They came to the door on July 16th, and said they were doing a promotion. That we'd get an entire security system for only the activation fee of $99.95 and then $47.95 a month. By doing this promotion, people would see their sign and call and buy their plan. He said the entire house would be secure. We asked if that included the windows and he said yes.They installed the system that evening and we found that the motion detector would only cover a small portion of the house, leaving other vital areas unprotected. There was nothing put on any of the windows.- just the doors. We called the man and he came back the next morning and we challenged him. He said we misunderstood him. WRONG! We know what he said and that is why we asked him several questions about the windows before making our decision. He said oh no, that would be too expensive, so" these paper stickers you put on the window are the deterrent." We could not believe our ears. He said he would install an additional motion sensor at no cost to us, so more of the house would be covered. The installer was to come the next morning, the 18th, to move the one detector to a better place and have the second detector to install. When he did not arrive a the scheduled time, we gave him an additional hour before calling. The district manager said the tech had just left and he'd give us a "courtesy call". I laughed at that and told him it would have been courteous to call to say you were running late in the first place. Well, he called about 15 minutes later to say he'd be here in 1-1/2 hours; that he knew nothing to the fact that he was to be here at 8:30am., and that he had just been texted our address. We said fine. During that time, we decided we'd had enough and that it just was not what the Rep had said it was going to be in the first place. We had a 3 day cancellation date, which was a deadline of midnight, July19th, to cancel. We went to the bank and had them fax the cancellation to ADT. The banks machine showed it was successful relay. We waited 20 minutes and called ADT. They said they did NOT have it. So, we went to the UPS store and paid to have the cancellation form sent and this time got a paper verification that they had received it. When the tech called for directions, I told him "fine, you can just pick it all up". He said he could not do that, as he'd have to have a work order to do that. We had not heard anymore from them until we called their Springfield office today, the 20th. When we got no answer, we called their Knoxville, Tennessee, main office. The Custormer Service Quality Control man wanted to know exactly why we had cancelled and we told him. He offered to come himself and put window sensors on all the windows and charge the Rep for the cost. We told him NO, we've had enough of them. To send in a work order to pick up the equipment. Finally after talking for over 30 minutes, I got him to understand removal of the equipment was the only answer we'd accept.
