Jablan General Contracting

Bought a discount certificate from Angie's list for cleaning and treating deck. Certificate would only partially cover cost. When Jablan F& C came out and looked at it I felt their estimate to do the rest of the deck was exorbitant. Contacted Angie's list and they were great about getting me a refund on my coupon.

They were very prompt to schedule an appointment for an estimate. The work was scheduled quickly. We had to change dates a few times due to schedules and there were no issues. After the work was done we noticed a few boards were loose. They immediately came out an fixed the problem. This company is very easy to work with.

He may have painted it as it looks more like paint than stain; it’s a terrible color, I’m sure it’s not what I had picked. I asked if this was the best price he could offer and he told me it was the best price he could give me. I then found out this week that he has a Big Deal up for $125 for the same job; which means he wasn't being honest when I asked the prior week if that was the best price he could offer, as Big Deals are set up in advance. I had a check made out to the company and at the end he handed me his drivers license and I asked what it’s for and he said he needed me to make out the check to him personally. I asked why and he said that he just needed me to do it that way. I wrote him the check and put a void on the previous one I'd made out to the company. The Big Deals state that they can't be applied to previous jobs so now I've paid $600 for the service.

I was contacted multiple times to set up an appointment as soon as possible (because I did not return their calls promptly). They showed up on time to powerwash the deck and finished the job on a Sunday because the previous week had been rainy. The yard was spotless when they left and they also painted the basement door to match the deck. The job cost more than I expected because I did not understand how they calculated the square footage. It was worth the extra cost- my deck looks brand new (it's about 15 years old).

It was okay. There were a couple of things we were a bit disappointed with. The scheduling process was a little bit challenging. They started the project then said they would be back the next morning at 8am. I called them at 10am and they had not been there and they explained they would be there that weekend. One of the crew members did wear an offensive t-shirt and they did leave trash in the yard such as candy wrappers and cigarette butts. The job seems to have been done fairly well. There were additional fees because the coupon was for 200 square feet and our deck was about 500 which I did expect.

The service was good overall. They were very quick and cleaned up everything well.

The estimate they provided was more than what we wanted to spend, so we declined to have them do the work.

The experience was great overall! The technicians came out earlier than they thought they could, and were also friendly and nice. For the work that they did, they were reasonably-priced.

Very satisfied and will be using Jablan for other projects in the future.

I did think the price was reasonable for the work they did. It turned out really good. They took their time and the quality of work was really good.

I received a quote from a competitor but their price was less expensive. They were very courteous. At one point there was about four people working on the project. They did a good job. The deck looks nice and we are satisfied with work. They were responsive, showed up on time, and completed work in about a week.

A wholeheartedly dissatisfying experience?I am shocked that I got this level of disservice from an Angie?s List recommendation. The large problems can fall into three areas: timing/scheduling, the job itself, and professionalism. First, the job itself went very poorly. They did not have consistent pricing?on the first trip out, he said it would be $200 extra for the additional work but on the second trip out said it would be $225. In addition, the increased fee was supposed to cover wrapping the metal railings when the deck was stained (this never happened). However, they didn?t stain my deck, THEY PAINTED IT! Other contractors working in my neighborhood (the ones that just finished building my house) noticed the deck, and they said it wasn?t stain at all because it was staying on the surface of the wood, rather than soaking into the wood (like a stain). In addition, they missed a few spots (including the back of the step that is at eye level) and they even painted the steps before finishing the top of the deck. They then proceeded to walk up and down them until the job was finished. I?m no professional painter but even I would know to paint the steps last. He also told me that he applied two coats, but I?m still trying to figure out how three-fourths of the first coat took over 4 hours (on the second trip) and the rest of the first coat and the second coat (on the third trip) took less than two hours. Bottom line: I could have done the job better myself for half the price. Second, it took them 3 weeks to respond, and this was only after repeated calls on our part. I understand that this was in response to a coupon and that demand had increased but it shouldn?t take 3 weeks to get an appointment for them to come out. When they did come out for the first time, they powerwashed the deck (and did a good job) but said they wouldn?t have time to seal it. When they showed up a week later, they didn?t bring enough "stain", so they had to come back a third time to finish the job. I don?t know how this could have happened since they had already been out and saw the actual size of the deck?why wouldn?t you bring enough material to finish the job the first time? This miscalculation caused them not to finish on the second trip, and we had downpours the next day. Their solution was to show up on the following morning and finish the job while the deck was still wet. Once again, I?m not a professional painter, but I know not to paint wet wood. Finally, there is professionalism. Everything about their entire operation screamed ?amateur,? from chasing them down for an appointment, to the sloppy job they did, to letting themselves into my backyard on their last trip without notifying anyone that they were on the property. They might want to be careful with that, since entering someone?s property without being announced is technically trespassing. This wasn?t a deal, it was a disaster. I?ll have to have the entire deck sanded down and let it season until next year before I can attempt to seal it again. If you value anything about your house, keep these amateurs far away from it--this level of buffoonery is totally unacceptable. Oh, and I?ll think twice before accept another offer for a ?great deal? from ?a highly rated company? on Angie?s List.

I had some issues scheduling the appointment. The original appointment was set for October 4th. He called me and advised that he would need to come on the 5th. I called him late in the evening on the 5th because he never showed up and he said it because of the weather. He finally arrived for the estimate on October 6th. For the additional square footage on my deck the pricing was going to be around $800 more expensive. I have requested a refund for the deal.

it was the best power wash ever..

After coming out to do the fence maintenance, Sanel and I spoke about the gate, which really need replaced. He came back the next day and replaced the gate and it looks great, as does the fence maintenance. Thank you!

I tried to dig post holes myself but was unable to because of rocky ground. I called several fencing companies, but none would just dig post holes. I called Jablan and set up an appointment. The owner and two other workers came over when I expected them, and dug the holes by hand. I was extremely pleased with the job they did, and would definitely use them again in the future.

Arrived on time.. Went very well! Two neighbors hired them to do their houses.. Very nice job.

I was very impressed at how Sanel thoroughly evaluated my porch and found issues that he could address. (I had forgotten about the loose rail.) He was prompt in his response to my call (several other Angie's List providers did not return my call) and prompt in visiting for an estimate. He did not make the targeted job date, but called me and arranged for another time. All of this occurred in a about a week's time from the time I made my initial call. He was very professional and personable. I plan to call him for future jobs--fence and patio.

They did a good job, and the technician was incredibly courteous. One minor issue was that he wasn’t going to be able to get the home done within four hours, so I asked how much it would cost to finish up the job. He didn’t speak English, but we called the company to ask, and they quickly and courteously gave us an estimate for the extra labor.. We were very happy with the entire project overall.

I scheduled the appt. two weeks out because of my busy schedule. Of course, it rained that day so the appt. was cancelled. However, they were able to come the very next day to take care of the job. I was VERY pleased with this. I was also VERY pleased with the work. This guy blasted tons of paint off the house and did a beautiful job prepping the surface areas for a future paint job. I was nervous at first because the dude was totally, "No hablo ingles" but he did an awesome job. Thanks, Sanel!!!
