Response from MAPLEWOOD PLUMBING
(Removed members personal information). I'm sorry to read your review. When we were called to your home, we took the call and the dispatch ticket read as follows: "called 6/22/15---wants customer provided insta hot water dispenser installed at Kitchen sink and also needs wax seal replaced on toilet. not sure if shut off works for toilet" Both of these items are usually pretty approachable, so we budgeted about two hours for this work. Once our plumber was on site on 6/23, he went through and assessed what you wanted to have done. He was on site for over an hour and shared the following observations with you or your wife: "Customer has multiple items that will take a large block of time to complete. Replace rear sillcock in basement ceiling. Possible leak from basement toilet but other water needs to dry first, basement was partially flooded from above. Installation of insta-hot dispenser under kitchen sink and spout in cast iron sink will require cast iron sink to be raised out of granite counter to access the mounting bracket of the dispenser. Will need two men because it is HEAVY. 3-5 hrs for two men. Charge diagnostic fee for visit. Customer had to leave." Basically, given the complications with your job, the additional tasks you wanted to have completed, and lack of time budgeted to complete the work as it now stood, we left you a bill for a diagnostic fee of $85 and had the office follow up with you regarding another appointment to complete the work. I followed up with a phone call to you regarding the visit on 6/24 as you were displeased with our diagnostic charge of $85, which is less than our normal minimum charge of $159 for the first hour of service. I reduced the bill to $0 as a show of good faith. I also made it a point to share with you the complications any other plumber you may retain for the work you needed to have done would encounter, so they could be efficient in there work. All in all, I feel like we did what we could, given the situation as it was. While we have not returned to help you with these matters, I hope you have had them resolved to your liking by whomever you ultimately retained to do the work.
