Reed’s Plumbing & Excavating

Had been warned by an acquaintance but hired anyway. Unsure if it was workman, or office, but along the way was grossly over billed. Several very civil conversations did not help. Simply turned into a he said/she said. The best we can do is spread the word.

I called Reed's Plumbing on Monday morning because I had no hot water. I bought my house in May of 2015 and this was my first problem with the hot water heater. The repairman arrived in a timely manner and relit my hot water heater. He observed it for about 15 minutes and it stayed lit. I paid him the $90 service charge minus a 5% senior discount. Early that evening, I did not have hot water. I relit the hot water heater. The same thing kept happening. I called Reed's plumbing on Tuesday and was told they would have the repairman call me. He did not. I called back on Wednesday and they said they would send a repairman out again and I would have to pay another $90 service call. I told them not to bother. I found a much better and more knowledgeable repairman at a reasonable price. DON'T CALL REED'S PLUMBING!

Reed's was very prompt with their service and I am very pleased with the results. The trench at the deepest point was nearly 10 feet deep. When they filled the trench the result was very rocky and not smooth at all. The backhoe driver said to give it a couple of weeks to settle and then request they come back out to compact and smooth the area plus reinstall my clothesline pole that had to be removed to install the line. I requested yesterday afternoon for them to come out and finalize the job. They were here at 8:30 this morning. The site looks great, my clothesline pole is installed. In addition, Reed's hauled off a brush pile from my yard without my asking.

They were excellent. They worked out a way to save my driveway which would’ve really increased the price of the job and also the length of the job. They had to completely rethink how my sewer line was done from the way that it was originally put into the sewer in the 1970s. From my house all the way to the box where it led into the main sewer line, there was only 2 feet of drop in almost 300 feet, so they moved where it fed into the sewer line into a point where it dropped slightly more so that we could get 4 feet of drop in the line where there were spots that didn’t have any drop for 10-12 feet before. They came out the same day and they were here for 2 days straight.

The plumber asked questions and looked around in the yard. He pulled up the concrete thigns in the yard covering my septic and the lateral lines. Concluded that I may need to get my septic pumped and that if that didn't fix it, it might be a vent problem. He then informed me that I was being charged $85/hour since he left springfield and continued the clock until he returned back to springfield. My bill was $121.13 for 20ish minutes of his time.

We were attempting to replace the dryer vent connection from the dryer to the connection to the crawl space due our feeling that it was clogged. When we took off the dryer vent connection to the floor vent, there was water in it. We became alarmed at the amount of water in the clogged lint, so we thought that we had better call a plumber. My father-in-law had used Reed's recently and was satisfied with their services. In contacting them on a Saturday afternoon, they offered the option to wait until Monday morning which would reduce the rate by half and they would also be able to obtain the proper connection to service the vent. They arrived on time on Monday. They replaced not only the dryer connection but the connection from the floor to the crawl space and to the outside discharge exit. For all the work that they performed the charge was $106! Not only were we thrilled at the job that they did, but to only charge $106 for almost two hours of work was exceptional. Dryer is working better than it ever has, now that the connection has been replaced. Highly recommend Reed's Plumbing.

Bill, the service man was very polite and explained everything, also gave me info on items that needed repaired. The best thing is its a company that has been in business forever and they treat you with respect, also if you need to contact the company you can pick up the phone and actually talk to someone. "Harry" from Reed's plumbing, responded quickly, assed the situation, replaced the toilet mechanism and re-plumbed the water feed, He worked quickly and efficiently, was pleasant and extremely helpful. The work was done very well and a a very reasonable cost, especially in spite of the fact that it was after normal working hours.

