 + -1 moreJack cleaned our furnace and made sure everything was functioning properly prior to the sale of our home. He is an honest, no frills guy. I am going to have him install a whole house humidifier in our new home as well. I am glad we found someone for all of our future HVAC needs.

 + -1 moresWe contacted them about trouble with our air conditioning unit. The service man was nice, informative, and did a thorough job; he cleaned up after himself when finished and didn't leave footprints all through the house even though it was a bit muddy outside . He actually went above and beyond what we expected. The only problem we had was less than optimal communication about the time the service person would arrive. Still, we had told them it wasn't an emergency so it wasn't a big deal. My husband was quite satisfied with the information he was given about a couple of questions we had concerning the unit's functioning as well. Dames Heating & Cooling exceeded our expectations and we would recommend them to others without hesitation.
Description of Work: Service person inspected our a/c unit, replaced capacitor, cleaned filter, made sure the unit worked before he left.

 + -1 moreThe first technician (one of the owner's sons) was inexperienced, and frequently called the owners for guidance while doing the installation. Instead of realizing he was not equipped to handle the job, they continued to send him out again to try to finish the installation. Finally on the third trip to finish the installation both owners (John and Jack) responded in order to finish the installation. The installation process was handled very unprofessionally, and the quality of workmanship was extremely poor, which is why our flooring and insulation are now damaged and must be replaced, as well as the hardwood flooring in our kitchen. We had another heating and air conditioning company take a look at the air conditioner and the subsequent damage. This service technician told us the unit was not installed properly and that is why we experienced these problems and damage. Overall, I would have to say this experience has been a very expensive nightmare.
Description of Work: We called Dames for bid on replacing the central air conditioner in our weekend mobile home located in Callaway Co. The bid was $900 for a refurbished unit. The technician (Jason Dames) that came to do the installation discovered the existing A coil was damaged and couldn't be used. A couple of days later he returned with a used A coil, for which we were charged $400.00. He was inexperienced and ran into difficulty, so the installation was not completed on the second day either. John and Jack Dames (owners of the family business) came a couple of days later to complete the installation. When finished, they presented me with a bill of $1,982.00, which was much higher than their initial bid, even with the additional costs of the A coil being replaced. The air conditioner is only operated on weekends during the summer months. Not long after the completed installation, I began to notice water in the air ductwork. Then upon inspection of the underside of the flooring found that the water had been leaking out of the drain pan situated under the A coil and had rotted the insulation and flooring. The air conditioner was running at the time of my inspection and water was dripping from a large hole in the sub floor in several places, wet insulation was hanging from the flooring with some insulation lying on the ground underneath the hole. I also felt cold air blowing out of this hole in the floor. Obviously, when we begin to use the furnace when the weather becomes cold, we'll be losing heated air through this hole also. The hole measures about 2 feet by 3 feet.
