Plumber arrived, showed him facet outside, took him to basement where he discovered I had PEK (sp) piping (plastic tubing as opposed to copper). He explained that he didn't like PEK, and I really needed a copper base at my facet, he didn't have any PEK to copper fittings and would have to get one from the office. Not really sure what happened next. He left and never came back. Was he supposed to come back? Was the office supposed to call me to reschedule? Was it my responsibility to call and reschedule because he lacked the part and I didn't know when he was going to get it? I was expecting to him drill two small holes and screw the facet in, not redesign an existing facet on a 4-year old house. Needless to say, I never heard from them again so I will contract the work out to someone else. As a positive note, they did not charge me for the service call.

I came to know about OJ Laughlin Plumbing Co Inc. through Angie’s list. I have not gone forward with the project yet. I had a very positive impression about the guy who came out. He followed up to his commitment as far as getting a quote out to me. He answered my questions. The guy who came out was the owner of the company. He is very professional. I would definitely want to work with him. I would use their service in the future too.

I returned from several weeks out of town and when I opened my door, the smell of sewage was overwhelming. The sewer was backed up in my basement and smelly water had flooded everything. I called O'Laughlin and they sent someone out to check it out and fix the backup within two hours. The trap in my back yard was back-flushed from the street and a bunch of stuff was caught in the elbow of the pipe. He had it fixed within 30 minutes and the standing water in my basement drained.

I have a condo that I rent out. In between tenants, there was a water leak from the upstairs toilet that caused water damage to the ceiling below. We thought that someone had fixed it for us, but then once the tenant moved in, it started leaking again. She sent me video footage of it leaking, and my husband went up there and saw it leaking himself. The plumber set up time with the tenant to come out for a leaking toilet. When he came out, I didn't hear anything from them. 6 days later, I still hadn't heard anything, so I called to ask what happened. I figured that they didn't come b/c they never called me, the property owner regarding what they saw. The company told me that there was no leak, perhaps the tenant left the shower curtain open, which we know wasn't the case because my husband saw it leak. If they had called me and told me they couldn't find a leak, I would have had them put in a new toilet. My husband could have brought it right to them. Even though he did not fix anything on the toilet that we called them on, the owner told me I would still owe the $150 service fee. Ok, I can sort of understand this, but I wish they had at least called me. When I recieved the bill, I see that they charged me $29.45 on parts to fix the "pop-up assembly" in the sink. I did not ask them to look at the sink. I did not authorize this repair, and the company didn't even tell me about the extra charge when I asked how much my bill would be (which I didn't recieve until 15 days after the day of service). I have used this company in the past and been happy with them. I guess they just aren't used to working with rental properties. I don't think it is right to get permission from a tenant (who doesn't pay the bill) to do a repair. Basically, I have to pay $169.45 to have them come out, not fix anything (except what I didn't authorize), and then not communicate any of it to me.

The repair person sent was very professional and courteous. He explained the problems he found and replaced a bad shut off valve, inner mechanism that needed replacing, and cleared away some calcium deposits. The repairs made were less expensive that replacing the entire toiled and we appreciate him helping us to save money. This is the second time we've used OJ Laughlin and will continue to use their service. Great service and fair pricing.

They did an amazing job. I would recommend them to anyone. I couldn't have asked for anything better. They were very professional and do great work.

A water heater is something you would like to have replaced quickly. I spoke on the phone with somebody I believe was the owner. He quoted the price and scheduled somebody to come out the next morning. The installer showed up about ten minutes early and quickly assessed what was needed. We discussed a couple options, then he called in to have a different water heater than the one I had originally chosen, based upon our discussion. The company very quickly removed the old heater. (I didn't even see it leave.) The new water heater was quickly installed with literally no mess or damage. I received the bill a few days later in the mail, with the invoice lower than what the initial estimate had been. I paid online with a credit card, which was very straightforward. I would definitely recommend this company!

A lot of people would have tried to sell me a brand new water heater, but it was good that I called OJ Laughlin Plumbing Co Inc. and used their service to fix it. They care about the customers. I would use their service in the future too.

When my water heater started its slow leak, I made a trip to my local Home Depot store. HD carries the GE brand which is made by Rheem. The appeal of the GE product is the 12 year warranty (1 year parts and labor). But, after extensively researching gas water heaters on consumer, plumbing and contractor websites, I determined that Bradford-White was my target brand. I contacted several plumbing contractors to get estimates on cost and time-frame, but not every plumbing contractor carries Bradford-White. I contacted O.J. Laughlin based on the positive reviews here and was very pleased with their professionalism and courtesy. Although O. J. Laughlin didn't carry the top-level model in stock with the highest warranty, the model was sufficient for my needs. O. J. Laughlin was able to schedule my service quickly (within a few days). The plumber who arrived at my home was very experienced (30 years) and very professional. He drained and disassembled my old water heater fairly quickly. Another O.J. Laughlin employee delivered the water heater and the two men carried out the old water heater and brought in the new one. They even took the time to place a long canvas runner/tarp on the floor to protect my carpet. All in all the process took just a couple of hours. Before he left, the plumber even took the time to show me how to relight the pilot. I would definitely use this company again for my plumbing needs.

