Jablan General Contracting

Good. I had a fence installed by Jablan which turned out great. The Contractor noticed brown spots on my driveway and offered to power wash and seal. The spots did not come out so he suggested I stain the driveway. The whole process took 3 to 4 days and the driveway looks great. The contractor was very responsive to my requests.

Jablan was responsive and contacted us to come out and look at the deck. The big deal was for 220sq. feet. Our deck has a floor of about 150 sq. feet, plus stairs and railings. The contractor said when adding on the stairs and railings the total sq. footage was more than 500 sq. feet. The estimate they gave us was double compared to other estimates we had got, so we decided not to go with the deal.

He seemed very knowledgebale. There was an extra $1800 associated with the deal so I decided I wanted to cancel. I don't think the deal's explanation was very clear.

The crew which included two guys came on Monday 09/16/13 and replaced fence, deck railings, power washed the front porch railings and almost completed the gate but ran out of wood and it was getting late. They did not cleanup behind themselves, leaving debris from old fence and deck railings in my back yard, debris from the power washing all in my driveway and was going to leave it on my walk way until I ask to clean it up. They advise they will finish up the next day and removed the debris, well it rained on some of the days during the week, so I had to deal with all the mess. I got a hold of the owner whom advise me that they would come out one day, didn't show but did come back on Saturday 09/21/13 to power wash deck and remove the debris. The owner Sanel advised me they were done for the day and would come back on Sunday 09/22/13 to stain everything and finish the gate. I left the house while they where still at my house. I realized I had forgot something and returned back home to find the owner getting his car washed in my driveway with my water. I was p***** to find them using my water for their own personal use. The owner return with his cousin on Sunday 09/22/13 to complete the job. I inspected the work after they said they where finished. Some of the wood used was either split or has big pieces of chuck missing and there was stain all over my brick pavers, concrete and some on my siding. When I addressed my concern to the owner he said he do not make the wood.. I told him he picked the wood. Then he started to tell me he could fill in the wood for an extra cost. i told him i was not paying more he should not have used the bad wood. He ended up filling up the wood. Sanel then begin to tell me that I should not expect perfection because its a little job and $1700 is what he puts in his truck for gas and that he had a $30,000 job. I told him if he though the job was to cheap he should not have accepted the job and $1750 is a lot to me. I have seen cheaper jobs he has done on this site. I could have gave the job to another company. He was very unprofessional and I will never ever use him again. My gut was telling me not to go with him since on first meeting with him he wrote the quote on the bottom of his business card. Who does that . I only went with him because the other company do not stain. I spend a lot of time reviewing companies before I hire them. I am starting to think just because they may have done a good job for someone else they might not do it for you. I went ahead and paid him and he only took off $10 because of the water they used for their own personal use. I am sure my water bill is going to increase more than just $10 ,as much as they used. I can go on and on but I will stop here, the more I type the more upset I find myself. Update: Sanely the owner from Jablangeneralcontracting sent me a text on 09/29/13 in response to my review I posted on Angie's list. This is what he said. "You are such embarrassment I hope you know that I would be ashamed of lying all that on angieslist when you know the whole truth from not washing truck I did you favor washed concrete around and I washed junk of my truck that went on your driveway. I cleaned up everything and you still complain. I never seen someone cry like little kid for water you should be ashamed to complain for water just remember what goes around comes around I would never ever come back even if your fence falls down you can forget my number you seen wood installed before it was stained you said everything looked good your are just lying and that's fine but you lost your respect and will never see me in front your house again don't call me for anything good or bad I'll appreciate you not wasting my time since you playing with my money on angieslist check your review where is now where will you be by Friday I'll get You covered I'm not worried I got plenty reviews but you sure don't have respect just so you know I'll reply back with truth as much as you did of lies. Have a great life."

He came to my home and said there was additional work that would need done in the amount of $1750 and I just can't afford that. He was very polite and courteous while he was at my home. I had no problems with them at all. When I called to make my appointment, he called me back very promptly and was able to come to my home that day.

They did an excellent job -- very professional and great quality.

Punctual, professional, cleaned up well after the work. Did everything on time.

Sanel was friendly and the job he did was ok. However, I bought a $99 Big Deal for what I thought was deck re-staining, and he immediately said that the deal only covered power-washing and sealant - and then only for the surface of the deck, not the sides or railing. My deck is old and needed more care, and the way the Big Deal was described felt deceptive. I also felt that I was being gouged on prices when I asked about adding on extra services that were not included. This is the first Angies's List provider I haven't felt confident about.

He was very prompt and efficient. I asked if he could get it done right away as I was having a party on my deck and he fit me in. The quality of his work was evcellent

He was a pleasant satisfactory transaction. Some misunderstanding at first more language then anything. Very please, very competent.

The service was excellent. He was very quick to respond, and the deck was done perfectly. His follow up was always great, and he is just a really good guy who communicates very well. While he was here working on the deck, he actually checked over the fence and found something that I had not noticed. Even though he was here for the deck, he still fixed what he saw. I felt that was very proactive of him, and I appreciated that.

I had a 30 year old fence and deck that was falling apart replaced. I had the fenced moved toward the sidewalk to create a larger back yard. I would highly recommend their service. Since I was moving the fence a site plan and permit were needed. Since I live in a historic district I needed approval to move the fence. They drew up the plan and obtained the permits from city hall. That was greatly appreciated since some fencing companies I contacted would not obtain the permit for the fence but only for the deck. The work was fantastic. I have no regrets and would highly recommend them to do any work.

