Good. Signed up for Sears warranty, until I decided to cancel, since it was a high monthly premium. The cancelling agent and the sign up agent had completely different stories of what money went for what. Monthly premium doesn't cover any repairs!!! I am out of almost $400 for a $140 repair!!!

I wasn't here. They actually ran behind on their first appointment and they called and we set something up. I have a detached garage because I live in the city here and I just left that open for them and I came home and it was all prepared. They were flexible on getting it done the day they were supposed to. I called some other places and it was going to run $300-$350 and up so I went ahead and went with Sears. They installed basically the same thing I had which had lasted around 20 years. I would recommend them to people.

The tech did not show up. He also did not call me. I called Sears at about 5 o'clock and they rescheduled me for Saturday. I asked them for the cell phone number of the serviceman for Saturday and they refused to give it to me. I asked them what assurance they could give me that the same thing would not happen on Saturday and they said they could not give me any reassurance. By the time the call ended it was after 5 pm, so I could not contact a real repairman. This morning, after rejoining Angie's List, I called John Suellentrop and he fixed everything this afternoon. What a difference!
Description of Work: I called Sears on Monday. They told me they would be at my home between noon and 4 pm on Wednesday. The tech did not show up. He also did not call me.

We just bought a brand new Whirlpool Gas cook top and got it installed in Late March 2014. We did get 5 years extended warranty (very expensive compare to Home depot and Lowes for the same product)After 2 weeks the Igniter got stuck and kept on making noise, I reset the igniter and it did not work but on 2nd try after few hours I was able to reset it.Next day it again started clicking, so I called sears and made an appointment, before coming to our house the technician called and my wife told him that it is NOT making noise at the moment but it need to be seen as it does, he said if it is not making noise when I come then the visit will be not under warranty and we will charge you for the trip.so. my wife cancelled the appointment. within a day or so it started again.Why Sears charge so much more then their competition and still does not provide the service.Why the maintenance department people are always rude?Why you want to charge more money if the appliance is working at that moment of visit but not working all the time, it should be checked.A brand new appliance should be working well.I am very disappointed in the service and warranty department of Sears, I will do my best not to buy any thing from Sears and request all my family and friends to do same. Description of Work: Repair dryer. Appointment was set for 1-4 on a thursday. At 3:50, got automated call stating I needed to call in to reschedule because repairman would not be available that day. Rescheduled for Fri. Showed up at 3:30. Replaced one part for $30 and charged $200 for call and labor. Was gone in 25 minutes. Tried dryer that evening with no success. No heat. Called to get service man back based on 30 day guarenteed. No appointments available for another week.

That was a disaster. One part of the business doesn't know what the other part is doing. They come out twice to my house when I was told they had the part but it looks like they have some new computer system and no one is getting good communication across the board. Every time you call, you're on the phone for over a half hour of waiting because nobody knows what's going on and they keep transferring you around. The technicians are always fine when they come out and seems to know what they're doing. Because of all these side stuff and ordering cheap parts that break as soon as they're put in, it's been a nightmare. I don't know how they're managing to stay in business like that. At least they managed to get the microwave working but then they broke a fan and that has been the worse of it. The technicians have all been respectful and showed up on time.
Description of Work: Sears is trying to fix the microwave since October.

Our stove went out. We have a service agreement with Sears. The repair man came out and knew what the problem was right away. He ordered the parts. He also informed us that we shouldn't be using the oven or range top. It could catch on fire. He unplugged it. The parts arrived a few days after he was here. They are coming out immediately to fix the oven. The man was very knowledgeable and very friendly.

I know it's convenient to have Sears repair stuff they sell you but if you can avoid using Sears Home Services - do it. Every time I have used them something has gotten messed up. Either they've been late, broken something else, needed to order a part—even though I told them what the issue was ahead of time—not put it together correctly, or not fixed what they were supposed to fix. THIS time takes the cake. I am a self-employed person trying to sell my aunt's house 1 hour away from where I live. We had to install a new dishwasher. The new dishwasher doesn't drain correctly, so I called and scheduled an appointment for a repair since it was under warranty. The technician was scheduled to arrive "between 12 PM and 4 PM" last Tuesday. I left my house at 11 AM and arrived by 12PM. I sat around all day waiting for the technician. He never arrived and never called. At 4:30 PM I called Sears to inquire and was told I would be rescheduled for today between 12 PM and 4 PM. I said that I needed a closer time-frame, that every hour spent away from my business cost me money and that I'd already wasted one whole day this week. They told me to call early today, which I did. After some back and forth I was told I was LAST on his route for today, so maybe around 3:15 PM. LAST!? After what they'd done Tuesday I should have been FIRST. In addition, he'll come and probably tell me he needs to order a part which will mean doing this all over again in a few days.SEARS HOME SERVICES IS TERRIBLE. Very unprofessional, not helpful, not caring about the customer. This is the last time I will ever buy anything from Sears or have their unprofessional repairmen fix anything.

I liked the Sears I was going to because it was small, and you didn't get lost. The other Sears locations have grown so large, I get lost in them. I know the service people are certified to work on what ever they have. They know what I want them to do, and they are good!
Description of Work: I used Sears to repair my gas grill, 3 or 4 years ago. The Sears I used, has since closed, and I have to find another one. The one that closed was about 3 miles from my home.

The staff was helpful at the sears store and easily adapted to my requests and sales needs. The dishwasher was able to be installed the next day. The employee that installed the dishwasher was on time, professional and did a good job. The quality of the dishwasher is excellent. We chose sears to buy a dishwasher because they are a reliable store.

This was done through our home warranty service. The $60 we paid was our deductible. The technician was thorough and nice but I think he could have been more thorough because there were things that were wrong with the dishwasher that I did not think to ask about when he was here. It seems like he just came out to fix the specific problem but there were things that were obviously wrong with it that he either did not notice or mention so that was kind of disappointing. He repaired everything that we specifically called about perfectly and it was great. He was really nice and I am not necessarily complaining but I think he could have been more thorough. I will use him again in the future.
Description of Work: I used a subcontractor from Sears to fix my dishwasher. He fixed a valve that let more water into the unit.

I had excellent service at Sears on purchasing my appliances. They were able to match prices on the internet, which I had never heard of that before. The sales lady was very good. She gave me her direct number and would call me back promptly with answers to my questions.

Did not show-up for appointment, we had to call to reschedule (claimed they called and got a busy signal). Did not show-up for 2nd appointment. We called and canceled. Wasted 8 hours waiting for these people. Would not use again, nor will we purchase an appliance from them again.

Sears have their own subcontractors. When I bought the hot water heater I paid for the installation as a part of the purchase I don’t know if I would use them again. They are alright. I used their subcontractor for installation because came through Sears. They did a respectable job. The municipality inspector came out and said it was fine. Sears price was better than the other company. I bought the energy efficient water heater but I could not get hold of anybody from the water heater company to get a tax credit on it. Nobody told me if I could get a tax credit on it or not. I had to set up the appointment for them to come out and install the water heater.
Description of Work: I bought a hot water heater from Sears and their subcontractor installed it for me.
