placement of drilled wells, connection to the house, no damage to the cement walkway, utilizing the old duct work, etc.). This team worked under the wire to be sure to get heat to our house and disconnect the propane line. The well was drilled a couple of weeks later (trying to get this done before intense frost or snow set in). Once completed they broom swept the basement and walked us through the evaluation and maintenance of the system. Their customer service is top notch and they are very well versed on their products. A++ in our opinion!