They did a good job and it's one of those "Big Deals" and I have a problem with those deals because normally what I discovered is the "Big Deal" does not satisfy the job. It's a little confusing to me because you don't really know what you paid for but they did a good job on the fence. I had no problem with the service. They came like they said they were gonna come and did what they said they're gonna do. Here is the estimate and you only pay like 10% of it which what I was really confused of the "Big Deal".

The vendors supplier gave him a bucket of stain that was mismarked. Since that was the first one that was opened , it went unnoticed until the second was opened. By then, it was too late to change it. The deck is a bit lighter than we preferred, but the work was well done. The price was a bit more than we expected, but that was because of the size of our deck, nothing that he did. He did do a few extras for us to make up for the color mix up so it all came out well.

Since moving to the St Louis area a year ago, we have used Angie's List to locate and hire numerous contractors and health care providers. We have been very pleased with every one of them.... until now. I would never hire Jablan Fence & General Contracting again! Here's the story: We have a five foot cedar fence in our backyard that is in need of some repair. I searched Angie's List as usual for a good fence repair company. Jablan got good reviews and offered a $139 Wooden Fence Maintenance Package (a supposed $350 value). It was to include adjustment of two gates, re-nailing all loose pickets, and replacement of up to 10 damaged pickets. I purchased and paid for the package via Angie's List and emailed the company from their website. After not getting a response for a few days I called. They answered and said they had not been in the office to check their email (scary). They however scheduled to do the work in two days. I explained that there were a couple of posts that I thought needed replacing and agreed to the price of $125 for each post they replaced. They arrived as planned and promptly backed into and severely bent the neighbor?s mailbox. The first issue was they refused to touch the fence at the back of my yard because they said it was the neighbor?s fence. We explained, that no, it is on our property and needed to be repaired. We have the survey from recently purchasing the house which shows the back fence is on our property but they refused to repair it. The one post I had marked to be replaced they said could be repaired with wood glue which they did and didn't recommend any other posts to be replaced. They adjusted the two gates as expected and time will tell if they will work properly. The biggest issue was that NO pickets were placed even though the package we purchased came with the replacement of at least 10 pickets; and we would have paid to have more replaced. There are clearly at least 10 pickets that need replacing because they are damaged or warped. (If the company is reading this, thepickets still need replacing and we would be happy to have you come replace them as we had paid for.) When they "completed" the job, they left without talking to us. They sort of straightened the neighbor?s mailbox out but it is still bent and leaning (embarrassing). We would never hire this company again and suggest everyone else to be careful before hiring them.

My wife bought a coupon on Groupon for a deck cleaning and sealing back on April 2, 2013. We have been calling the number listed on the coupon (314) 662-6034 since then and have not been able to get a response. We have left several voicemails to call us and provide the service that we paid for but have been unsuccessful in getting a response. We are very disappointed in the service provided (or should I say not provided) and will not recommend this company to anyone. We only paid $99 for the coupon but its $99 that we could have spent on something else worthwhile. Please beware of companies such as these that try to make a quick buck on Groupon and not deliver any services. I wish we would?ve read the reviews here on Angie's List and would not have spent any money on them.

I was very pleased with the service. The work took several days and they worked very hard to complete the job. Hemadesuggestions about what actually needed to be done to repair deck and what my options were. He used really good quality sealant on deck and checked to make sure job was done completely before leaving. The two men that were here were respectful, made a lot of effort not to track anything in the house, made sure they cleaned up the deck and surrounding area.

I truly wasn't very happy with Jablan Fence & General Contracting and I don't remember them giving me a price. I don't think they were really interested in doing the work that needed to be done for my fence. However, they were punctual.

Work was not performed when we originally agreed upon (they were delayed due to rain and other issues) but once they started, they did what the could to get it done as quickly as possible. Sanel was always very courteous and professional. Fence looks great!

We have used Jablan twice and have been very happy with their work and service. The first time we were having trouble having our gate fixed to our satisfaction by the original company that installed the fence. My husband found Jablan on Angie's List and they were able to fix the gate so it would finally work properly. Then this year we wanted to have our very large deck refinished so we called Jablan again. They spent a long time with us going over the procedure and helping us select a color. They power washed the whole deck and railings, patched several weak areas, and put on the fresh deck paint. It took just a little more than 3 days and we are very happy with their work.

I purchased a Big Deal coupon for this provider in the amount of $99. I purchased the coupon with the understanding that the provider would power wash and seal the whole deck for that amount. When I called to make the appointment, the provider explained that the coupon was only good for the power washing of the entire structure but the sealing of only the floor of the deck. And that to complete work, I would be required to pay an additional $200 to $300. I ended up paying for the whole job to be completed and the work done was excellent. I would work with the company again in the future, but I was unhappy about what I felt to be an unclear offer designed to lure in new customers. The overall work done was absolutely an A, but the process was more of a B.

He did a good job. I will be using him again for any future projects. I recommend him to others in the area for their services.

Workers were very conscientious about the quality of the work.

It turned out fine. There were extra charges, but I was prepared for that. There was a lot of rain in the forecast so he power washed in one day and then stained it about a week later. He got the job done. When he told me the extra charge I did not see why it was more complicated then other parts of the deck and I figured it was his way of getting a little extra money.

I called them several times and no one has called me back. I understand that they are busy and may not be able to do the work immediately, but I would have appreciated a phone call letting me know when to expect the work.
