We scheduled an appointment online and received an e-mail confirmation, but no one showed up during the scheduled appt time, and no one called. Twenty minutes after the appt window ended, we called the number and they said there had been a “schedule conflict”. We turned down their offer to reschedule since our time was not valued and there are other businesses to get carpet.
Description of Work: We hoped to have an in-home estimate for new carpet installation.

We had some problems with the dates at first but we got that worked out. Overall, I am very pleased with my floor. They did an excellent job. I am really happy with it. It was vinyl flooring. They had the best price. I had several people come out. They were good. They had a little bit of a problem with scheduling. There was a little bit of a delay but they compensated me for it so I can not complain. They did everything in two days. They came out one day and laid the carpet and there was a delay in the vinyl because they did not have enough in the warehouse. But they also took $500 off my bill for the delay. It was 10 days and they compensated me $50 a day for the delay. I thought the price was good. The representative came out to the house and handled everything. He was on time. Very professional.

Installers. led by Patrick, not only worked incredibly fast, but also did a flawless job! An error was made, but was quickly rectified. Aside from a some difficulty contacting the right person in the company the actual customer service with the company as well as with the installers could not have been better. I could not be more pleased, primarily due to Patrick the installer.

It went well and the job was finished quicker than expected. The only complaint that I had was that the salesman was not as informed about the flooring that would work well with my home and the type of flooring had to be changed after the installation crew came in to inspect the subfloor. They did bring the original flooring that I purchased but I was told by the salesman that if I was not happy that they would change the order at any time, which I had to do that day. They were able to complete the order and returned the following day with my new choice. Also the companies 50% off sale was only for a limited type of samples and we ended up getting a flooring that was not on sale. However the other flooring he was able to sell at a comparable price. I'm sure it was a type of switch and bait but from the prices he quoted we did end up getting some other discounts (veterans, senior citizen, same day contract and quick installation). I did get another company's estimate (which the salesman recommended) and the cost was similar. I was very pleased with the crews work.
Description of Work: I had the flooring replaced on the first level of my home. They had to remove the old rugs, prep the flooring and install a vinyl planking with quarter round. They removed and replaced all of the furniture.

They were very good. Their salesman was very nice. The scheduling was a nightmare. The installers were very nice. The salesman came on time but the installers didn't come when they were supposed to. The salesman was very professional and excellent. I will not use them again because I don't live in St. Louise anymore and I live in an apartment now. Two people came to install it. It took about two hours to complete.

