In heat of the summer of 2012 one of our favorite old trees just up and died! The tree was in a very important spot and we were worried about how having it removed would affect the surrounding landscape. Country Tree Service responded to my request for an estimate immediately. We considered their price to be very fair and requested that they come to do the work on a day and time that would allow one of us to be present. They were very considerate of our time and came at the appointed time. The tree was removed quickly, the stump was ground out and all debris was gathered up and removed from our property. No one (except us) can tell that there was ever a tree in that spot.

County Tree Service gave us the least expensive bid, by far, on tree removal on our new house. We'd used them in the past and been pleased with their work, and this was no exception. The crew was prompt and worked quickly and professionally. The more than three story tree was downed within hours, and they even cleaned up the yard. There was a bit of a discrepancy in the bill, but that was taken care of by their office as soon as we called. All in all, I'd use them again!
Description of Work: County removed one 3 story tree from our backyard (that was putting pressure on our foundation), two much smaller trees that were pushing on the deck rails, and ground all three stumps. The stump grinding on the large tree was particularly tricky as it is very close to our deck.

They were very nice with everything and the pricing was very reasonable. They took away all of the debris and cleaned up after themselves. However, they did not notify me when they left. They only problem that I had with them was that they didn't tell me that they would be coming back after several days to take out the stump which was lack of communication.

County Tree Service was in the neighborhood doing trimming for neighbors and we asked them for a free estimate. The crew was available later that morning. So after finding out that their insurance was current and they had a good rating on Angies List, we hired them. The work went quickly and smoothly. They took down the trees and cut up the limbs and trunks in firewood lengths and then stacked the small logs on our woodpile. The section of trunk they stacked neatly to the side to dry prior to splitting. (We will do the log splitting.) They raked and cleaned up the area. They did such a great job that each man was given a tip! (We did fill in some divots where the tree fell in the lawn the next day with topsoil, but we hadn't discussed those minor reparations with the company rep and, besides, they gave us such a great price that we didn't think it fair to ask them to come back.) Overall, it was a great job with nice people and we would hire them again!
Description of Work: Two large trees were removed from the back yard. One was an old oak at least 70 foot tall and near some power lines.

I called and left a message wanting an estimate for the work mentioned. Steve called me back, set up a time for the next day. He worked up an estimate and also gave me some advice on the other trees and shrubs in our yard. Unfortunately, the next day we had snow so they couldn't come out until the snow was gone. They were here the first clear day there was and did the work very quickly and cleaned up the yard very well. The only complaint I had was that nobody called me to tell me they were coming - not sure if they would have done the work if no one was home. Two days later another man came and did the stump grinding. He also tidied up the yard before he left. I am very pleased with the work overall.
Description of Work: We had a leaning pine tree cut down and the stump grinded. They also pruned 3 trees and removed some wild cedar trees growing in our planting strip. They cleaned up the debris when they were finished and hauled it away.

We had used them last year and all was fine so we thought we would use their services again this year to have some trees trimmed. I called multiple times and NEVER talked to a person. All I ever got was voice mail. I was wanting an estimate to have some trees trimmed. I left the address on the voice mail and ask that I be called. I never was. An estimate arrived in the mail without even talking to me and seeing which trees I wanted trimmed. I called again and asked to be called back so I could discuss the estimate. Once again, no return call. I decided to get another tree service but one day when I arrived home I noticed that a couple of the trees had been trimmed and no note was left on the door. I thought the city had trimmed them as they were hanging over the street. A few days later I received a bill from County Tree Service for $225 which was the amount of the estimate. Since I could not get through by phone to talk to anyone, I got their e-mail address off their website and sent them a message saying that I would pay by credit card. Again no response. I finally decided to send them a check as I didn't want a lien filed against my parents house. There is no excuse for such poor customer service and we will never use their service again nor will I ever recommend them to anyone. We never authorized them to trim our trees, they didn't discuss with us which trees we wanted to be trimmed yet they came and trimmed two trees without notice or authorization and while I was not there. They never responded to several phone calls or the e-mail.

