Sweep of chimney: Excellent job, set up time quickly after call. Neat and professional. New chimney cap: Job was delayed due to weather and need for 2 people due to need for very long ladder. I did have to call several times to get them to reschedule. In the end it looks great and they returned quickly when I noticed edge of metal flashing just below cap that had come loose.

It went very well. They were very nice and extremely professional. They did a great job of keeping everything clean. I would definitely use them again.

They arrived early (and called us to let us know), they had sent us a confirmation e-mail (complete with the service person's photo). They did a thorough job. All along the way, they answered all of my questions and gave us helpful tips. I would definitely use them again.

I was really happy with the reviews on Angie's List and the professionalism of the people who gave me an estimate and did the work. I am seriously thinking of contracting for installing a flue system in my chimney.

I called English Sweep because of the great reviews on Angie's List. We bought our home a little over a year ago, and I do not think the chimney had been cleaned in at LEAST 20 years. I was able to get an appointment within a few days. They sent an email confirmation with some helpful hints and also a picture of the technician, which was very nice. Shortly after we bought this house, we smelled gas coming from the fireplace. Called the gas company, and they came out and said the unit was beyond repair. We had them shut the gas off to it so it was safe. We've been fixing up other areas of the home and now we are starting on the fireplace. I knew we needed to start with an inspection and cleaning before we replaced the log set. Matt called about 1 1/2 hours before the appointment time, said his previous job had finished early and he could come to my house then if that was okay. Perfectly fine with me! Matt arrived and set up a floor mat and drop cloths and then brought his equipment in. The fireplace was filthy, and I do mean FILTHY - the entire inside was just totally black, you could not even see the bricks under all the soot. Matt was able to do a remarkable job cleaning it. I suspect the previous owners had cooked food or burned weird things in the gas logs. There was no mess on the floor, and the mega-vaccuum was fantastic - not even the slightest dust escaped that thing. There was a very slight film of soot on the furniture in that room, which I attribute to the fireplace just being exceptionally dirty. Matt kept going over & over the inside of the fireplace to get it clean. All the other reviews said there had been no mess at all....I think if it had been cleaned in the past 20 years then the would have been zero mess, lol. During the video inspection, there were some cracks and holes in the tile lining of the chimney, which is a fire hazard. I was able to see them clearly on the video. Matt was able to give two options for repairing it and gave me a quote for both. No sales pressure at all, which was great. Matt did not go onto the roof to inspect the outside of the chimney, but when I made the appointment I had told them that we had just replaced the roof 3 months ago and that included the flashing around the chimney. This is our first home with a fireplace so I had many questions. Matt was very professionnal, and patiently and professionally answered my numerous questions. We are pretty much starting from scratch for the fireplace, and as of right now it's not useable. Matt gave me several suggestions on options for either replacing the gas logs, installing a blow unit or going to a wood-buring, etc. He also gave us a list of websites to look at to research our choices. While English Sweep installs all of these products, there was zero sales pressure, which I appreciate because I want to take my time with the choices. I had been putting off getting the chimney cleaned because it just seemed like it was going to be a big hassle. But English Sweep made things easy, from start to finish! I would definately use them again. When we are ready to repair the chimney liner we will call them.

The technicain that came to my house was prompt and very polite. He cleaned up all his mess and was done in about 45 minutes. I was amazed at this level of service and would recommend this compay in a snap of a finger.

He called in advance. assist me in moving light furniture. Explained what he will be doing step by step. Laid down drop cloth, brought in his equipment, set everthing up and began. Show us how much accumulation we had, explaining how that was too much to allow between cleanings. cleaned up and explained his findings. We settled the account and he explained when was the best time to have this service done to save more money.

Overall a very positive experience. I reached out with a phone call and got immediate assistance with scheduling. That was followed with a confirmation e-mail that included a picture of the tech they were sending which was a nice touch. The appointment was for 10am and the doorbell rang at 9:58 so prompt to say the least. Tech explained what he would be doing ahead of time. Spread out a drop cloth to protect the floor as he worked and got right to work. Feedback was the fireplace was in great shape but did need a cleaning. All services were provided as promised. When it comes time to clean the fireplace again this the company we will be calling.

The quoting process went very smoothly. Once we signed the contract, there was about a 6 week delay before the work started due to English Sweep's backlog. The work was completed in two partial days, with one day for tear down and another to rebuild the chimney. The workers were friendly and courteous. They did a good job protecting the surrounding roof during their work. They cleaned up completely after they were complete, including both the roof and yard area. They made sure the new bricks matched our existing brick work as much as possible. We were very happy with work English Sweep completed.

They did a fine job. He told me to use a certain spray on firewood next season to help clean the fireplace cleaner.

