Bad experience. The Multilink salesperson sold me on the idea that to get the best Directv experience (ability to record on one channel while watching TV on a different channel) I would need to have a total of 2 coaxial connections installed verses the standard total of one. I told the salesperson that in my previous experience with Directv (using HD DVR) that this was never required, but he was adamant that this should be done. So I spent the money to do it. It turns out the salesperson was incorrect, because he was not familiar with Directv equipment being a authorized dealer of Dish Network equipment. I had to be persistent to ensure that I would get a refund for this expense & I did. Multilink installers also made mistakes with prewiring the phone, especially how the phone lines terminated to the hub downstairs in the basement. After 5 days from the final Multilink install, I realize we didn't have a dial tone when we plugged our network device into the phone/data port located in our office. I called Centurylink about this and they told me that they could send a technician, but if it's determined that the issue is inside & not outside then I would be charged for the visit. I therefore, first contacted Multilink before scheduling the service visit from Centurylink. It turns out that Multilink commited an error with the phone and data prewire. It turns out that Multilink was unfamiliar with the newer standards that Centurylink was using for new construction in my development (Centurylink was installing fiber optic lines instead of copper). Because Multilink was ignorant with this newer standard, they didn't provide a dedicated line for internet & a dedicated line for DSL. They were under the impression that you could split the single line they installed. Not true if fiber optics has been run. The Centurylink installer argue with Multilink for half the day trying to convince Multilink that a dedicated line is required for DSL and a dedicated line is required for phone. Centurylink at no additional cost to me was kind enough to install the additional line despite Multilink's incompetence. Multilink also made a mistake in how they terminated the inside phone line in the basement, which was also causing problems with getting a dial tone. After setting up and connecting my AV reciever to our 5.1 speaker system, we couldn't here any sound coming from the surround channels and one of the left front speakers wasn't working. Called Multilink, & it turns out that again, there was an issue with the prewiring of the speakers. Installer corrected the problem & I haven't had any issue since that time. The gold banana plug connectors that Multilink uses are only about $20 a pack (pack of 10 connectors) on the internet, but don't buy them from Multilink because they'll tell you that they're 5 times that amount. There was nothing positive about this experience with Multilink.
Description of Work: Multilink performed all low voltage wiring for a new construction home. They pre-wired for phone, internet/networking (CAT5) & installed a 5.1 surround sound set-up in our family room which was included in the price of the home. Additional work totalling $894.17 was for additional work after we moved into home. This work included adding RJ45 connection in office, adding coax & RJ45 connection in family room, buying & installing an additional wall speaker in family room, removing center channel speaker from family room setup and rerouting HDMI wiring from fireplace to adjacent wall in family room.