Ihave used Empire in the past, in another state and I was pleased with their service. Here in Missouri, I was thrilled with the end result, the cost, the installation and the entire process. I'd had the hardwood upstairs refinished by a different company, but was looking for a laminate alternative to replace the very inexpensive and unattractive flooring in the basement. It really wasn't pretty down there. One room had carpet and the less said about that the better. The rest had very cheap laminate that I was able to remove with my bare hands. It had to go. I knew that Empire offered economical and fast solutions and since the top floor was refinished, I set my sights on a bargain for the basement. The end result didn't look bargain basement at all. First there was a great sale, and I had a lovely meeting with a personable estimator who didn't pressure me at all. She was delightful. I have to admit, the feminist in me was happy to see a woman consultant in a male dominated field, but she knew her stuff and had all the figures at hand too. But the high praise goes to our installation crew from Jensen sub-contractors for Empire. They were punctual, courteous and willing to go above and beyond. Our driveway had been blocked by a storage unit drop-off, necessitating something of a hike down a sloped drive. Not only did my crew not complain about it, they barely mentioned it. I just gave them access to a dolly I owned and that's all that was said about a major inconvenience for them. They hauled trash and unspeakably mistreated carpet and padding up an incline without comment or complaint. They did great work and my basement is transformed entirely. I was painting upstairs all day and could hear the guys talking to each other. They were courteous and respectful even to each other. They worked so hard, and would check in with me to make sure everything fit my specifications. There were some tricky cutouts around a water heater and transitions into a utility area. These guys did great work. Cleaned up afterward. Hauled every bit of trash and honestly cared whether or not I was pleased with the result. One of the crew even shaved down a door that was sticking. Something I had been told was unlikely to be part of the service and would only happen "if they have time". They treated every stumbling block and challenge on this install as if it was par for the course. Cheerfully and professionally. the end result was something special. Moving and construction is always a difficult process. These guys made it easier. Without any fuss, any complaints or any drama, they just made it happen. Fast and with high quality results. It was a nightmare and robbery without a gun. When laying kitchen floor they bent the leg to my stove, broke the grill on bottom of refrigerator, shot a nail in wall with nail gun and loosened the door on my brand new dishwasher. And the tile in bathroom was laid terrible. Grout filling in places that tile should have been cut correctly. I contacted the company to complain and they sent the same people out that did the damages to confirm and correct the damages. That did not work at all, it was all denial. Then it was time to lay my dining room floor and after telling the company do NOT send the same people, guess what, they did, So all the while they were laying the hickory hardwood in my dining room they were saying how the boss said to be very careful with it that it was expensive flooring, as they were throwing their heavy metal tools down on it. They only used a box at a time and layer some faded damaged planks down. they also chipped a few in different places. They were laying their tools on my new dining room table and I also paid for much more than what they had used and they DID NOT leave what I did pay for but took it all with them. The boxes of hardwood and tiles. As I said it was a nightmare and it was a costly one at that. I was going to have my living room done in hardwood to match dining room but not now. You pay for much more product than what they use and they do not send reputable contractors.
Description of Work: sub contractors were sent to my home to install flooring. They started with Kitchen and two bathrooms and at later time came back to install hardwood in the dining room.

