Description of Work: Provider was requested to evaluate and if possible fix a broken diverter valve in my master bathroom. A previous provider sent by my Homeowners Warranty company stated that the diverter valve was not repairable without breaking tile for access. The gentleman sent by OJ Laughlin was able to easily dissassemble the diverter valve and identify the problem. However, he was unable to identify the repair part needed as the manufacturer could not be identified. He indicated to me that if I could identify and procure the correct part, it could be easily installed.

Description of Work: I woke up to find water leaking from my kitchen into my washroom in the basement. The water was leaking into my light fixtures. I called them early morning and they were out there a couple hours later. They diagnosed my problem and had it fixed in two hours. I used them before and would definitely use them again.

OJ Laughlin worked us in, since my husband was physically having to empty the sump pit by the buckets until they got to our home. We have used OJ Laughlin for years, and there are no better than this company and their people.

Description of Work: Shower head and or handle was not working. The gentleman from O.J. Laughlin arrived on time, located the problem quickly and fixed it in a timely manner. I loved the fact that he was very honest with his assessment and did not try to sell me something I really did not need. I would absolutely call them in the future if I needed any plumbing done.

Description of Work: I called and requested that he look at and evaluate my 15 y/o sump pump. I had been getting an increasing amount of water in my basement and reported to him that my neighbor and I both had observed that we seldom heard the pump go on after a rain and that in the past it had run almost continuously as I live in a low lying area. The man I spoke to requested that I open up the lid over the sump pump and see if it was full of water. I did that and the chamber was not full. He then told me it was impossible for the pump to be defective. I requested that he come anyway and he said he would have to charge me. I told him that was ok because I strongly felt the pump was defective. He continued to argue with me that it couldn't be defective. He chose not to come to look at the pump. About a week later, I found someone else with knowledge of sump pumps who came out to my house, took the sump pump out of the basement and put it into a bucket of water. The sump pump worked ONLY ONE OF THREE TIMES we tried, it so it WAS defective. I now have a new sump pump and NO WATER in my basement. I am not sure of the date of call - it was most likely between July and Sept. 2011 I am no longer a member of Angie's list. Please remove me from further correspondence. Karen Flavin

Description of Work: I needed the water turned off and fixtures removed for replacing the counter tops in my bathrooms. They came out quickly and did the whole service quickly.

Description of Work: When I called I told them that I have two bath fixture valves to be changed. He said, "You must mean cartridges." I told him that my handyman specifically told me "valves", but that I'm not the plumber. His next appointment was several days out. When the plumber was still not here after 30 minutes I called the office and was told that I was "next". He was 2 hours late. When the plumber finally showed up he looked at the job and said that it would be 3.5 hours per valve. However, they always "screw" him out of his overtime. So, he wasn't staying. He booked me for next week and left.

Description of Work: I have a rehabbed 140 year old house which results in unusual plumbing situations. I hired OJ Laughlin to fix a leaky faucet in my kitchen which was completed in about 20 minutes. The serviceman pointed out that although it wasn't necessary now that my faucet will likely need to be replaced in a few years. The repairman then tried to fix a frozen faucet in a bathroom before deciding it needed to be replaced. He replaced the faucet the following week for no additional charge (I had to find a suitable replacement faucet first).

Description of Work: We hired OJ Laughlin Plumbing to help us with a variety of projects. The biggest one of which was that our ice maker was broken and our water supply from the refrigerator was abnormal, so we figured there was a problem with the water supply to the refrigerator. He figured out what the problem was and how to fix it. He also did minor things here and there, such as removed little things that we couldn't get loose with the plumbing. He didn't repair it the first time we hired them because we refused to allow holes to be cut in our ceiling. We didn't know where the access would be to this piece of plumbing because our basement had been finished after they put in the line to the water supply. We then hired him again to open up the ceiling, and he found the solution easily.

Description of Work: I needed some pipe work altered as part of a kitchen remodeling. I also had a leaky toilet tank and faucet.

Description of Work: I called for 2 problems. The first was a leaking kitchen faucet. The plumber took it apart and discovered it was worn out on the inside and would need replacing. He was, however, able to do a temporary repair that stopped the lead until the new faucet (on order) can be installed, and the temporary repair is doing well. The second was to connect a spare refrigerator in the old laundry room to the water lines so that the water dispenser and ice maker could be used. The old laundry room still had the washer and dryer hook-ups in it. However, he discovered that the existing cold water line and been cut and capped off (we were unaware of this). He drilled a small hole in the floor, fed flexible copper piping down through it, and connected it to the prior, existing piping. Total time for all of this, a little over an hour, and all of this was unexpected work that he did without any complaints. The refrigerator works great, by the way. There was a small water leak that he cleaned up and repaired, no questions asked, no damage done. I will be using them again to install the new kitchen faucet once it arrives.
