+ -1 moreI've used them several times. They've put in two systems for me at different rentals. They came out and did some service work and then when it wasn't enough for it, they credited that work toward my purchase of the new system. All in all, I think the furnace was like $1,800 or $1,900. And I got a bigger unit than I had purchased because they couldn't get ahold of the right size at the time, so that was pretty neat. I would grade them absolutely an A on everything. There were two workers who came to complete the furnace and I'd say it took four hours, maybe more.
Description of Work: This was for installation of a new furnace.

+ -1 moreThey will be out here next week. I have had really good luck with them. I use them on an ongoing basis. I have got a contract with them. They just come out every year. It's kind of expensive but I don't have any problems either.
Description of Work: I have worked with Reliable Heating & air conditioning for years. They come out every spring and every late in the autumn. I have got three furnaces in the house and they service all three of them and they service all three air conditioners in the spring and last time was probably around March.

+ -1 moreI'd give them an A I've used them for a long time, the problem I have is I had one guy come out and said hey you've got a part that;s broken, the next guy came out and said yes the parts broken and they never called me to tell me that they didn't have the part to fix it. They said they have to order it, well they never called me back. I had to call them back then they said oh yea we have to go order it. But usually they do a good job. Marty does great work, I've been very happy with them, I've used them for years. It's just on this one it has been kind of a frustrating experience.
Description of Work: I use Reliable Heating & Cooling, Inc for heating and A/c services. They came out and looked at an air conditioner that was not functioning properly.

+ -1 moreRELIABLE was the provider that my home warranty program selected to perform ac service. They Arrived within 24 hours of my reported problem. Service man looked at my ac and was unable to contact warranty provider due to office being closed. He left after 30 minutes and stated he would call me back on 5/27 with warranty company response to services needed. The warranty compancy decided that problem was not covered. The problem was maintaince related and not covered under my warranty. No one from the company ever called to offer to provide the AC service needed. I have to have ac in a st. Louis summer. Very unprofessional service was provided. I paid $100 for the service call and no service was provided. I had service performed with another company. Will never use reliable again. Poor customer service. Manager stated to me that I was supposed to call then if I wanted the maintaince that was needed. I was told by service technician when he left my house that they would call me back. Very poor communication between office and service tech. I don't understand why they would not offer to provide the service needed, despite it not being covered under my home warranty?

+ -1 moreWe can't say enough about everyone at Reliable Heating and Cooling. We researched and received bids from three other companies. While Reliable was not the cheapest, their quality of work and our confidence in their service after the sell was worth the extra. Mike spent time with us and explained each option and at no time were we pressured into the "most expensive" equipment. We feel with Mike's clear guidance and explanation, we made the best choice for our lifestyle and for what we hoped to receive from this type of unit. The installation went smoothly. Brad arrived as scheduled and was very professional with each aspect of the installation. Marty came later to make certain everything was working correctly. By mid-afternoon, we were up and running. Both installers were very respectful of both our home and our time. We couldn't have asked for more. We have been extremely pleased with the unit, it is performing as Mike said it would. Temperature is regulated now and all of the home seems more uniformly cooled and heated. Thanks to Realiable for their great service and quality. We would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for this service.

+ -1 moreWe have used this company for the past four years because they came recommended by our Realtor. We have been happy with their service and feel they have always done honest and quality work. Their technicians are always friendly and efficient. However, scheduling an appointment somewhat difficult to do. Their policy is that they will not call until the day of the service to let you know a window of time the service technician will arrive which makes planning hard to do if you work outside of the home.

+ 0 moreGot home from work and the house was 86deg. Someone mentioned Reliable to me and thought I would check them out. I called and within 1.5 hours the tech showed up. I honestly didn't think I would get it fixed until the next day. Sara was great on the phone and Ralph the technician was great to talk to. He tested a few things and gave me a price. They had the parts in the truck, repairs completed and unit cleaned in an hour. Everything is working great and the house is cold. Awesome job, thanks guys.

+ -1 moreReliable Heating and Cooling has replaced my A/C, furnace, and water heater over the years as necessary. The equipment had lasted 18 years before they recently had to replace it. There was a significant cost reduction to do the furnace and A/C at the same time as the age of both was similar. I appreciated being so informed, and had both done. The new units are much more efficient. Their work is always professional, the site cleaned, and my questions answered and suggestions given to me, such as periodic cleaning of the A/C fins to put less strain on the system. They took the time to shoe me how to do it. About 35 years ago my neighbor recommended Ken Paterson's company (Ken was then the owner) because my neighbor's A/C had failed. One company wanted to replace the whole unit. Ken came out and suggested that the whole unit might be replaced, but a smaller repair could be tried first. The unit lasted past longer than my neighbor -- he had 10 more years service from that original unit. This convinced me of the integrity of Reliable, and I remained convinced that they are one of the best companies in their business. I fully trust them.
Description of Work: The $159 cost is for both the spring check -up of the air conditioner and fall check-up of the furnace. That fee also gives me priority for service if there is a problem later in the season. This September they came out and cleaned and checked the burners, and did other necessary service checks to insure that our furnace is at peak performance. The thermostat was checked, the air filtering system which they had previously installed was checked. and the humidifier filter checked and reset for winter.