The installers were fabulous. Professional, courteous and did a great job. But dealing with the corporate office was nothing short of painful. After receiving confirmatory emails for installation, 2 days before our appointment, we received a call that carpet could not be installed on the date as planned. After several calls the install date was rescheduled for a much less convenient time. The corporate offices doesn't seem to know what the local offices are doing. Very difficult to get straight answers. The sales woman who came to our house was nice enough, but didn't seem too interested in gaining our business. The work was done as the contact stated and the work was well done. But, I will never use Empire again solely on the lack of customer service and confusion over install dates and the lack of communication and good information. i wasn't sure what to expect when I called for a consolation but was was needing some quick flooring installation and so i though I would give them a try. The first guy who came in was quite nice, and not pushy at all. But,.. he began by suggesting the 450sq ft area I was wanting to have either engineered wood or 3/4and quot;hardwood flooring installed in would run me give or take about $10,000. I thankfully had already priced a few other options and knew that, depending on the supply costs chosen it should run between $2500-3500. I mentioned this to him and told him my budget. although amused by my low budget he tried to work with me and then proceeded to show me samples of wood, explaining the price categories and which ones would be in stock etc. (just an FYI with Empire Flooring.. they will not under any circumstances tell you the per-sq ft price of product vs installation) When I asked for the engineered flooring, he kept avoiding the subject and finally told me he didn't have samples. I had clearly mentioned this when i made the appointment, but somehow he had not brought them and then followed with telling me he that he wouldn't even know the prices if he had the samples as they have tuesday sales meetings where they get the updated pricing lists.. this was on a monday.. I found this to be very odd to tell me as i was looking at the hardwood and there didn't seem to be an issue telling me the prices of that at the moment... he finally came up with a price just under 4000 for the entire job in solid hardwood, but then told me that they couldn't just put the floor right down and would have to put a new layer under the hardwood and that would cost me even more, and he couldn't be sure how much given that he had only seen a bit of the floor under the carpet (i would understand this , but he was the only one out of 4 contractors that found this to be a large financial issue, and added it to my cost as an unknown price to be found out at the end of the job.) I did not feel comfortable with this. the company i did go with had all the same info as empire in making the bid, and once install was completed they did not in fact have to do anything special to my floors and found it quite interesting that empire would say that they would have had to do anything like adding in a new sub floor covering ok.. so.. i've had one sales guy come in and give me a bit on sold hardwood.. but.. i'm looking to go lower cost here and want a bid on engineered wood as well which this guy was unable to give me. he told me he would call after his and quot;salesand quot; meeting the next day. I never heard from him for 2 or 3 days and at this point i didn't even think twice as i had already decided against using them. I got a followup call from the customer service center at empire to see how the meeting had gone and explained to them that although very nice, this guy left me with several questions, and never called me back like he had said he would. they agreed that that needed to be fixed and they would send a and quot;topand quot; sales guy out who could make more desisions on price and hopefully give me more info, and possibly even a better price than the first guy. I said and quot;okand quot;... this guy was able to come the next day. The new guy was more of a salesmen and much more pushy, but not too bad.. just not as easy to talk with as the first one. He did however have samples of both hardwood and engineered wood. Again.. he began by measuring and making comments kinda to feel me out on my budget first .. on the line of it costing $10,000 .. again.. i explained i was going for low cost given I am getting ready to list the house for sale and wanted something nice looking and sturdy, but not too expensive. when we sat down to talk more he gave me a couple of bids.. one was about $4700 for the hardwood floors and about $5000 for the engineered wood! I explained to him that the guy last week was closer to $4000 and he said he just couldn't do that.. at this point i was not a happy camper.. he said if I had gone with they previous guy i would have gotten the price lower, but now i must go with his bid if I want to go with them. (he was always very polite and found a way to try to explain it .. but i just wasn't buying it).. when I asked why the engineered wood was more, he simply told me.. and quot;engineered wood costs more, that's a fact. it takes more work to make it, so it costs more as a productand quot; .. i explained to him he was actually incorrect and that it is actually the less expensive option and that that was in fact the reason for it being made in the first place. he chuckled and simply said i was wrong and if I wanted the engineered wood.. i would ALWAYS pay more for it, no matter who i went with. I gave up and didn't feel it was worth it to argue with him and said goodbye at this point. I feel that although i expected them to be a bit higher due to the whole and quot;next dayand quot; thing.. but .. it does concern me as they don't give the wood time to sit and acclimate to your house before install in order to get it in within 1-2 days and on top of it all.. i was given two bids for the same job at more than $1000 difference in price.. and when confronted about it.. they simply said and quot;too badand quot; I can't speak for their quality of work, but i can speak for their sales and not quite honesty.. or knowledge of the product.. it could be either... but.. as far as the experience i had, i would not use them again. I used a local flooring company that went above and beyond, did an amazing job.. and although they took a few days longer, i know they were attentive to every detail.. and even fixed the door handle on my front door for me AND came in under their bid at $3400! (as you can see.. i did not go with the cheapest at 2400.. but went with the one i felt would to the most honest, best quality job for their price.. and i feel that i did in-fact make the right choice by not choosing empire)
Description of Work: I had them come in to make a bid (actually 2 bids) on some new hardwood and /or engineered flooring i was going to have put in but chose to not go with them due to several reasons cost salesmanship honesty and/or lack of knowledge of their product overall feel of value for what i was getting trust that the price bid would be the actual total on the invoice at the end. they were one of 4 companies i had bid for the job

I was able to get the carpeting almost immediately, within the next day or two. They moved the furniture and took away the old carpeting, too. They were very professional and they did a professional job. With the wooden blinds, they measured and installed everything correctly. I didn't have any problems!
Description of Work: Several years ago, I used them a couple of times for bathroom and kitchen tile. Most recently, they installed carpeting in the family room. I also installed blinds in the kitchen and laundry room.

e, There were a few problems, mostly with the condition of my floors, they were uneven .They installers were great a took care to put down a great looking floor. The salesperson was nice ,and took care of us when we had to change laminate to carpet,because our floors were not level. I'm very pleased with how it all came out.