They arrived on time, and immediately set to work in the cold mid November rain ripping the old plumbing from under the house. I felt badly and constructed a tarp lien to against the house to protect them and crawl space acess from rain and water pooling in the crawl space. The next day it continued to rain. I really thought they would postpone the work until the rain abated, but They worked as scheducled. I do have considerable plumbing experience but due to health problems could not do this job for my 80 year old aunt. I crawled under the house to inspect their work. It was all top notch. Lines were all pitched properly, suspended properly, and installed to code. The above the floor rough in was very well secured and properly placed, which makes fixture maintenance and replacement easy and fast. The water line sizing and take offs were again all done to code to insure good flow and pressure. Every one that worked on the project from Reeds were fast and accurate with their appointed parts of the job. They used the new Freeze proof Pex water lines and had all the fast new tooling to install PEX which sped up the completion of the job considerably. Howard was the lead Master Plumber on the job and noted a floor joist that had been cut by a previous plumbing service and never repaired. I purchased floor joist material and Howard repaired the damage for a very small additional fee. Howard also discovered a huge leak in a rusted out HVAC plenum that distribute heat and cooling throughout the home. I called the HVAC company that installed a new system 5 months earlier, but they were unable to look at it until the next week. When the furnace was removed, the plenum sits below it and the HVAC dealer workmen would have had clear view of the rusted out plenum, and could have reported the defect to the home owner and repaired it for extra revenue and done so much less expensively while the furnace was removed. From my perspective gross negligence by the installing HVAC dealer. To make matters worse temps were dropping well below average increasing risk to Freeze damage to the home, due to lack of proper heat distribution. Harold from Reeds called an associate with another HVAC company and they took care of the problem promptly. So, once again Harold with Reeds went the extra mile for me, because I believe Harold genuinely cares about people and works hard to create a win win relationship on every job he does. Reeds cleaned everything up and checked back to confirm satisfaction with the job. I higly reccomend Reeds Plumbing for Quality work, reasonable price, and a genuine disire to help out an 80 year old woman recovering from a broken hip. I just do not see much compassion today in my business dealings, but this was a rare pleasure to do business with Reed's I highly reccomend them, and would use them again without hesitation.

They did an excellent job. They were punctual, professional and courteous. Everything was A number one.

I had them re-route some plumbing for a sink that was moving. They were responsive and did good work. I'd use them again.

The lady I talked to on the phone was friendly as she outlined the pricing; she even told me that if I could find a local excavator to locate and uncover the septic tank it would save me money. After we had the septic tank uncovered they were able to come out the next day (this was a non-emergency situation). The man who came out to do the job was efficient and tidy, and he had a positive attitude. The company truck was clean and well-kept.

The install went well with the only hang-up being what hardware was included in the toilet box - and then he fixed that too. The hardware in the box was junk but the plumber had proper parts in his truck. I've used them several times in the past and they do very good work and have reasonable rates. They are quite knowledgeable and friendly.

I was told he would leave to come here 8:30-9:00am. So I made sure I was up and presentable. He got here at 11:00 When Bennie got here, he was so nice and polite. He did his job very well. I did ask if he had some place to be before me and he said, no. Would have been nice if she would have called me.a

Removed three old conventional toilets and replaced them with new raised height toilets. Took about 2 hours to remove old toilets and install and install the new ones. I bought a "rain forest" shower head at Lowes and Bill, the plumber, installed it in about 15 minutes. Bill, the plumber, removed 12 year old water heater and installed a new Rheem unit. Probably took one hour and 45 minutes. Everything works perfectly and total charge was about $100.00 less than the estimate. Bill started promptly at 8:30 in the morning and was completely done by 12:30. Old toilets and water heater were removed from my driveway (by another fellow) by 2:00 in the afternoon. I'm completely satisfied.

Contacted 8am with drain problem, Showed up at 12pm and done by 1pm.Gave us game plan if it happens again.

Curtis Purvis was the fellow that came out. He knew more about plumbing than other people. He was here in half the time of the other guys. He didn't charge us anything for the quote. He was honest and knew his stuff. He is very experienced. I would recommend him if anyone asked. He came out immediately.

Their pricing is very reasonable and they completed the work in a very timely manner. I didn't have to worry about them and I was overseas when they completed the last two weeks of work. Everything was done quite nicely.