Very professional walk-through, answered all questions and emailed quote back in timely fashion. Called warehouse on-site to price new damper handle which was missing on 2nd, pre-fab chimney. Appreciated email confirmation of completed order (and email reminder of pending appointment). Took ~ 2 weeks for part to arrive. Work completed in 2 days- first tuck-pointing and damper installation, then follow-up visit for installation of front counter-flashing. Only issue was that four days after work completed, we had a heavy rain and our roof started to leak (previously not an issue) near one of the two chimneys where work was done. We called English Sweep on Saturday, they called back Monday and someone came out Wednesday to evaluate. Still raining then, so came out the following day once stopped and checked counter flashing (appeared fine), so re-applied caulk sealant to any potential leak areas- with attention to the pre-fab chimney base on roof. Thought that scaffolding may have inadvertently struck pre-fab stack during damper work on brick chimney. Staff was easy to get a hold of and receptive to our concerns regarding roof leaking. After caulk-sealant application, all issues resolved. Rated as B due to post-work issues with roof leaking. However, given professionalism, receptiveness to concerns, clear communication and body of work- we plan to continue to use in future for our chimney issues. Of note, we shopped around with several chimney contractors and English Sweep was the most professional, with quality reviews and competitive prices.

I have used these guys for years. They are great at the sweeping service. Do get a second bid if they tell you there is work needed on your chimney or roof.

We bought a 50 year old house 6 months ago and we've never had a house with a fireplace. Our house inspector recommended we get everything inspected before lighting the first fire. Based on the positive ratings here on Angie's List I called English Sweep for a cleaning and inspection. Russ was on time and very professional. He explained exactly what he was going to do throughout the process. Before bringing in any equipment he put down drop cloths. The fireplace was thoroughly cleaned and then he sent a camera up the flue to show me the issues there. He then went on the roof, took photos and showed me the problems on the chimney. Afterwards he explained what our options were for repairs and prioritized them if we weren't going to do everything right away. With the several phone calls I've had with them, their fair pricing and with our experience with Russ, we decided to hire them to do all the work. Over the next few weeks we're going to have them resurface the flue, replace some bricks on the chimney, apply a crown seal and some tuckpoint work in the firebox.

They are great. I will grade them A across the board. I have used them before, and I will continue to use them.

Brick work was done well. Since the original brick is 31 yrs old, an exact color match was not possible. They did come very close. The cap which is poured concrete, has some leftover marks from the forms. Clean up was done well except for the rinsing of mortar pans etc in my yard.

They were on time, came prepared with everything they would need, including a large sheet to put on the floor around the fireplace to prevent making a mess of our house. The vacuum they use has a really neat inflating bag that keeps even the smallest ash and dust particles inside. This prevents the vacuum from spewing ash dust fumes into the air in our house. He told us that our chimney had probably not been cleaned in 10 years, but it still only took him about 30-40 minutes to thoroughly clean the entire thing! When he was done he cleaned up after himself and put everything back in place. We were very satisfied and would highly recommend this company if you need your chimney cleaned!

Within 10 minutes of making my appointment over the phone the company had sent me an Outlook calendar invite for the scheduled time. This is a nice detail that I very much appreciate. The service technician arrived exactly on time, was polite, friendly, professional, and got right to work. The technician was careful to leave the work area as clean and orderly as he found it. I will be using this company again next year.

They got here early. I called in advance to see if they were coming early. They did a good job. They didn’t make any mess. The didn't try to sell us a cleaning job we didn't need. I don’t have anything to base their price with.

They arrived on time to give estimate, explained their procedure and gave me an estimate. They weren't the cheapest but had good credentials. They came on the arranged day, did the work and cleaned up thoroughly. The work apprears to have been done very well. We were pleased and would highly recommend them.

On the day the work was orginally scheduled, we had a sudden ice shower. So when the guys came to work on my chimney they decided to wait a few days due to the unsafe conditions. The job took a half day longer than planned due to some unforseen complications. However, I was not charged anything extra for the unplanned work.

English Sweep were the only company I called for quotes that actually inspected the chimney first to determine if sweeping was necessary. We had just moved into our new home and had no idea when/if if had last been done. All other companies I spoke to just swept the chimney and charged the standard sweep fee. I was very happy in this case to be told that the sweep was not needed so only paid about half what the other companies charged. Russ who came out inspected the lot and gave advice on certain things that needed doing like replacing the old broken chimney cap (I had already ordered a new one that I was installing myself). Overall a great experience.

Russ came out, assessed the situation, and said that because the transition line runs directly to the guard, it would be highly unlikely that there is a blockage in the vent line. Even so, he left a bid to replace the transition line, which would require two people because of difficult access to the dryer, instead of charging for a service call. I appreciate being treated honestly and fairly. I will certainly call English Sweep when I need our chimney cleaned. I'm now a loyal customer!

We have lived in our house for 40 years and had never had the chimney cleaned. I was, therefore, expecting that it would not be a simple cleaning job. I could see on the video they took of the chimney that it was damaged throughout and needed the stainless steel liner they recommended. The workmen were friendly and efficient and cleaned up thoroughly after the job. It was an expensive job, but we felt that it was a fair cost, given the deterioration in the chimney. Their estimate was for $200 more than the final cost, because they did not have to use a scaffold. For the warranty, they require that the chimney be cleaned annually. I will gladly call them to do the cleaning on a regular basis. Now we can have good fires in the winter without the fear of a chimney fire.