+ 0 moreI called Reliable on a Monday night and asked for service the next day between 10 am and 1:00 pm. And mentioned that this was from a Angies List referral. I pulled up the web site for reliable and there was no mention of the service call fee, I spoke with a representative on the 13th of November around 9 am to confirm the arrival time. Again there was no mention of the service cost fee. Granted I should have asked, but no mention, the technician arrived on time and submitted the quote. I asked the tech how much was the price of the part and he stated $350. I said that is high for an ignitor and he stated that it was an expensive part, so I went on with the repair. After the repair was done, I was given the invoice and the price of the ignitor was not there. There was a lump sum price of $336.00. plus $50.00 for cleaning the unit. I asked why was there no price listed for the ignitor, the tech then stated that he had a book with a set price that he went by. He was in my home for 54 min, and charged me $386.00 for parts and labor, minus $20.00 for the Angies List coupon. After some research the part cost over the counter $54.00, ok I understand jacking up the price to $108.00, but labor for 54 min is $218.00!? I'll NEVER call this company AGAIN, and I will NEVER recommend them to anyone. READ THIS AND BEWARE, LET MY ENCOUNTER BE YOUR LAST!!!!

+ -1 moreWe were a bit concerned when the rep showed up late for the initial assessment to provide a quote for the work. However, he was very apologetic and explained as to why he was late. He provided us a fair quote and was honest in letting us know that Reliable was not the cheapest but they were not the most expensive. This was a very honest statement! Reliable was just about in the middle of the quotes that were provided to us. After careful consideration and discussion we scheduled Reliable to install a new AC and furnace in our home. The appointment was scheduled for 8am but they were here at 8:15AM. We were told they would have the work completed by 2-2:20PM. Much to our surprise the work was completed at approximately 1PM. The 2 technicians who were onsite for the install were very professional and very clean. There is no indication they did any work except for the new units in place of the old units. The technician who did the furnace install also explained the programmable thermostat to us. He showed us how to program it and explained how to set it up in an easy to understand way. He was very friendly and courteous to my wife and I. I would recommend Reliable Heating & Cooling to anyone looking for new equipment for their home. I would let them know to be prepared to spend a bit more than the cheapest bidder. However, the service and quickness of the install make it worth the bit of extra money. My wife wanted to point out she is surprised by how much smaller the new furnace is compared to the old one. It is about half the size but has the same BTU as our old furnace. We are also amazed how much quieter the unit runs compared to our 25+ year old furnace. If the furnace is any indicator of how the new AC unit will perform, we will remain very satisfied with the work. And also feel like this was money well spent.

+ -1 moreAs in the past everything went wee. When we initially had the furnace installed we asked about cleaning the ducts. The Reliable service man said, "We do that but ut's mostly a scam. With this hepa filter installed the ducts will clean themselves in a short time and 'NO COOKIES IN, NO COOKIES OUT!'"

All during the time he was here, he kept me informed of the costs involved and I ok'ed the repair work. Once the new capacit was installed, the AC unit came on and worked fine. + -1 moreI am quite leary of using this company again, but in all fairness, since I've had good experience in the past, will give them one more try.
Description of Work: On September 12, 2012 I called Reliable to set up the winterizing of my furnace. We set the date for 9/19/12 at or about 3:30 pm. I waited until 4:15 pm, no one showed. I called the company and was told it was set up for September 18, at 3:30 pm. Since I wrote the date on the calendar while we were talking I knew that was not correct. Not only did I write the date and time I asked the gentleman to reiterate the day and time. He did, then I repeated the date and time. He said there must have been a glitch in the system and could he call me back when he worked out another date and time. I waited until 4:25 pm and then had to leave. I called Reliable as I was leaving to inform them that this particular house was a rental and I needed them to keep that in mind when setting up a date and time. I had to make sure I was available. I was told that they tried to contact me, though I did not receive a message, telling me that a technician would be at my home by 4:45 pm. I had already left the premises and we had to set up another date and time. This date and time was set for 9/21/12 between the hour of 10 and 11 am. The technician showed up at 10:45 am. As the technician was leaving he handed me an article from ACCA Consumer Education Series letting me know that I would need to install a new, 90% efficient heating system by May 1, 2013 or I would not be compliant with government regulations. My husband then called a friend of his in the heating and cooling business and he said that this was not true. He told us that if my furnace broke I would then need to install a 90% efficient furnace after May 1, 2013. This was a blatant scare tactic that I did not appreciate at all. I have used Reliable for the last several years and have had no problems with them at all. I will probably try them again but did not appreciate the service at all on this particular occassion.