Overall the experience with Empire Today was very good. The initial sales call was handled efficiently and pleasantly. And though the salesperson did not return our call when requesting more information, it was during the last few days of a big sales drive and he responded promptly after our second call. He was patient when we were deciding what we wanted and in which rooms, and very helpful toward making that decision.The installers were pleasant, efficient, and hardworking. When they were presented with a problem in pulling up our old vinyl flooring, they discussed the options with us and suggested which would be most economical for us. Though it was a long day, we felt that the installers were making good use of their time and doing their best for us.
Description of Work: Empire Today installed vinyl flooring in our kitchen and laundry room. They also installed carpet in our family room, stairs, and upstairs hallway.

They were wonderful. I was going to have one bathroom done and then they told me that the size of the sheets that the floor came in, they would have enough to use them for the second bathroom. So I didn't have to pay extra for the materials. I rate them very highly. I would use them in the future if I needed to.

They were excellent and they did carpeting through out my house and they did a very good job. They came on time, did it quickly and we have had no problem with it. The carpet is holding up very well. I don’t remember how much I paid them but I got good value for what I paid. They were very good. If I need them in the future I will use them.

I did not like them and I did not use them. They had a limited selection of carpeting and they did not give me their best price, but when I said that I had a better quote then they were willing to negotiate the price.

The man arrived on time with some carpet samples. He measured the room and gave me a price; which included carpeting, padding, and installation. He would not break down for me for the cost of the carpet per square foot/ square yard. Therefore, I was not able to compare his price with the cost of other carpet companies. I was not happy with him telling me I had to make a decision that day so he could install it the next day. So, I felt pressure to make up my mind. I was not ready to make that expensive decision during the initial visit. He was annoyed that I had him out there for just an estimate and not a final decision. I was not told in advance that this was how the company does business. If I would have known this I would not have timed it like that.

After she finally contacted the supervisor or manager, he gave her the amount of $10K to furnish the flooring and install it and move furniture. I'd already had a bid from a flooring company for the same thing (same exact product) for just under $3K, and told her that there was no way I would pay that amount. She explained that to him and he dropped the price immediately to $5K, which in turn, I said thanks, but no thanks. I see on their TV advertisements they guarantee the lowest price... that's funny AND a lie (deceptive advertising, at a minimum, but it sure sounds good)! We've decided to wait awhile to go forward, but most likely it'll be the flooring company that gets our business. I believe they are changing their name shortly though and am not sure if another company is buying them out. Buyer beware.
Description of Work: The young woman was on-time, professional and took measurements with no problem. We have an unusual family room in that it has stone on three of the walls. There is no baseboard now as we have carpet at present and she wasn't sure how that would be handled (neither was the flooring company installer). She had to call in to get pricing; they were not answering her calls, and she had made about 6 calls to various people, leaving messages, none of which were being responded to by them. (I know that can happen).

It went well. Someone came to measure and give an estimate. They did what I asked, and it looked neat and efficient. It took them all day to finish.
Description of Work: They recarpeted 3 bedrooms, a hallway, and 2 sets of stairs.

The installation was just outstanding. Ive had flooring and I know when flooring goes "bad".
Description of Work: They installed the new ceramic floor over the existing floor, and in a part of the laundry room, there was a little repair and they did it without me asking them to do it.

The sales representative was a little to high pressure when setting installation date. I understand it is next day installation but being a single person with a full time job that is not always possible and he did not seem to understand I just couldn't call somebody to be there for me. After much debate and my frustration he finally set up a Saturday installation for me. The installation itself went quick and painless, except the installers were an hour late.
Description of Work: Recently purchased a home and had the living room and bedroom carpeted. Sale of carpet and installation only did not have to move furniture or old carpet.
