Not so hot.
Description of Work: I had heard great things about County Tree Service. I called them to get an estimate on pruning two trees and a large holly bush, taking one tree down and grinding out a stump. I had trouble getting them to come by the house to do the estimate -it took a couple of weeks. The quote was incorrect because they included the wrong tree to be taken down. I called back numerous times to get the quote changed and the work started. I have not heard from County Tree. I am very disappointed that they have been so unresponsive.

It did take longer, because of the snow. I thought after I gave you and exceptional low price that you would understand we could not come any quickly because of the weather. Thankyou, Ted Hooss

Often we are busy, we try to call the customers to meet. We find most of the time we are playing phone tag. If we would have known you were from Angie's List we would have kept calling you back until we gotten a hold of you. After the third time and we don't hear back from the customers we just figured you don't need tree service done from us.

I asked them to contact me so I could be here when they did the work. I got home one morning to find them almost finished. They completed the work, cleaned up very well, and I gave the foreman the check. As I walked back to the house I discovered they had severely damaged a square of the concrete walk beside the house. I ran back, took the check back, and got the foreman to look at the damage. He said there was no sign of any wood on the concrete and there was no way they had damaged it. I said, of course you did, this walk was fine this morning. He went to the truck and then came back and said that one of the workers admitted to doing it. He said they would take care of it. I called the company the next day to verify he had reported it. He had. I asked for the name of the concrete company and that I be informed when they would do the work. I didn't get any information. Two weeks later, with no action, I thought to call the salesman, whose cell phone number I had. He came by, looked at the damage, said they would need to use a concrete saw to separate the concrete and could replace one square, and said he'd deal with it.. Two days later I came home to find someone had been there, had removed a part of the damaged square, and in the process broken the corner of the next square. I again called the salesman and he was appalled. I told him we were having a large party, needed the repairs done in three days, and if they were not done I was calling Angie's list. This time I left my cell phone number in a plastic bag under a rock at the repair site. The concrete guy called me. He said this was the second time he'd been called by County Tree to finish a bad concrete job by the "yahoos" they hire to repair concrete damage. He said the owner had asked him to give him a bid and instructed him to replace one concrete square and repair the damaged corner of the second. He said that was not professional - I said it was unacceptable to me to do it that way. He called the County Tree Service owner (Ted) in my presence and I listened to the conversation. Ted was rude to the concrete guy and in response to being told the owner didn't want the corner repaired Ted said, "I don't give a @#$% what the owner wants!" The concrete guy hung up on him and said he'd never work for him again. I got Ted's cell number from the concrete guy, called him and identified myself as the owner - He was immediately rude to me and said I didn't know anything about concrete, who did I think I was, etc. etc. I hung up, asked the concrete guy to tell me how much he would charge to fix the concrete, and pleaded with him to call Ted and give him the bid. Ted did not answer the phone. The next day the concrete guy called back and told me Ted had called him and asked him to do the repair. Ted called me a few days later to check that the walk was repaired. It is, but of course it does not match the original walk which was only two years old.
Description of Work: I hired them to remove a large, dead Mulberry Tree in my back yard. Their fee fit into the three bids I had, so I hired them based on Angie's List. The tree was close to a new privacy fence and they had to drop a cable line to drop the tree. They had to climb the tree as there is no access to a bucket truck.

The repair of the concrete became a drama, because of the man I hire was trying to do obtain extra work from Member, and created sitiuation of mistrust so she would rely on him. Member was not very understanding and often unpleasant in the sitiuation. The completion of the job was completely professional and Member told the concrete man she would have him come back to do more work. The color didnt match because it was new. Thankyou, Ted Hooss

They came out and gave us a bid. We compared to others we received and chose this company. They came out the same day we contacted them to be put on their calendar and took down the tree. In fact, the quick same-day removal caught us by surprise. Because of the very rainy season, they had to come back in between the monsoons when the yard had dried out to grind the stump. Job completed and we are very happy with the results. We definitely will use them again and also recommend them to our neighbors and friends.

The evaluation and estimate visit was free and gave us several options for dealing with our problem. They additionally identified other potential problems around the yard (3/4 acre semi-wooded lot). For the job, the whole team (8 employees) arrived promptly as scheduled, walked around the lot confirming exactly what was expected and the method for cutting. They divided and began simultaneously taking down the limbs and trees. They were very careful not to use climbing spikes on the live tree (that was not being cut down) to prevent harm to the tree and took great care not to harm existing wildlife. We were amazed at the accuracy of their fall lines. Throughout the process they removed electrical lines across the fall path and reconnected them, took extreme precautions to avoid damage to windows, etc. The stumps were cut to our exact specifications. The team cleaned every stray limb and stick from the yard and used a blower to remove sawdust and debris from the roof, yard, and curb.
Description of Work: The team trimmed dead limbs hung up at the top of an oak due to storm damage and removed two trees (down to stumps) that were growing against the foundation and side of our two story house. The two large trees were actually growing against (touching) a large plate glass bay window - so that made the job trickier. Additionally, an electric line runs all the way across the yard (hanging from house to oak tree) powering street lights throughout the lot. This had to be dropped to allow for the tree fall and reconnected (home built 1957). We had a great deal of minor storm damage recently and the tree care team removed and chipped every last limb and stick. Additionally, for no charge, they sawed 3 very large fallen oak limbs for us to keep for firewood.

They very promptly gave us 2 different bids. We requested to be called when they were coming out, so we could oversee the work, as there were specific limbs we wanted removed. On the first date that was scheduled, they didn't show up, didn't call, and didn't return any of our calls re: their status. 4 days later, we came home to find they had been at our house, still without any return calls or notice, that they were coming. Everything looked wonderful, except one limb that we SPECIFICALLY asked be removed. We called immediately regarding this limb and were told someone would be out. No one came. We again called re: the limb when our bill came. No one came. Over the past 5 weeks, we have made MULTIPLE calls requesting they complete their work, so we could pay them. They have told us multiple times, someone would be sent out, but no one ever has. They called today, rather rude, wanting to know where their money was. The limb is still there.
Description of Work: Trim 3 very large oak trees in backyard, not including clean-up and haul-away, as we wanted to do this ourselves.

Often time when scheduling work our plans are changed by factors i.e. customer that we are working for add on more work which causes our next appointments to be delayed or even at the end of the day to be rescheduled. In this case we apologize to the member for not making the scheduled appointment. Someone should have called the member to inform her of the change of schedule. I am sure the limb has been removed. The workers showed up a couple of hours late but did a good job of trimming the trees and hauling/cleaning up. They also removed a shrub from the front. They were suppose to grind out the stump from the leftover shrub removal. The workers said they would send someone on Monday of the following week. I called the rep (Steve) and he said he would send someone. Three weeks have passed and no one has come to grind out the stump.

County Tree gave an extensive estimate and description of the work they proposed to do. They were on time and did a huge amount of work in one day. They cleaned up well. They had a large crew which worked efficiently together. They talked with us at the end and asked if there was anything that did not look right to us. When we mentioned a limb, they quickly took care of it.
