They "cleaned" my house four about six months. The house looked clean on the surface, if you didn't look too close. It was not the professional job I expected, but I kept thinking it would get better over time as they continued every other week. It didn't. Every other cleaning service I've used did a deep clean in one room each time, and rotated through the rooms so that every room got a deep cleaning once in a while. Not the case with these folks. They never touched the baseboards, never wiped the smudges off the light switches, never managed to get the corners of the shower clean. They were supposed to mop the kitchen floor and damp-mop the hardwood floors, but all you had to do was wipe a damp paper towel across the floor after they'd been there to know that wasn't happening. As far as I know, no one ever came to check on the job the crews were doing. Eventually things got to the point where I felt I was paying for my house to get dirtier and dirtier around the edges and in the corners. The beginning of the end was when a crew member who had never been to my house before (I'll call her "T") took an abrasive cleanser and/or a scrubby pad to my stainless steel cooktop. It was COVERED in deep scratches; some of the painted numbers around the dials had been scrubbed off completely. To their credit, Domestic Aide agreed to replace the stainless top--not the whole cooktop assembly, just the top--a less expensive solution, which was fine with me. I asked them not to send "T," back to my house, and also requested that they did not use abrasive cleansers or scrubby pads in my house at all. (Just not necessary!) At this point, we also had a conversation about things that were being left undone in my house. I even sent them photos of some of the things that were really obvious that had been overlooked. They assured me that those things would be taken care of on the next visit. But they weren't. Instead, the very next time their crew was at the house, I came home to find (a) the same half-hearted cleaning job they always delivered, and (b) scratches on the front of my glossy black refrigerator. DEEP scratches, clear through the finish to the metal, right at eye level. Because things in my kitchen had been left out of place in exactly the same way "T" had left them out of place the week before, I suspected they had sent her back to my house, against my instructions. The crew usually left a card to tell me who had been there each week, but they did not do that this time, which made me even more suspicious that "T" had been back in my house. Domestic Aide denied "T" had been there again, and suggested that I had purposely taken a key or a coin to the front of MY OWN REFRIGERATOR. (Why would I do that? It was in perfect condition before their crew got ahold of it. I did not expect, nor did I ask, for a new refrigerator. I just wanted them to fix the damage their crew had caused.) Bottom line: They quit. Walked away with less than 24 hours notice before their next scheduled visit. So after spending more than $1000 with them over the last six months, I'm left a house that's dirtier than when they started cleaning it and a scratched-up refrigerator that I'll have to pay to fix.
