It went perfect, I had no problems at all. Very nice and professional.
Description of Work: Poured a back aggregate patio with stairs. They also made a design not just a square patio.

If any of this is typical w concrete work, then I stand corrected. Had 3 bids & Wellington?s (W) was within $60 of another. Choice was tied between these 2 & both had A ratings on here. Other co had many more reviews to W?s 2 which were also old, but was having fence replaced at same time which would sit on portion of new patio & W had done previous work w fence co, so I chose W. Project started fine, but day 3 I found sunroom support pushed in?they hit w/Bobcat. I told Tim (T) & he pulled back out w/Bobcat. I admit I was impressed w his ability to do, but wished never happened. Plus beam is still not snug back up to corner post, but trusted T as a contractor that is secure again & figured was accident that happens w this type of work. Next day I saw bay window corner had been hit (2nd incident). I told T & he said he?d fix. Again w/o prior experience, I figured can happen. Project completes & T says done. I thought window was still damaged, but he said fixed. Found it was not. T said he pulled metal out as best he could. Though it was still bent & paint gone. I clearly wasn?t happy & he asked if was ?show-stopper?. Now his crew are all nearby plus fence guy & crew, & he clearly thought wasn?t an issue. T then said he did 1 of my steps for free as forgot to bid & that could make up for. As minority at the time (homeowner vs. crew), I thought I must be picky & at this point I was ready for them to be gone & just deal w later. Hence I said I?d just fix myself, paid him, & he was on his way. Trucks/commotion are gone & I?m excited 2 see new concrete. 2 days later I notice where concrete met pool coping that concrete was higher many places w sharp top edge (not good for bare feet near pool). Again still mesmerized by new patio, I just planned to have swimmers be careful & try to fix myself as soon as I can. Less than 2 weeks later, I notice 4 long cracks in concrete, some only 1/4" away from cuts & 6? long. T did say during bid all concrete cracks, so thought was part of it. I also noticed skimmer basket didn?t fit as previously. T bid new skimmer box for $350 as he said they usually crack during work, so I opted for as seemed required but result was only a PVC ring caulked sloppily onto cracked old skimmer. Again, just figured is small issue & I need to get over it. Summer ends & my pool company had to reinstall cover anchors in new patio & they told me I need to get caulk put back before winter between concrete & coping. T installed a plastic foam role between the 2 which I assumed industry perhaps did instead of caulk now. Pool company said no & foam is temporary while they pour & there?s a perforated portion at top that removes for caulk after. Sure enough, he shows me perforation. I contacted T right away to see if missed or if they return to do after concrete sets. His wife replies that bid didn?t include so I should have pool company do. I thanked for quick reply & said I didn't realize since it was there before & removed -that it would not be put back. I asked if I was supposed to specifically ask for or if this is an item concrete companies don't do (just to understand). NO reply even after a 2nd email to make sure received. With the company now going AWOL after noticing something important was not done -THIS is the point that I realized the type of company I used & really started to question the normalcy of the other issues. I called my pool company & learned they don?t do caulking. Plus called 2 other companies but no reply. So being desperate, I emailed T one more time just (#3) telling him I?m not having luck w finding someone to caulk. Also since I was emailing him anyway, I went ahead & asked if the cracks I experienced were expected (not blaming-just asking) as well as mentioned concern w tall rough edges as pool company said could cut cover, so asked if would need grinded down before caulking. Again -NO reply. I always try to give people benefit of doubt, so I would try the phone. I called him twice leaving messages w each & no reply. Also know all of these contacts are over a period of 2 months, so I was by no means rapid fire contacting him & he had plenty of time to reply. If I could easily grind down & caulk myself-I would; but as a DIY homeowner-this would take a long time & gap is bigger than a couple of standard off the shelf tubes can do. Looking back at whole experience-I realize what type of company this is. I?ve filled cracks w sealer but is tan (only color I could find) so sticks out like sore thumb. I also used touch up paint on window bay but clearly looks like band-aid. Gap to be caulked around pool & sharp edges still remain. I now continue to notice other smaller things that by themselves would be fine, but now realize type of quality I received, so I think could?ve been avoided: e.g. concrete splatter marks on siding/windows, pool light access cap is sloppily concreted in & some poor design. As far as the poor design, I admit this is technically what I asked for, BUT I now think could have been guided better. To explain, old patio & rear parking pad were only 2? foot apart causing a dirt gap to struggle w landscaping wise, so I had them continue new patio up to parking pad. However both sections sloped/drained towards this former earth gap so a drain was needed & T installed. As a result all driveway debris now overruns drain & washes onto patio & stains, so I think there should?ve been a divider w a drain for each. Concrete is also sloped more considerably on this side so looks like patio goes up hill like a parking lot rather than a patio. To be fair, perhaps I should?ve realized the potential draining problem myself & maybe slope complaint sounds picky, but when you hire a pro-you should be getting experience. I had other contractors during project planning say something like "I can do it that way, but I don't think you'll be happy. What about this?" Unfortunately this didn?t happen. Again if this was only issue-it wouldn't bother me but combined w everything-just lends to whole experience. If the missing caulk was never discovered & he didn't go silent after inquiring about raising a red flag -I would never have focused on these other issues. So $9K later I?m stuck w patio only months old that doesn?t look new at all w:cracks, missing caulk, sharp protrusions, runoff stains, & skimmer held together w caulk. AVOID! Once paid & you discover job he?s done-he's gone! UPDATE w company reply (3/10): BOX BAY DAMAGE -every detail on window is the God?s honest truth. Not sure why he?s denying or doesn?t recall. I have no reason to make this up. Other company was involved in conversation so why would I lie about this. Also if they acknowledged hitting a sunroom w Bobcat, does hitting corner of window really seem implausible? PAYMENT -He is correct, I shouldn?t have paid him, BUT I explained why I did above. CRACKING -He is correct -he did tell me upfront concrete cracks as I acknowledged above BUT w no experience how does one know how soon & to what extent is normal expectation..4 cracks? 40 cracks? 2 feet? 20 feet? ¼ inch wide? 6 inches wide? In my email, I simply described cracks (quantity & location) & just asked if this was expected this soon. No reply. The only reason I even asked about the cracks was because I was already emailing him to check in about the caulk. I guess questions post install are prohibited. SKIMMER ?He is correct & did tell me store sold him this instead, BUT did I realize from conversation that end result would be this $10 ring sloppily caulked off center onto broken top of the old skimmer for $350?No. Days later when I really looked at end result, I thought I misunderstood bid so rechecked & confirmed included skimmer box as well as what a ?skimmer box? entailed & believe this was not right. Google skimmer box, skimmer ring, note prices, & see pics of end result. What would you think you were getting for $350? I also just called a pool company myself who said replacement of this item at time of deck removal is less than $1k & not $3500. Also if this is a portion he didn't feel comfortable doing, he should have sub'd out to a pool company. SOME CUSTOMERS NEVER SATISFIED? -Does a company that doesn?t reply to customers really have grounds to claim this? Also does a customer that initially overlooks running into house twice w machinery, sharp concrete around their pool, charging $350 for a $10 ring & tube of caulk, & 4 cracks within 14 days -really sound like a difficult person to you? I gave him over 4 & half months to reply before I did this review -how many of you would give a contractor that long to respond?

