I have never written a review before, so obviously this hasn't been a good situation.. I had a custom home built 15 years ago, all Pella Windows.. About 18 months ago, had a bad seal in one of the windows (under warranty for parts)... They said due to Covid couldn't service the repair, I said no problem I'll call back.... Over a year later I asked for the parts to be installed, they said this St Louis Franchise does not service the installation... I called Pella Corporate and they said each Franchise can make their own decisions, I said Corporate could control that... Asked Corporate why would I ever purchase or recommend anyone to Pella??

Pella windows were great, from the time I signed a contract, to when the last window was installed. The men doing the installation were prompt, courteous and very respectful of our family and home. The windows look and function great as promised.

For the most part, ok. The first installer team did a real good job but the sidelites for the entry door were not what was ordered. This problem was brought to the attention of the representative that came to do the final measurements and to confirm the order. He was to notify Pella about the issue. I talked to the sales person and she assured me the order would be corrected. It was not, there was a 6 week delay on getting the correct sidelites. At that time the work was completed. When asked about why the original storm door was not re-installed I was told Pella would not install a used storm door on a new product, They did not return the removed storm door. Now I have to pay for a new storm door and either install it myself or pay someone else to install it. The reason for some of the ratings below is the installers were good but the support staff was lacking.

I received a quote to replace 2 patio doors and a front door. For a total of about 35 thousand dollars. I am honestly wondering how can they be in business? How can they realistically expect anyone to pay this much for replacing 3 doors? Even if they are of the highest quality, their prices sound way out of line, to the extent of making me write a review, even though they did not actually do an installation. It is just to warn that it might just be a waste of time to make an appointment with them.

I found the sales rep David Ferrone very professional and courteous. He knew his product and was patient when explaining the process of replacing and entry door. I would recommend Pella in Maryland Heights to friends and family.
Description of Work: Sales Rep David Ferrone come out to have a look at my entry way door that had warped and needed replacing. He showed me brochures of the products they sell and install, he measured the door and explained how the work would be done. However, once he realized I wanted a product they do not sell at this time, he recommended two contractors that do. He wrote down their names and numbers for me.

We moved into a new home last year, and started to have issues almost immediately with our Pella doors. One in particular (our main traffic door) has a lock mechanism that jams, won't open/close sometimes without a struggle, and has a lower bolt that drops and scapes the floor when the door is opened. The doors are at least 5-10 years old, so while it's annoying to have to fix the issue, it isn't necessarily a reason for a bad review. Here's the problem: 1. We weren't aware that there was any specific protocol to handling Pella repairs, so we originally contacted a local door company come out to identify the issue and make the repair. They told us after inspecting the doors that they were not able to readily get the supplies, etc. from Pella (due to Pella's internal process) and that we needed to contact them directly. 2. Initially getting ahold of Pella was a pain (lots of 'phone trees' and different numbers). The person I reached first noted bluntly that it could "be awhile" until someone even called me back because it was a "busy time of the year." 3. Someone did call me back the next day. That's the good news. The bad news - she told me that we had to first make an appointment with an inspector who could provide an estimate. That appointment would be " at least four weeks" away and would cost $100. The inspector could not order parts or start the repair process at that time, and the cost of the 'inspection' would not apply to any repair. 4. AFTER the inspector arrives in +/4 weeks, then it would "likely be another 4 weeks" until we could get a Pella repair person to come out and fix the doors...if we accepted the estimate and the door(s) can be repaired. According to Pella, that's 8 weeks - if we're lucky - before anyone would be here to even attempt the repair. We move a lot and have completed a number of remodeling projects. We have purchased Pella windows before for a different house -- but I was not aware there was this type of service monopoly on their materials and this level of backlog. I guess we should consider us lucky that the door isn't falling off the hinges right now and in need of emergency repair. FYI to my Angie's List compadres who might be considering a Pella purchase.
Description of Work: Nothing - yet. Hopefully something in eight weeks or so.

I'm writing this review now (7 years after the job) because of what I consider poor customer service after the sale. When we replaced our windows, we paid a premium price for their "invisible" screens. They are really nice and nearly invisible as they claimed. However, we got a dog 2 yrs after the installation and he promptly shredded 4 of them to pieces. Bad dog! We sadly lost our dog 1 year ago and I had decided it was time to get the screens fixed. When I contacted Pella, I was quoted a price of nearly $700 to repair 4 screens!!!! I made sure to emphasize that the frames were fine, only the screening material was needed. They apparently won't just sell me the material but want to remake the whole screens! I went out and spent $40 on the best match of screening material I could find and a handy little tool to secure the stuff that holds the screen in the frame. It took me 15 minutes per frame to cut the material and secure it in the frame. I would have liked to have matching screens in my living room, but I won't mind when I remember how much money I saved. I also won't use Pella again for my windows.

We got bids from 3 companies for replacing all the windows. This one from Pella was very professional, and Jake answered all my questions. He was patient and went through a few iterations of the bids, and did a careful job of assessing our house. We got a detailed bid that showed diagrams of all the windows, and he was helpful in suggesting what type of windows to get. In the end, we got windows from a different company, which was the one that my husband preferred. I actually wanted to go with the Pella windows. I thought that Jake was great.