We called to request drain cleaning services by the plumber we'd used from this company before and learned that he doesn't perform this type of service. Actually, neither does OJ Laughlin; they apparently use subs for drain cleaning. We might have preferred they disclose this up front. Instead, we learned of it when the sub showed up at the front door! If we had known, we might have called a specialty company directly, since OJ Laughlin has a flat $140 charge for the first hour and their sub was obliged to charge the same. However, we had been impressed with the company's quality on a previous call,so my husband told him to proceed. According to my husband, the fellow worked doggedly for over two hours to unclog our drain. He was unsuccessful at first with a standard snake and finally had to resort to a larger apparatus. Frankly, he was concerned about using it, due to the potential for damage to our ancient lines (the house was built in 1918). After thoroughly briefing my husband on his concerns and receiving the go-ahead, he finally was able to get the drain open. It's been working beautifully ever since. Not sure how great I feel about spending $265 to unclog a drain, but we do love having it unclogged.

Quick response to an emergency situation

I had to cancel my first appointment because of some personal problems. They were very understanding and ask me to call when I wanted to reschedule. They scheduled me quickly when I called again. He was very prompt. He seemed very knowledgeable, explained to me exactly what he had to do, including what the smells and sounds would be, went right to work and finished quickly. Actually, the first thing he said when he came in my house was that he smelled gas. He checked my furnace, a wall heater, hot water heater, and my gas meter. He could not detect anything but encouraged me to contact my heating contractor. At that point he began work on my plumbing problem. I appreciated his concern.

Brian did an excellent job; he was quick, thorough and was very clean. He then spent some extra time to talk through some other projects that I want to work on possibly this year. He gave very good information on each topic and did not rush through the explanation. I will definitely use OJ Laughlin again.

I had attempted to replace the cartridge myself, but these particular ones were tricky and I was concerned that I would break something with water secured to the entire house. The O.J. plumber came out and was exceptionally courteous and knowledgeable. I was especially impressed that he used shoe covers when walking inside my home. The replacement went well.

I can?t say enough good things about them. I have used them four or five times and I will probably use them again. I would recommend them to others who have a plumbing problem. They are responsive and professional. They are on time. They do a wonderful clean up. You won?t even know that they were here once they are gone.

The plumber showed up on time, was very professional, and did a great job installing the replacement faucets and shutoff valves. They also left a bill that didn't need to be payed on the spot, which I really appreciate. It gives me time to inspect everything while they're not present to make sure I'm happy with the job.

There was a little hiccup in the scheduling of my service; I was scheduled for the wrong day. O.J. recovered from this very well and very quickly and immediately sent someone over. Once a technician arrived, the service was great and problem was solved in under 30 minutes.

I called OJ Laughlin based on Angies List reviews and was quoted a price for parts and labor for a new water heater over the phone. The representative was knowledgeable about the products and answered my questions about what type to buy and the features in the unit he recommended. I had done some prior research, (which I recommend) so I was already familiar with the products he was suggesting. I was pleased the company installed Bradford-White water heaters as they were one of my preferred manufacturers. The company did not insist I buy a model I could not afford or features I didn't need, and in my opinion, did not overcharge me for the unit they provided. The time I called was just after Christmas holiday, and a snowstorm, but they were available to install two days later. The installing plumber was prompt to the promised minute, and was able to tell me quickly if I could move the water heater where I wanted (a few feet away from the existing plumbing connections). He was an experienced plumber who worked efficiently and professionally. It's a wet day and the first thing he did was completely cover his travel path with clean tarps to protect my floors. He had a pleasant, workmanlike demeanor throughout the 4 hours he was in my home, and was forthcoming about all that he was doing or intended to do. I knew that my relocation would be additional cost, and he worked quickly and told me what parts would be needed. I appreciated how he organized the new piping arrangement, installed everything without hitches or surprises, and cleaned up his work area. He performed only the work I asked, and did not "discover" new problems or attempt to alter the price during the work. All in all, it was an easy, pleasant experience and the new water heater works perfectly and solved a long-standing problem I had with floor clearance around the unit. I would gladly use this plumber for other home repairs or improvements.

I had two different plumbers for different services. Both showed up exactly at the time promised, were personable, outgoing and looked for the best solutions (one of which was cheaper than what I asked for!). The work was excellent, they finished on time and cleaned up after themselves. Price charged was exactly as quoted and similar to another quote. I will definitely use them again.

I was unaware of the problem with the stop-box. On the initial visit, the plumber determined that he couldn't shut the water off to the house because the stop-box was inaccessible. As this was not an emergency repair, he rescheduled for a later time when a laborer would be available to dig down to the main water line in the yard. The laborer arrived promptly (actually a half hour early) and began to work immediately. The plumber arrived just before the water line was exposed. He spread canvas runners over all my carpets so as not to leave tracks. The work was completed quickly and he did a high quality job. He cleaned up after himself and was very professional and courteous. After verifiying that I was completely satisfied and had no further questions, he thanked me for my business and said an invoice would come in the mail.

I have always been very satisfied with their company.