Response from Wellington Concrete
As stated in the review one of our employees did run into the sun room as stated we did fix the damage we have never and would never not fix any damage we may have caused. This was an accident and is not something that normally happens. However with that being said we did not damage the box bay window if we did damage it, we would have made sure if was fixed properly. Also if we damaged something I would not ask if it was a show stopper and/or address a client that way at anytime or in front of my employees or anyone else for that matter. If this was true than I'm not sure why I was paid in full. If someone was working on my home and damaged something they would not be paid in full until the damage was fixed. As for as the concrete cracking as I told Mr. [Member Name Removed] concrete does crack I installed expansion joints everywhere that required an expansion joint. Just as if building a home when things starts settling and moving cracking occurs. Their is no way to control this 100%. Mr. [Member Name Removed] knows that a new skimmer ring was being installed not a skimmer box. Yes after looking back at the bid it does say skimmer box however, Mr. [Member Name Removed] new it was ring that was being installed a new skimmer box approximately cost $3500.00 dollars to install after contacting pool companies and speaking to them they stated it was not a new box but a ring that should be installed to install a new box you have to chip away at the old box it is a very tough job to do which I have never done and would not do because I am not a pool company. We have been in business since 1997 after 19 years in business I have learned I can not make every customer happy there is always going to be that one person that no matter what you do is unsatisfied. In reading my other reviews it shows what type of company I do run and that I have been in business this long for a reason.

I called 8 concrete companies and Wellington called me back within the day. Only 3 of them called back at all and the other 2 took a week to call me back. Wellington was referred to me by a co-worker who had them do a driveway replacement. I called and he met with me very promptly and at the time we said. He gave me a quote quickly and told me he could start within 2 weeks. He started on the day he said and finished almost on the day he said (lost a day due to rain). And, I added to the project after he started so that made it even bigger. His price was the best price we had. I even told him his price seemed too low and he came back and said - that's the price I calculated and if I'm wrong, it's my problem. He did a fantastic, high quality job and even added some nice touches to it that I wouldn't even have thought to ask for. It looks fantastic. I've since had several friends, very knowledgeable in concrete, come by and comment on what a high quality job he did. I was super pleased and would absolutely recommend these guys to anyone.
Description of Work: Wellington installed a new driveway and front sidewalk for me. They tore out an old asphault driveway and completely replaced it with a new driveway. Took 6 days and approximately 10 concrete trucks worth of material. Was a large project for a residence.