I apologize for the confusion on this issue. Due to the fact it was a smaller job the scheduling of this must be done when there is something else in the area to allow us to afford to send employees out. I left a message and spoke with the resident of the property of the estimate as well as received a message the estimate was good to go. I value the customer's opinion and will strive to communicate better with my customer's relatives in the future.

I simply received a few estimates, and choose County Tree Service. The tree was taken down with no collateral damage and about a week later, the stump was ground down. The area was well cleaned, and all debris removed (except for the stump shavings, which were left in a neat pile at the site).

A representative of County Tree Service came to our door, offering to give an estimate on tree removal. I showed him the large tree in our back deck that needed to be removed. He wanted to know how much the other bids were I had received. I refused to tell him until he came up with a bid, which was $2800. When I told him that was less than another bid I had received, he started to add on to it --- $200 more to remove the stump, and $200 more to remove the stump debris! I asked for references, and he showed me a stack of work orders that were very old, and said nothing about how satisfied the customers were. Later, I got a much lower bid from the tree service I usually use. I did not use County Tree.

We had not received a request for proposal at this address. Therefore, I know this was not a County Tree Representative that offered this estimate. If we were asked for references, we would gladly be able to provide a long list of satisfied customers. There are several companies in the region with "County" in their name and I believe this is where the misunderstanding lies. Our prices remain competitive for the industry we operate in as well. Thank You

They responded quickly to my request for an estimate and came to do the work the day after I called to say we wanted them to do it. The crew was polite and fast; they did the work in about 4 hours. They did a good job cleaning up and removing the debris from their work.
Description of Work: County Tree Service removed 3 mature trees including stumps: a locust, maple and magnolia. The locust tree overhung our neighbor's driveway and was only 10 feet from our house. The other trees that were removed were in open areas of our yard. They also trimmed 2 sycamore trees within 20 feet of our house and an oak tree in our yard. Around the maple that was removed, County Tree Service removed an area of brush and vines about 30 feet in diameter.

We have used County several times to take down and trim several trees. They are reasonably priced, but do haggle the price down from their initial offer, there is wiggle room. The best point is they are well staffed, have the equipment, and can get the job done quickly and clean up after the job is done.
Description of Work: The company removed a large tree in the back yard and several smaller dead trees were thrown in. Talked out the price in the evening and the company was there there the next day. The truck ran over the grass going out, and after calling about it, they came back out and repaired it w/o question.

The estimator came to my house just a few hours after I phoned to ask for an estimate. Because I have had these trees priced before, I knew the estimate was very reasonable and so I accepted on the spot. I asked if it was possible for the job to be done before Xmas. The estimator said he couldn't promise that, but that the company would call me if it wasn't possible. The crew arrived the next morning (12/22). They did a sensitive job on reshaping the trees. They removed all the debris, including the leaves that fell during the work (the magnolias are deciduous evergreens). The foreman, Josh Mifflin, took pains to explain to me that two large branches (including one all the way at the top) that appeared to be dead were actually alive, flexible and with tiny buds, so he wanted to be conservative and leave them on the tree to see if they'd come back in the spring. I was pleased with the whole operation and will definitely call on them again.

County Tree Service gave me a reasonable bid which was the lowest bid I received from three companies for taking down two large trees that were close to my house. He provided me with a copy of his insurance information and was very courteous and informative. They showed up when they said they would with a full crew. They worked quickly and safely, and cleaned up everything, including sawdust. You can't even tell there was a tree in my front yard where they removed the stump. They repaired a divot in my neighbor's yard where my tree fell, and offered to pay for a perennial plant that got smashed accidentally :) I would definitely recommend County Tree Service.

Excellent, Ted came out right away after a thunderstorm and gave us the estimate. While he was there, another company came to give an estimate. Ted was very understanding about waiting until we decided which company to use and was very quick and responsive.

The work was great but when I spoke with Ted, he gave me an estimate over the phone. I thought we had agreed to wait on the work until he mailed and I returned the written estimate but I could be mistaken. A week or so later, I came home and found that the work had been done. I had planned to eliminate a couple of the jobs due to budget issues. When I spoke with Ted, he agreed to reduce the bill by $50.00.