The salesman came out and took a lot of time explaining the products and options. The windows are unusual in shape and this caused some concern. Eventually, he gave us a price based on the closest match he could find in the computer program. He asked us to follow up by coming to the showroom to see the product in full windows. When we went to the showroom, however, they did not have examples of fixed vinyl windows to show us. Nor were they sure what type of arch it was. It took consultations with several people to determine it. They said they would have to get back to us with the cost estimate. The manager asked if we wanted to have an installer come out and measure. Since this usually involves a deposit, we said no since we didn't really have a price to base a decision on. He said that they would do it without a deposit so that they could determine the exact type of arch and give us a better price. He stated that it could be less than the original quote of $8,500. As it turns out, the salesman was completely wrong. Pella could not make the vinyl window we were quoted at all. Their only option was to go to their Architect Series at a cost of $21,334. We had planned to use Pella. Their price was slightly higher but their reputation made up for it. But they were not actually able to provide the product quoted. We wasted several weeks waiting for appointments and estimates that far exceeded the original.

The initial meeting to discuss options went well. I was impressed by the quality of Pella's products. A detailed estimate was given to me that day at my home. I also went to the store/office to see the products in person. I would have gone with Pella except that the price was considerably higher than all of the other bids.

The windows are okay but nothing special for the price.. The installation was a little sloppy and they forgot to make one screen. It took 6 weeks to get a screen to us. This is the third time I have used Pella and each time I have been less impressed. The first window I loved but I think that this will be my last.

The local Pella store set the appointment for a Saturday, Jake showed on time and was very professional. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations that would best suit the requirements we set forth. His no pressure manner both during the presentation and after was both professional and appreciated. We wanted the time to make certain we were buying the best product for our need, that research took a time. After reviewing consumer reports, Angie's list and the BBB, we purchased the entry and patio doors as well as the replacement windows as presented by Jake.

/It took 2 days for the work to be completed. The worker's were very professional and did an excellent job! One of the windows had a broken part but was fixed as soon as the part was available. We did not have to pay the final portion of our bill until everything was completed to our satisfaction. I have nothing but praise for Pella.

I used them because they were running a promotion and they wound up being only $200 more than the other company I got a bid from. They are one of the top of the line door and window companies in the United States. They have an outstanding national reputation and it is well deserved. Their products are top of the line. I did have an issue with them, which to be honest with you I was not going to go out and do a review on them, because I did have some issues that were beyond the local company's control. There are three doors in the slider and I ordered a special kind of tinted glass and when the door came, only one of the three sliding doors had that glass in it, the other had a different color glass. So they had to order replacements for those two, which they ordered right away, they came and they slopped them out and except for timing it was a non-issue to me. They certainly made good on the mistake that was made at the factory with no problem whatsoever. Their prices are on the higher side, just like Andersen Windows would be, they are very expensive but it depends upon what you are willing to pay for the quality that you are getting and I do not think that they are overpriced for what you are receiving in terms of a product. They are a very thoroughly professional cooperation.

i had been looking for the perfect door for 2.5 years. i had certain requirements that had to be met before i would commit. one company had been to my house 3 times and boatloads of phone and emails and they could just not answer my questions or concerns. then i went to Pella in Sunset Hills, MO. i met Mike Galba there and he then became my sales rep. he could answer every question i had. he came to my house to measure the doors and write up the bid. it took a short amount of time. he gave me very detailed procedures of how the process worked from him ordering the door, who would be calling me and why, all the way to the installation. I had an excellent installer, who would ask me which way i preferred something rather than assuming. what a blessing that is. because i can tell you 90% of the time, if they assume or guess my opinion, it is wrong. Sam the installer never did that. everyone was courtesy and pleasant to work with. yes the doors are a bit more expensive, but after 2.5 years of research, i can tell you 'you get what you pay for'. the initial doors i was looking to purchase did not have the quality and features that pella doors do, and they were only a little cheaper. i plan to go back to pella for some windows and wish now i had went to them when i replaced the majority of my windows. i truly regret now not doing that. but for the 2 windows remaining, it will be pella without a doubt. i love my doors. everyone comments on how on great the doors look. also everyone loves how the Pella french door for the basement transformed the whole look and makes it looks classy and elegant. if your looking for a door and a sales rep, go to Pella and ask for Mike Galba.

Becuase of Pella's installation quality reputation, we paid about 20% more for Pella windows than a competitors. Their workmanship was outstanding We couldn't feel better about that choice. Their work was so clean we didn't even have to touch up paint around the inside of the windows after they were finished. Also, one of the windows cracked a couple weeks after they were installed. They replaced it expeditiously; no questions asked.
Description of Work: New vinyl windows were installed throughout our home. Two of those were very large custom windows. We received lower prices but upon interviewing previous customers we learned that although the competiive product quality was acceptable, they were rarely happy with the installation quality.

Our former sales rep was no longer with the company, so we were passed to someone else. This rep just can't be bothered with customers. She told us to just give her the measurements over the phone and she'd give us a ballpark price. When I said that we would prefer that she come out and look at the job since there were some peculiarities with the windows in question, she gave us an appt a week later. The day before the appt, she called and cancelled, and told us once again just to measure the windows ourselves. I wonder: has the quality of the product degraded along with the quailty of the customer service?
