We had a bit of a deadline to get the inspection done before closing. But I made the phone call, got the quote, and had the appointment made for the next day. He was on time for the inspection, perfectly professional and honest. He looked in the septic, said the ballasts were good, the septic itself was in good condition. Asked how many bedrooms were in the house, turns out the tank itself is too small for the house by modern standards. But not uncommon for when the house was built (around 1940). But our main problem is that there are no laterals, the septic is draining (illegally) into a nearby ravine. After covering everything back up, he went into the basement to check out the pipes... all of which were in good condition luckily. But, all said and done, it only lasted a little over half an hour. And within a couple days I had not only the inspection, but a bid to see what it would cost to make everything legal. We're taking a credit for half the cost of the bid from the sellers and are going to get the repair done after closing.

This company does very good tile work. The rest left a bit to be desired. The job was supposed to take 5 days and took 3 weeks. They worked most days from 9:30 am till 3pm and there were 3 days when they did not show up at all or call to say they wouldn't be coming. They subcontracted the granite work and that sub damaged my new hardwood floor. They said that they would repair my floor the week after they left the project. They never showed up or called to do the repair. They did allow me to short pay 200.00 for the damage but that amount will not cover the repair. They were contracted to wire for two pendulum lights and never completed that job either, so I had Metro Electric come and they told me that Unique had used 10 gauge wiring and had blown both transformers in the lights. Cost to me to repair was 200.00 in material and the cost of the electrician, which I had already paid them to do. They also wired the under cabinet lighting and hid the wires under the tile. Unfortunately, the lights that I purchased do not support the 7th light for the voltage power pack and now I cannot replace them with a model that does. You would think that an electrician would understand voltage requirements or at least check them prior to installation. They told me they would send someone in to clean up the mess but that didn't happen either. There were plenty of reassurances made on their behalf but none were acted upon. They were extremely unorganized and did not document any change order charges but presented to me verbally, a bill at the end for 3,500.00 in up charges including the tile for my backsplash that was already written into the original estimate. I am not pleased to have to submit a negative review because all along I wanted to give them the benefit of resolution, but they dodged that, so be it!