He told me that all of his men were arborists and that they would do a good job. I decided to use them based on this. He told me he would be coming out to supervise, but when the crew arrived, he was not with them. The men that came were the rudest people I have ever dealt with. I was promised the tree would not be cut passed a certain point, but I had to run out and tell them to stop when I saw how much they were removing. I was very disturbed and explained what I had wanted, but they didn't like me telling them their business. The boss of the crew that came was working on another area, and I went to him to talk about specific things that I wanted cut on a different tree. He said "No I can't!" They were very rude, and I decided to not use them for spraying, which I had originally discussed with the boss before the work started. When I complained about the bad cutting job on my tree, the boss did give me a discount, which I did not ask for. I was disappointed with how much was cut off of my tree and how I was treated by these men. Addendum: I just recently received a bill from this provider for $410 and I am not sure why. I have already paid the bill even though he ruined my trees.

There was one ISA certified arborist on the job and all other arborist (men who make their profession in arbor culture) had years of experience. The job was completed and the customer kept requesting more work. Thus the disagreement about price and effectiveness of the job. While we respect the member's opinion, the $200 dollar minimum cost is suppose to match up with a minimum amount of work not as much as the customer pleases.

Service was punctual and complete with tree removal and pruning. Owner promised that they would return to grind the tree stump on Monday. He called me twice Monday for payment by credit card. I called him back and paid by credit card yet when I arrived at home later that evening I discovered that they had not returned to grind the stump. On Tuesday they came to grind the stump and the tread came off of the equipment. They left the equipment in the yard while they went for a new part. Upon arriving home I noticed that there was a 3 foot high pile of debris where the tree stump had been and there were wood chips scattered over the driveway, sidewalk and street. I called Ted the owner to register my complaint and he said that "clean-up was an extra charge, read the contract dude". He stated that his crew was trying to get the equipment fixed so that they could remove it from my yard and that they probably overlooked blowing off the driveway and sidewalk and that if I was so worried about a little debris they would come by and blow it off. I stated that he should be more worried about the customer experience. He again asked "what's your problem dude" and hung up on me. Yes the OWNER, Ted Hooss hung up on me. Cutting down Bradford Pear = $300, Pruning 2 trees = $120, grinding tree stump = $50. County Tree Professionalism = WORTHLESS!!! Do yourself a favor and steer clear if being valued as a customer is important.

We were dealing with trying to finish the job, and we were not trying to give the customer an unpleasant exsperience, because of the break down of the equipment. I called County Tree Service in late September to get a quote on some work on our trees. I have a large, old maple that is dying and a small Japanese maple and spruce I wanted trimmed. Steve, the owner and an arborist, came out and discussed options for the maple with me (deadwooding vs. removal) and gave me quotes for each option. He also gave me estimated wait times for each option. In the end, we decided to deadwood the maple rather than remove it. County called a few days before they planned to come to let me know they would be working on the trees on that date. It ended up raining that day, but Steve called and let me know his crew would be out first thing the following morning. They arrived on time, did the work we discussed and did a nice clean-up job. I chose County Tree Service over 2 other companies I got quotes from, partly because their price was slightly lower, but mostly because Steve was the most personable of the three and really took time with me to discuss my options and gave his opinion. I would definitely recommend this company.

My only complaint was that I wanted to make sure that they had worker's comp and liability insurance. The rep told me over the phone that he would e-mail me the info. He did not. I told him that after I got it, I would let him know whether or not to proceed. He even reiterated this to me, so I know there was no misunderstanding. The next day, I left my house and came back home 45 minutes later and the crew was in my back yard cutting down my tree. I was shocked. The crew gave me the name of the insurance company that I immediately called. All insurance was paid and up to date, but regardless, it was very unprofessional of them to start work without my final OK, which I ABSOLUTELY had NOT given. If this hadn't happened they would have received an high A across the board. They did forget a rope and leaf rake in my yard. They did come back and got the rope but still left the rake.
Description of Work: Cut down a large poplar tree in my backyard. Also cut down a medium size poplar tree, and then trimmed dead and live branches from over my deck and house from two huge oak trees. Removed debris. The crew guys were very nice, cleaned up well and did a very good job. The price for all this was less than another estimate I got for just cutting down the one large poplar.
